  1. Great job. Rally cars are so much fun
  2. Looks sharp. I love out of the ordinary subjects. Great job
  3. Thanks. The box had set my expectations low. It was a pleasant surprise.
  4. A tool I find very helpful for scribing or just getting into tight places to clean things out is the Flex-I-File 6114 Ultra Fine Needle Point Scriber.
  5. Decals on the way! My attention is back on the corvette. I decided the panel lines I created for the new hatch were not as good as they should be. So I sanded the body down and re-puttied the joints and scribed in new lines. I think they look better but the proof will be when the paint goes back on.
  6. Looks great. Nice job
  7. Thank you everyone. I think after this one I will be more inclined to pick up a simple snap kit when I see an interesting one. It was fun to just focus on the interior and a coat of paint. Assembly time on this was about 5 minutes. Very nice change of pace. I currently have three projects that keep requiring a lot of redo work. This was pure fun compared to those.
  8. Very informative thanks. Knowing that the kit was made from the concept car clears a mystery for me. If you look at the panel lines on the rear quarter you will see the kit and real car do not match. I was wondering why, but now I know. Thanks again
  9. Thank you everyone for the kind words. This is a skill level 1 suitable for an 8 year old kit. The only evidence of that is that the axels and wheels have a lot of motion. You have to be careful when you set it down or it rolls away. Also the bottom screws into the body I guess to hold up to the abuse of being played with. The moldings and detail are all very good. I would encourage anybody to build one of these if you come across one.
  10. I think I am in the minority on this one, I am a big fan of the 2000’s Thunderbirds. I thought Ford did a really great job with the retro look on these. Recently completely by accident I came across a kit from this generation. I had no idea they had ever made a model of these Thunderbirds, so I picked it up immediately and put it near the top of my to do list. This is a very simple snap together toy like kit, but I am very happy with the results and just excited that I now have one of these ‘birds on the shelf.
  11. Very nicely done. I also like to build models of TV and movie vehicles.
  12. Great build. Very good color choices.
  13. I think it came out great. Very cool little truck
  14. I hope you have success with the stynylrez.
  15. This on is on a long hold. I decided I can get the front emblem decal from the new C8 kit. I am waiting for those to be back in stock before I move forward. But, if I slow down to think I think too much. Looking at the body I am not as happy as I would like to be with my scribing of the panel lines for the new hatch. So now I am thinking about stripping the body and starting over. My problem is that I typically hose it down with oven cleaner to strip the body. I can’t do that on this one due to the body being about 25% resin. What to do. So while I debate accepting it as is or trying to figure out how to strip it I have, due to bad decision making, started 3 more kits.
  16. If you like Corvette history and info this is a great book.(just in case you are not familiar with it)
  17. Thank you everyone. I am now excited for Corvettes and want finish the C7 I started(waiting parts), do another C4 to improve on the things that did not go as hoped on this one and maybe work up the courage to tackle that Accurate Miniatures Grand Sport in the stash. For some reason I always stop myself and think I have to build something different. Can’t turnout 3 or 4 of the same thing in a row. Guess I am just silly about some things.
  18. I really liked the look of the C4 after the slight refresh in the 90’s. They just sort of refined the lines a little. When I see one of these today I am still struck by how good they look.
  19. Chuck’s car was sold a few years ago. https://www.barrett-jackson.com/Events/Event/Details/1986-CHEVROLET-CORVETTE-CONVERTIBLE---CHUCK-YEAGER-PACE-CAR-245519
  20. Thank you everyone for the comments. This was a fun kit to build I have two more C4’s in the stash. A snap kit and a ZR1. The only issues with this kit, in my opinion is that the ride height seems a little high and the rear axle assemble is a little odd and needs extra attention to get it right. After this one I may move the snap kit to front of the line, I want to build another one.
  21. That came out great. Nice job.
  22. In 1986 there was an ad with Chuck Yeager, a jet and a yellow Corvette pace car. That image burned itself in my memory. Sometime last year I came across the pace car model used in a hobby shop. I could not resist. My plans started pretty high but as I started building I realized the kit was missing a few pieces. Therefore I decided just to make a pretty shelf model. First the original picture. This is as close as I could replicate, I do not have any airplane models.
  23. Thanks. It was a fun a build and great excuse to rewatch the movie.
  24. With the warning about prefinished bodies having the risk of being difficult I extra prepared the body. 320 grit through 600 grit. Primer. Let it sit for two days then wet sand 2000 through 6000. Put a coat of paint on it this afternoon and I like it! The metallic has a bit of a shift to it so not always easy to pick up the green.
