Motown Missile 70 Challenger
Stanward VonDiederichs replied to Scott Eriksen's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Those are the nicest looking carburetors I've seen in a kit that's a real nice looking engine too -
What kind of wire did you use to hold the car when you painted it was it that I've been trying to find something better than what I've been using to spray my stuff I like that.

Thank you for the correction but I knew it was somewhere over there you have to forgive me I have CRS can't remember well you can figure that one out. I've used it once in awhile for other jobs. -
I've known about this car for quite a while I've kind of followed its history seeing what you guys do you may like this it's my favorite shot and it makes me think watch out John Force top photo

I remember this kit ? the first car AMT produced of the old car series the next what's the five window coupe they always made me mad that they never made a three window because that's what I wanted and I'll tell you I only bought them for a dollar. ??? I made a mess of these along with the 40s I have in my collection the 32 roadster five window and the 40 Ford brand new never been built.

My very first was an old Jaguar roadster that I put together with white glue. Don't ask me what kid it was cuz I don't remember I was too young I was about four or five years old early 50s after that I had a thing for buying the revelle 1/32 jalopy Derby cars and in 56 the revelle 1/32 Ford p/u it was a neighbor teenager that taught me how to drop the front end on one of those kits leave off the springs in the front and glue the axle to the frame that would dump it. ???

If you don't mind fabricating the parts in Nashville Tennessee there's a museum called the towing and recovery museum it's the history of towing and they have a lot of vehicles in there if you look online you might find that museum I did I used it a several times for building a tow truck. -

Thank you for the comment it's much appreciated. On that Capri we both misspelled the name for that model of car it's Perana is the proper spelling but you understood what I was talking about. ?? -

Thank you for that comment that really makes me feel good. What I did was really simple all of you could do it if you just follow the step that I go through when I paint and some of that knowledge comes from AMY'S magazine that Hot rod magazine did back in the 60s and Peterson publication on body and paint books. -

Vette as of today you know it is getting close to completion when you start putting tail lights and headlights in the bumpers haven't been glued in they've just been set in place I haven't put the windshield in yet for one reason I like to use just a small dab of silicone sealant to hold it in. The other thing is I'm trying to build up enough nerve to put a little bit of tape by the windshield there and drill a small hole for the side view mirror I'm placing the mirror close to the windshield post where it belongs and not way out on the fender like they have. -
You've done a real cool job on this 34 I'd like to see what it looks like finished that's going to be a showstopper. If you didn't know that was the very first one piece fiberglass body ever built the first one was a steal bodied one I have known about Jim since the 61 I read about him in Hot rod magazine here's what they wrote. See photos

Since I've joined I am totally blown away by some of the kits some of you are building I didn't know they were available in the US so I thought I would throw this out to the other readers of Model Car Mag I'm looking for VW the one on the trailer and the SP2-3 powered by Fiat it was Brazil built also type 147 postal model Volvo 544 u/p, 1800 and the one with the split grill the Gasser photo is body I want in a wagon and other one is Siata 208CS Barton roadster, 208s roadster this is the secretary's car Steve McQueen owned one of these his little Ferrari also a Spring last car they made in 1967 I've seen one a take off of the thing by Volkswagen, 200 Balboa red car and Siata abarth. If you guys don't know about this company this is very interesting reading the history this guy 10 years before Carroll Shelby produced the AC Cobra this guy had a car a secretary's car with a four-cylinder motor Fiat and dropped an 1100 cc Fiat V8 in it in 1953 the owner of the company was a Grand Prix racer just like Carol Shelby.

Those pill bottles they really do come in handy what are yous and I pick up off the street are these bottles maybe some of you recognize them as herbal containers pot.
-
Thank you I'll look into this I have bought resin bodies before I got a 36 Ford Victoria body from one of the companies you know it as a slant back but the proper Ford name for it is a Victoria that was the last year until the 50s. Model Car Mag. has shown me so many different cars that I didn't know that were made now is the fun how do you get ahold of some of them from other countries.

Thank you the panel looks interesting how detailed is it is a motor offered does the hood open or the back open? G with Holden no longer producing what's going to happen with Mad Max we aren't going to have any of those wild blown panel cars ??? this was a joke. ?? Last part Are you about ready to show us your Gasser Holden have you seen my Corvette I'm working on l'm all most done my self.
-
Just out of curiosity who manufactures the Holden kits because I would be interested in some of them and some of the other cars produced in Australia. Is there a company that has a kit for the piranha car? That one I probably would have to buy at least two or three one for myself and one for my nephew he had a Capri and his dream was the drop of V8 in that car and when I told him about the piranha he loved it. Could you show me some of the boxes of cars that are available in Australia I'm curious to see.
-
What I also had my eye on was that little panel truck you had in the background in a couple shots I've got a weakness for panels. Also since my very first car back in the '60s was a 54 Chevrolet sedan delivery I stuck a 57 Corvette motor in it.

Hudson 6 powered altered
Stanward VonDiederichs replied to Karl LaFong's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I kind of had to laugh reading your comment the reason I know the car you're talking about I actually was trying to find the article and the photographs of the Little Toad so others could see what it look like. -
Hey I like what you've done looking at your stuff it makes me think you must be from Australia I've been a fan of the Holden and some of the other cars in Australia for a long time I wish we could get some of those in America. I was bummed when I heard that Holden was closing down but I heard the interview on the Holden side and I kind of understood what they were talking about I got a piece of it here in America on the GM side and I was kind of bummed out and pissed. For a while I was getting the Australian magazine Street machine where they were showing what you guys were doing in Australia and I thought it was neat so seeing what you have I'd like to see it finished.

This is very nice I to can't wait to see it finished I'm a big fan of the Hudson 308 Forever club and been collecting unusual Hudson things and and I thought you might like in case you're going to do another one you could use or if you didn't know about. One of them AMT or I don't think any company has produced it yet but here is the engine from a 1957 Hudson high performance this guy's parents bought this guy this car for a graduation present.
