  1. I like the Badger Stynylrez primer. They make a red-brown that is a pretty good representation of red oxide.
  2. Not to get too serious or over share, I have a few kits that I put in the category of "not yet". My thinking was either the kit was difficult and I could not do it justice or my dreams for the kit were so high I did not currently posses the skills required to achieve my vision. So I thought as my skills developed I would tackle those kits someday. I have received some not so pleasant medical news recently that makes me realize my skills are only going to deteriorate at a more accelerated rate than I desire. All to say I have realized completed is better than perfect. Build the kits, get them on the shelf and enjoy looking at them. If you are trying to win a contest that is one thing but, if you just put them on the shelf and admire them. Don't wait. Build it and enjoy it.
  3. Thanks for the support. I too have a new found interest in the "average cars" from the 70's and 80's. I don't know when this came out but I have had it in my stash for probably four or five years.
  4. Thank you everyone. I have another one of these in the stash. Will have to figure out what direction to take that one.
  5. Thanks everyone for the kind words. I can't say enough what a fun little kit this. I would encourage anybody to pick one up. In my research on these I was surprised to learn that the Brat was sold in the US all the way through 87. I had no idea they stuck around that long.
  6. Thank you everyone for the support. Glad I was successful on this. My goal was to make a clean and simple Camaro. Nothing extra on it, that is my preference on the real things also.
  7. This was a super fun quick simple build. This is a great kit! Simple enough to be quick and easy but just enough details to be fun. There were a few minor fit issues but overall a fun little kit. I just finished two quick builds they both started as a color selection and then found the kits that best fit the color. I wanted a shades of beige build. I envisioned a 70's economy car. This 70's Subaru in the stash fit perfectly. I built it with the rear seats bolted in, therefore it was classified as a car(70's import tariff avoidance trick). The exterior is a light tan and the interior is a slightly darker shade. The exterior was gloss coated and the bed area was not, which gave it a yet another shade of beige different than the exterior even though they are the same color.
  8. I just completed two quick back to back builds. It has been a rough few months of life and this was just what I needed as a stress reliever. It was a great diversion and a lot of fun. Reminds me to always make some time for playing on the bench. I wanted to make something a really fun shade of green. As I looked through my stash this Camaro jumped out as the perfect candidate. Just a simple build, the only out of ordinary on it are the wheels and tires. I printed a set of rally wheels for it. However, I upsized them from standard to about a 19" or 20" set.
  9. Thank you everyone for the kind words. This was a lot fun but, I look forward to some car kits in the future(hopefully soon!).
  10. Just finished this one. Every year I make a model for a friend of mine for Christmas. This year I am only about one week late, not bad for me. Model assembly is easy, painting is straight forward. Decals were a bear. The included decals in the kit were garbage. Very disappointing for a brand new modern reissue kit. But the factory decals had about a 50% failure rate. No matter what technique or tricks I tried there was no guarantee the decals would work. They would go down but then flake off. Again, not every decal just some of them. sometimes within minutes sometimes overnight. So frustrating. I bought an aftermarket set from JT Graphics. Look better than the kit decals and I had zero issues with them. But, all of the "life boats" are individual decals as opposed to the kit which grouped them to speed up the process. So there were hundreds of individual decals to apply. A lot of work but worth it. In case you are wondering why I did not try to get a replacement set from Round 2, I tried that once before and it was such a hassle I gave up. So this time I just went direct to aftermarket. It is done, I like the results so it was worth the effort. And I had some fun with the photo editor for the pictures. After all a space ship should be in space.
  11. Thanks. It is a great little kit.
  12. Great job. I think the Miura is one of the most beautiful cars ever. I can still remember the first time I saw one in person.
  13. Thank you everyone. This was my first attempt at using a transkit. It was a good learning experience for me. I really enjoyed this project.
  14. This one is done. I took some better pics but they do not do the color justice. Oh well. It is under glass now. https://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/195331-corvette-c7-aerowagon/
  15. This was a fun little project. I added the Aerowagon kit from C1 to a Revell C7 kit. The color is a slightly darker green metallic with a color shift towards bronze. The pictures dont really pick it up.
  16. Thank you. I bought this conversion kit from C1. They have a lot of good looking items on their website.
  17. Just finished. Will have to clean it up and get some pictures for an under glass post.
  18. Everything is built. Clear went on today. Hopefully before the weekend is over the Corvette will be done.
  19. Little more progress. Like I said it is a simple kit. So just a little bit of time and a lot gets done.
  20. Turbo Dork makes excellent color shifting paint if you ever want to try the effect.
  21. I got paint on the body and started some building and painting of the other parts. This is a nice kit but a very simple kit. Only 56 pieces. So hopefully the rest goes together quickly.
  22. Beautiful subject and great color choices for it. You are doing an amazing job on it.
  23. Coming together very nicely. What a fun project.
  24. Great idea and great execution. Very nice
  25. Nicely done. No way to miss that one on the shelf.
