Very cool! Thanks for sharing, Don!

Great build, Peter!

66 Nova SS - considering weathering this as the paint is metallic red that was brush painted, so there are brush marks galore!
-
I picked up some built-ups over the past month or two, and thought I'd share the plans for them. AMT Barracuda "Mad Mackerel" Nice built up came with the box, too. I probably won't touch this one. Plymouth Superbird, 61 Ford convertible, 63 Galaxie, 66 Nova SS 61 Ford - Planning on a Grand National build for this (tribute to Jerry Sims, "Luke57") 63 Galaxie - Also plan a Grand National tribute to Jerry Plymouth Superbird - may do a weathered pre-resto build up on this.

I ended up building 3 sets of jackstands! Here are a few new bits added - stand and engine from the AMT 66Nova SS kit, lantern, scissor jack and NASCAR floor jacks from a friend. A few views of out front of the shop!

I don't really know what to call this rant!
Tony T replied to 2002p51's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Drew - Thanks for the "rant" that begins this thread. Ignorance is bliss for some I guess!! Many people who rail against something usually don't know enough about what they are blathering on about. It bugs me, too! Okay, here's a few of my thoughts, for what they are worth! I was ticked that I could not watch the last two races of the chase. TSN in Canada showed the coverage of most of the last half of the season, and all the chase races except the last two, which they did show on TSN2, the premium channel (i.e. PAY MORE). I don't get SPEED anymore, due it being moved up into the premium channels as well a few years ago. I'm paying enough for cable, and just will not pay more to get more of nothing. The first half of the season was on one network, I forget which, and the second half was another network, and TSN carried the coverage, and I watched nearly every race...except for the last two races of the season. Ticked me off. Bottom line is that I am a car nut. I love motorsports in most of it's forms. I do watch NASCAR when I can. I enjoy watching it. Yes the cars look alike, and are close in performance. I think this is good, as it makes it a crew and driver ability race. There are several drivers I pull for for different reasons. Being that I live in Canada, motorsports coverage had been spotty at best. ABCs Wide World of Sports was where I first saw NASCAR racing. Later, when SPEED came along, they ran the old Bud Lindaman series Car and Track. That's where I got to see more of the older cars racing. The internet and YouTube has filled in a lot of races missed over the years. Now, I do watch F1 at times, but have found the last couple of years rather boring for the most part, with few real bright moments. Rally racing is something that I watch at times, too. I've not followed INDY/CART whatever they are called now the last several years, probably since Greg Moore was killed, though I have tried to at least keep up with the Canadians, which it is also great to cheer for Canadian drivers when they are racing in NASCAR races nowadays. I think they need to look at rain racing in NASCAR, and more road courses. Did you see the Montreal Nationwide Series race a couple of years ago that ran in the rain? That was an exciting race to watch with those big cars on that track! I watched several of the Australian V8 Super Car races when I did get SPEED. Awesome racing. I did feel that many aspects around the cars and how much they looked like the street versions could be transferred to NASCAR NASCAR=North American Sedan Crashing And Racing was what I thought it meant! (I think I read that in SAE years ago!) I think I hit all of the points I wanted to make...thanks for reading if you got this far!! -
That is a very nice line up of builds!! That is quite the pace you managed, too. Well done...I'd call that a banner year!

Fantastic! I love the first one!

Mr. Turnball...some info needed....
Tony T replied to jimnohio's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hi Jim, A few swear words, lots of sanding, and a bunch of bondo is how I built it!! It is the Monogram 70 Trans Am body parts added to the Camaro Concept kit. Here's a link to some build pictures. You can see the white parts from the TA kit, and the grey from the Camaro Concept snap kit. I ended up using the Camaro wheels (painted gunmetal) and tires, and chassis. I hope this helps. Why is primer showing through on final coat???
Tony T replied to camarobuilder's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
A darker green detail wash sounds like it would be worth a try. -

What are your Projects for 2011
Tony T replied to Clay's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Definitely want to get to building a couple of tributes to a fallen friend, Jerry Sims (Luke57). At least a couple of GN cars - 61 Ford convertible, and a 63 Galaxie, and a 57 Ford Fairlane 500 'runner'. -
Merry Christmas everybody!

Planning First Diorama.............Help Needed
Tony T replied to BigBlockLyle's topic in WIP: Dioramas
Make sure you have a very sturdy base for this, as it is going to be heavy. If you plan on making it in place and leaving it there in your basement, I'd build a 2x4 frame so you have no issues with weight as you add to your dio. If there is a chance you are going to move it at all, consider it being able to be broken down for carrying and transport. Will be watching this cool and ambitious project! -
Looks good so far! I like it a lot! Not sure about keeping foamboard from warping, other than supporting it somehow, like you said. Experimentation may be called for!
-
Thanks to Virgil's tutorial, I built 3 sets of jackstands! Here's the first set completed. Here's Virgil's Industrial Photo-Op Base where he links the tutorial.
-
1 set done, and 2 more have paint drying! And they work! More on the way! You were right, Virgil! Once I started, it was so much fun, I kept going!! I can see making some variations for other stands and such, like transmission supports, and the like! Here they are outside the shop Thanks, Virgil!

Here's where my Trans Am Mustang is at. The chassis is done, wheels are painted, next is primer for the body and sand and letter the tires.
