  1. Have you ever thought about cutting out part of the backing on the grill like the real car has it. I use a Hercules 5/0 Jewelers saw blades they are.005 thick .018 wide they're the best with a bench pin (see Teardrop Trailer in one of the photos I'm using a bench pin) that way you can paint back side of bars like the real car. Because I liked what you did.
  2. I guess I spoke too soon I enlarged the photo of the first set of photos and noticed around the top you had to glue that section in this kit must have been like the one I described you got a bit of Sanding to do and maybe some filling. I still have that 36 and the last time I seen it I haven't figured out what to do with it I built it as a one-piece body with a scoop coming up right by the front window it looks like a 63 funny car the only trouble is they didn't have funny cars back then I painted it canary yellow. Oh well one of these days it'll get finished along with one of the original AC Cobra kits car which is almost done it has a great big blown 427 Ford engine coming out of the body.
  3. I like what you have done with the 41 it looked like it was a pain in the ass. I haven't seen this kit I see a lot of kits and I haven't seen before on MCM some of them I would like to have. Big box store do not have them and will not S.O. them and I'm stuck with them to buy they don't ship too PO boxes. Keep up the nice work.
  4. Here's what the Corvette looks like today Feb.28/24 I'm up to step 3 paint was rubbed out and a glaze coat was used wax not until 9-12 mouths after it's dry. Wheels rims didn't fit the tires you have to cut down backing to get them fit then the shaft for the axle didn't fit and the hole was to big for the axle I had to glue in.
  5. The first photo is a photo of Tom before the 36 I also can give you photos of the car after the 36 the roadster he had made an appearance on the TV show Lassie and who was driving that car at that time not other than TV Ivo.
  6. I like your 36 it looks good stock the color fit it be glad you don't have the original kit the original kit you had a choice between a convertible or a coupe I didn't like the way they did it this looks nice. I wish AMT would make a Victoria body you may know it as a slant back my brother had one with a full raced Olds with a four speed hydro the car use to belong to Tom Mc Mullen.
  7. While working one time at a park at the beach I decided at one point to do some race cars out of wood. First car I did free hand what was hard was making each side look the same as the other. The next one I decided to use templates so that everything was uniform l still have the templates for all the Bonneville race cars the next photo down is the finish car. Smallest car was one that I remember reading in Hot rod magazine about I always thought it was cute while digging through the internet I ran across it in a museum and they were saying that that thing ran on a Mercury outboard motor and broken land speed record now that's funny. And of course I had to do a streamliner motorcycle. I honestly have to say I had fun doing these so much that I ended up making a couple of my nephews little wooden cars for them to play with I was a hit with them the ones I did look like Volkswagens.

  8. Martin The more I look at this the more I think this deserves a trophy not just the heart actually both.
  9. The first photo is the wolf whistle I fabricated from part of the parts tree the intake manifold I fabricated it but the carburetors and air cleaner they are aftermarket the next one down is a 45 RPM record player for a car I took an illustration from JC Whitney's catalog from the 50s chassis photos I fabricated the spring for the front suspension and had to fabricate then a shock absorber I also made a drive shaft hoop the headers I fabricated the braiding is the negative cable for the engine I inlaid the front and rear end and side air wing if you are putting a 45 player under the dash you'll also need 45 on the back seat so I made a 45 record case for the back seat all the bright work is aluminum around the windows the scoop and along the bottom of the door and the guard on the rear fender the final pictures are what the car looks like without a hood you can see the detail I put in under the hood. I'm really happy the way the car turned out but when I got finished for a week it didn't look finished and that's where I decided to make a trailer pull everything you see is designed to be in the period of 1958 to 1962. ??????
  10. Originally buying this kit I was just going to make it a 50s style custom for street everyday driver. Until I opened it up and I was shocked to see what they did with that body I couldn't believe it they used a convertible roof instead of a hardtop roof. I'm sorry I can't show you the photos of what the car look like with the convertible top if you bought the kit you'd understand but I had a mishap and erased all those early photographs which really bummed me out. I had photographs of where I was reshaping the body using a half round file all the customizing I did the only photograph I managed to save is in the photograph showing Black Sapphire finished I would like to show you some of the deals I added to the build with added photos.
  11. This is one beautiful Carmen gia and I agree the photographs do it proud. I bought this kit back in the mid-2000 I've never built it this makes me want to.
