After adding the power brake line and the vacuum line to the distributor to the carburetor I hated to have to put on the air cleaner it covers everything up that's a bummer. Assembling the body to the chassis for a dry fit it was tight but I got it together next the glass I fitted it into the body and found a problem on the right side it didn't seat right to the body so I'm going to get my riffle file remove the right side of the glass so the chassis will fit the body when I have time now I'm almost done.

Hi David. The use of white glue dates back to one of the early model car magazines tips for the head lights to make look real I think it could the glue has gone bad because it's 5 years old or it needs to be or shaken up. I used white glue on my 51 Chevy and it was fine. My 51 Chevy for the tail lights I use a glue for dark wood a pink in color when it dries it turns a Amber in color with red it makes a dark red like car tail lights.

For interior I used camel 15173 and light buckskin 15093 from SEM paint with aluminum foil for some of the panels and silver and aluminum paint. One of the things I had a problems with was the white glue for the instrument panel I had was when it dries it turns milky color instead of clear and a glob came out . I don't understand why it used to be clear.

Chassis now assembled and interior soon painted and assembled. Assembling the rear suspension like the rear sway bar cutting it off the tree the injector pins cutting off was delicate all the injector pins for these part .🤔🤨 The the muffler and sway bar was a challenge to put in making it fit and look right.

Working with that I had and the one thing I didn't have was a pre-drilled distributor cap wanted to put the wires for the spark plugs 😢 but I had everything else. The way I have the throttle linkage would be correct it's cable driven it makes easy to make the fuel lines I did before I looked it up it's not correct it was a double pumper the heat razor might be correct. I was not too happy with the design of the carburetor they did it was a poorly designed one 😢🤧 I'm still having fun building it. Also time to add the chassis and motor together.

When I started with the motor I kept noticing the detail on the block how beautiful it was it made the build more fun. The transmission was beautiful in the detail the left side the shifting arms looking at all the old kits I wish the old kids had this much detail. The upper half of the motor felt it should paint the heads, intake, valve covers and carb with aluminum paint to dress up things the exhaust manifold I painted cast iron gray the chassis I with a dark gray primer. I sure glad they designed the chassis this way I able to put the motor and chassis together the two will fit the roll of tape.😂🤭

I understand why you are going to use the kit headers I would do the same thing and for cutting the fender wells to get headers out would be a big job here's is a photo that shows how gnarly they are. I remember some the Early ones had one pipe came out of the fender well on the Mopars . I'm showing this to show why to use the kit one's I'm with you on your decision.

The 37 Chevy is one of my favorites. A suggestion you may think about is using a a tight weave like a silk like fabric over the top and if you have black it might look good that way. I still like that 41 Plymouth coupe you did. How did the Mercury coupe turn out what you showed me I liked I remember when that kit came out. The red coupe I really like. 37 and the 41 are too I want to get. I tried making that painting jig you showed me for my Camaro my first black car.👍👍👍

Is that a clear plastic top they give you? I know what you mean that's a hard decision to drop it or leave it alone 🤔👍👍👍

Both Cabriolet and coupe in the 37 Chevy I like are my favorite and the 41 Plymouth coupe your cars blow me away how nice they are. How did that mercury turn out the photo you sent me I liked. I remember when the 49 Merc came out by AMT back then mine didn't look as good. 😢😴🤧

Camaro 70 Z car first muscle car since 1964
Stanward VonDiederichs posted a topic in WIP: Model Cars
At the hobby shop I kept seeing the Camaro Z car 2nd gen! This is one of my favorite Camaro's and decided to buy it I have not built a muscle car since 64 it was a Ford Galaxy XL with a 427 dual quad motor kit and still have the car today packed away. I have had not seen it for years the Chrome from 64 had turned to the original color clear plastic after these years. I was reading someone's review on the kit and he said parts didn't fit and too much flash what I find was the detail was just fantastic I wish in 64 they had this much detail with the kits as this one has the only thing I didn't like was one the color of the plastic Orange and it seemed awfully thin I think they are using cheaper plastic there was an excessive amount of injector pin release points some of them made it hard to tell what to keep or remove. I started by washing it and then using a scuff pad on it then using a wax and grease remover before painting it the color I used I have never painted a car and had to try it Black with camel interior. -
I kind of laugh at what you are going through because I have been there too and can feel for you trying to get the parts to fit it's frustrating isn't it . What I see so far you are doing it right with all the help you are getting . As for the paint I use the DupliColor all the time but I found you have to use the DupliColor adhesive promoter primer or the paint will not stick on the styrene plastic make sure all the mold release is off the plastic. For the interior paint I use SEM paint they make all the colors you need for all cars but do your research on the factory color. I've had to do a lot of cutting and fitting of parts my 34 was one I wanted to put a 3D motor in it but I found it wouldn't fit oh it would but I would have to shorten my time the drive shaft and I didn't want to do that. So I put the original motor and put aftermarket parts on the V8. Model making is just like building a real hot rod trying to make all fit so it looks right. Out of curiosity did you make the Blair's and lettering yourself you did a nice job if so I can't wait to see the motor and the car marked Done this is a nice looking car with all the problems you've run across you're doing it right. 👍👍👍🏆 Blair's is the oldest speed shop I have known ( Dollar) Don Blair since 57 and when he moved to Covina California I've been in his treasure room above the showroom in the Attic at Blair's photo of Don Blair in the store as I remember it in Pasadena along with photos of the 62 Dodge dart I wish there was a photo with Dawn next to it.
