Wow, great build!
-
I can't seem to get enough of that era...I was born in late '62, so it is before my time as it were...but man, do I love the cars of that era, on the street or on the track. I'd sure like to see them.

Would There be any Interest?

Awesome...would love to see any or all of these in plastic as kits. -
The Last 1970 Challenger R/T
Tony T replied to Rick R's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Neat article. Too bad there aren't more pictures, like from the back, and the left side, interior, engine bay...just leaves some imagination! Would make a neat model for sure. Thanks for sharing that! -
Very cool build! I like it a lot! Paint is awesome.

Hey Brandon, no problem. I hope they were helpful! Nice engine. The first picture was blurry, the 2nd was perfect! I like the engine stand - did that come with the kit? Have fun building!

Wow, that is quite the mean looking line up of '63s! That #8 looks fast standing still!

I like what I see in the pictures! Gotta love a racing 4 door sedan!!

Nice colour combination there, Brandon! Pictures - Indoors, use a support for the camera, and use the macro setting if it has one. You can see where the picture becomes in focus in your pictures - you may need to move the camera away a bit more, and crop it on the computer. Just a couple of things I've learned! I even use the timer so the picture is taken a few seconds after I hit the shutter button so there is no shake with it on a tripod. You can make an inexpensive photo booth for indoors, or take pictures outside, weather permitting. A friend uses the top of his garbage can as a base, and has the street behind it which is out of focus - neat effect! You asked for comments, so I am offering advise to help you out on your next build based on what I can see the most from the mostly blurry pictures. Please, take it in the spirit of one car modeller trying to help another improve their skills. I see on your model that there is what looks like glue in the middle of the windshield. I've done it, by mistake, and here is what I do to try to minimize that happening. 1-I use Elmer's white glue if the window fits well. If it doesn't I try to use a bit of either 5 minute epoxy or Tenax on the cross bar that goes on the headliner, then use the white glue around the edge of the windows. If glue gets on it, it can be wiped off with water after it dries. If the window fits from outside, I run a bead of glue around where the window connects with the body, put the window in place, and use low tack masking tape to hold it. 2-clean, dry hands, and nothing else around on the work area that could be knocked over. If you do get something on your hands, clean them before touching the glass. 3-Once glued in place, leave it overnight to dry, or put the interior and chassis in place loose (no glue) to keep the windows in place until the glue dries. 4-Use a q-tip with water to clean up any dried glue, and wipe with a piece of wet t-shirt, then dry t-shirt. 5-I have also used clear Tamiya bottle paint to hold the windows in place, but only if they fit very tightly into the body. It's great for clear headlight lenses, and taillight lenses, too. I hope this helps. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. The hood not closing 0 I read that that is an issue with the kit, and can be dealt with like you did, or the carburetor, and/or intake manifold can be sanded or filed down to fit. This is where it helps to dry fit some assemblies together to look for issues. Wheels - The chrome is unrealistic that comes in kits. Look for pictures online of the wheel you are making, and match the colours and look. the Magnum 500 wheels, are usually a silver colour, with black in the recessed areas, and can have a bright chrome outer ring. There are ways of doing this detail that take practice. You could paint the black first, let it dry, then paint the silver, as an example. Tires - sand the tread of the tires a bit to take the shine off the tread, like the tire has rolled on pavement. Just a couple of quick tips for you. I am no expert, and I'm just offering what I do as an example. I'm sure that others may have a better way of doing things that may work better for you. I've been building for many years, and am still learning new ways to build models, and new tricks to make them look a bit more realistic. Take care, and have fun! I like the white top on your Charger, by the way. Sorry I got a little long winded there!!

Beautiful Buick there! -
I built one using the Midnight Cowboy bed with a '99 Silverado, and Jada wheels. Hope these help.

There's something missing here.
Tony T replied to LUKE'57's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That is a beautiful die cast! Seems to have a ton of detail to it. The only 1:24 die cast I've seen lately that had a bit more detail than this (pop the hubcaps, and undo the lug nuts with the scale lug wrench to remove the wheels!) was a VW Samba bus, a panel van, and a Beetle for about $200 each by Sun something or other...I don't have one of those either! Thanks for sharing this one, Jerry! -

Sounds like a good one for sure! -
How many BUILT models do you own?
Tony T replied to Jeff Sauber's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Quick tally, 90-100 (not sure how many are packed in a box) built. -
Thanks, Steve. I appreciate the comments!

Great build, and a wonderful tribute. A family friend is home with cancer, now just waiting to pass...thanks for the tribute.

Nice looking Gen Lee!

Here's a couple more - you can see the "Brembo" decals on the calipers. Lined up with a couple of recent builds. Here's the Challenger album link, should you care to see more. Thanks for looking!

This is for a group build that is due in Jan 2011! I just got going on it a few weeks ago, and just couldn't not finish building it!! Nice kit, lots of detail decals, and lots of opportunity to add tons of extra detail if you wanted to. I decided on a build it as a stock SRT8, but with custom semi-gloss black paint, and gunmetal stock wheels. Used gunmetal on the interior areas that would be silver/aluminum (dash panel, console). Other than the no-name tire sidewalls, the kit is a very nice representation of the Challenger. I was having so much fun building it, I didn't stop to take progress pictures! Anyways - Interior is mostly Tamiya semi gloss black, body is Krylon semi gloss black, as is floor of interior, and the black parts of the chassis. The grey on the chassis is Krylon primer. I'll see if I get used to the semi gloss black. I may chicken out and give it a couple of coats of Future...we'll see! Anyways - here's some pics (more in my photobucket album). Enjoy!
