There were a number of companies that converted VW Type 2s to campers, usually based on the Kombi (cargo van with some side windows, 3 per side). Sundial, EZ-Camper, and Westfalia were the most common (there were others), and I believe that Westfalia was the only company that was authorized by VW, as they were sold through VW dealerships (later versions, anyway).
I don't think any VW bus was 6 feet wide inside.