  12. Back in the 60s for lettering I use to use Electra set lettering they are a rub on lettering. I don't know if they still make them or not but if you're able to find them if you go to a good graphics supply store that deals in graphic supplies you can rub these on to a surface and spray a clear coat over it or leave the clear coat off of it they are not a decal they're used in the graphic industry with many different style of letterhead. I like what you did with the Corvette you did a very nice job in detail.
  13. I bought the Galaxy sedan delivery the 46 to 48 Chevrolet seeing that they came out with a coupe now I want it but Galaxy I think are one of the best in detail I also bought their fifth wheel trailer that is a nice kit.
  14. The freedom fighter simca 9 was the first car I had pitted on when I was about 17 for the Nationals at Pomona and Bakersfield also Riverside for 2 years 64-65 this is not a Gasser car it is a AM/SP class car. This car was too valuable to turn into a gasser the owner saved all parts that were cut off the car to return it to stock there's only five of these cars left in the world. The roadster belong to my brother I went out a couple times with him before it was retired and Yes this is the old Holly Hendrickson roadster that was on the cover of Hot Rod magazine 5/ 1961 the car that took out the timing lights at the end of the quarter mile no matter what we did it would never go straight.

  15. This is what happens when you are a RV trailer person I've been pulling since 1990 I'm on my third trailer I do all repairs. My first trailer had surgery breaks I had to connect them that's one reason why this trailer has surge brakes if you notice the chassis in the brake lines. One of my places that I lived at had a teardrop trailer sitting in the backyard left from the previous owners and I remember how I was put together to this day.
  16. HI It wasn't so difficult so much it was just more involved then I thought the only reason there is so much detail with my trailer is I own a trailer and I know what it takes to make a trailer that's why there's so much detail.
  17. My brother was telling me he was still alive I was talking to him on the phone. I seen him in 2015 and he seemed pretty spry for his age when I was talking to him my brother and him knew each other from those days of drag racing.
  18. Sometimes they don't sell that well or if they did they aren't ready to re-release it or when the company was sold round2 didn't get the rights but it could have been lost. America's doesn't do the injection molding all the time sometimes it is cheaper to do it overseas it could be during transport it got lost. I spent time around the plastic injection molding and die casting procedure. I remember that 66 barracuda kit.
  19. bobss396 you sound like me when I was a kid I to had box's of model parts with me when revelle models came out with those $1. party pack I really want crazy they had things that AMT didn't have this was in the early 60s eventually things do get thrown out unfortunately. I'm kicking myself now because I think about all those parts and what I could do today so now I'm starting on a new collection and another new kit collecting the kids that I had back then I still have those didn't get thrown away those are put away like a original AC Cobra kit a original 32 all three. I wish AMT would make a 36 Victoria I would buy it in a heartbeat. Have you bought or built any of the Galaxy unlimited models?
  20. I don't know if you all know about this but Mr Iskenderian is still alive he would be 100 years old today the father of racing cams and so is his business.
  21. I think you did a beautiful job on this triumph the detail is very sweet it almost looks as if you could walk up and climb on. I new people had them growing up in the fifties.
  22. Here also is some of the other work I've done. The furniture is 1/12 scale the two end tables are only 7/8 of an inch tall and yes they do fold the circle is a Celtic design it's a rosette for a musical instrument.
  23. NOBLNG thank you for the comment I will tell you the fenders I did make up but in the back of my mind I was picturing about a 1937 Ford or Chevrolet pickup back fenders. If you notice the bottom half of the fenders follow the lines of the body the tail lights I was trying to copy what a 54 Chevrolet tail light look like but unfortunately it didn't turn out that way I didn't have a 54 to look at. Also here's two more photos of something I forgot to put in.
  24. I think all of you for your replies believe me this project was a blast to build the front suspension was all brass tubing and cut and silver soldered together the exhaust was aluminum and that was rather tricky to bend and tried to prevent kinks.
  25. ESPO thanks for the compliment! This kit has fought me all the way through the interior pod doesn't fit right there's no way to glue it in on the back side so I'm going to have to make amount for it to fit the rims to wide for the body I'm putting stock tires on it with the mags. I'm building this the way I remember 60 Corvettes look like on the streets back then I'm doing it in an everyday used vehicle and not a showpiece.
