Since I've joined I am totally blown away by some of the kits some of you are building I didn't know they were available in the US so I thought I would throw this out to the other readers of Model Car Mag I'm looking for VW the one on the trailer and the SP2-3 powered by Fiat it was Brazil built also type 147 postal model Volvo 544 u/p, 1800 and the one with the split grill the Gasser photo is body I want in a wagon and other one is Siata 208CS Barton roadster, 208s roadster this is the secretary's car Steve McQueen owned one of these his little Ferrari also a Spring last car they made in 1967 I've seen one a take off of the thing by Volkswagen, 200 Balboa red car and Siata abarth. If you guys don't know about this company this is very interesting reading the history this guy 10 years before Carroll Shelby produced the AC Cobra this guy had a car a secretary's car with a four-cylinder motor Fiat and dropped an 1100 cc Fiat V8 in it in 1953 the owner of the company was a Grand Prix racer just like Carol Shelby.

Thank you I'll look into this I have bought resin bodies before I got a 36 Ford Victoria body from one of the companies you know it as a slant back but the proper Ford name for it is a Victoria that was the last year until the 50s. Model Car Mag. has shown me so many different cars that I didn't know that were made now is the fun how do you get ahold of some of them from other countries.

Thank you the panel looks interesting how detailed is it is a motor offered does the hood open or the back open? G with Holden no longer producing what's going to happen with Mad Max we aren't going to have any of those wild blown panel cars ??? this was a joke. ?? Last part Are you about ready to show us your Gasser Holden have you seen my Corvette I'm working on l'm all most done my self.

Just out of curiosity who manufactures the Holden kits because I would be interested in some of them and some of the other cars produced in Australia. Is there a company that has a kit for the piranha car? That one I probably would have to buy at least two or three one for myself and one for my nephew he had a Capri and his dream was the drop of V8 in that car and when I told him about the piranha he loved it. Could you show me some of the boxes of cars that are available in Australia I'm curious to see.

What I also had my eye on was that little panel truck you had in the background in a couple shots I've got a weakness for panels. Also since my very first car back in the '60s was a 54 Chevrolet sedan delivery I stuck a 57 Corvette motor in it.

Hudson 6 powered altered
Stanward VonDiederichs replied to Karl LaFong's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I kind of had to laugh reading your comment the reason I know the car you're talking about I actually was trying to find the article and the photographs of the Little Toad so others could see what it look like. -
Hey I like what you've done looking at your stuff it makes me think you must be from Australia I've been a fan of the Holden and some of the other cars in Australia for a long time I wish we could get some of those in America. I was bummed when I heard that Holden was closing down but I heard the interview on the Holden side and I kind of understood what they were talking about I got a piece of it here in America on the GM side and I was kind of bummed out and pissed. For a while I was getting the Australian magazine Street machine where they were showing what you guys were doing in Australia and I thought it was neat so seeing what you have I'd like to see it finished.

This is very nice I to can't wait to see it finished I'm a big fan of the Hudson 308 Forever club and been collecting unusual Hudson things and and I thought you might like in case you're going to do another one you could use or if you didn't know about. One of them AMT or I don't think any company has produced it yet but here is the engine from a 1957 Hudson high performance this guy's parents bought this guy this car for a graduation present. -
1960's Corvair Bertone Concept by Air-Trax
Stanward VonDiederichs replied to Joe Lange's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I'd like to take one of these kits and make it into a mid-engine corvair with a V8 like they did back in the seventies. There's a couple of them running around Southern California I see him in various car shows. Though this one looks really nice I'd like to see you what it's going to look like finished. -
Old cars brings back old memories

This is the only kit that did anything that stupid. None of the old cars were this way they didn't put axles through the motors with them. -

When AMT doing that I stopped buying the new stuff and started building all the hot rods that they were putting out. First new cars were Corvette stingray which I still have to this day in a plastic case and a 1964 Ford galaxie XL with the 427 which I still have today the Chrome on the Galaxy is starting to fade to the color of the plastic used it's so old these cars are 60 years old as of today. -

This is the fun part getting to wrap all the Chrome on the sides around the interior the windshield post and over the headlights. -

The interior was really fun to do. The only thing I have to tell you is make sure you use Adhesion Promoter if you are using Dupli•Color paint or it will not stick l made the mistake I knew better now I'm paying for it. -

Have you ever thought about cutting out part of the backing on the grill like the real car has it. I use a Hercules 5/0 Jewelers saw blades they are.005 thick .018 wide they're the best with a bench pin (see Teardrop Trailer in one of the photos I'm using a bench pin) that way you can paint back side of bars like the real car. Because I liked what you did.

I guess I spoke too soon I enlarged the photo of the first set of photos and noticed around the top you had to glue that section in this kit must have been like the one I described you got a bit of Sanding to do and maybe some filling. I still have that 36 and the last time I seen it I haven't figured out what to do with it I built it as a one-piece body with a scoop coming up right by the front window it looks like a 63 funny car the only trouble is they didn't have funny cars back then I painted it canary yellow. Oh well one of these days it'll get finished along with one of the original AC Cobra kits car which is almost done it has a great big blown 427 Ford engine coming out of the body.
-
I like what you have done with the 41 it looked like it was a pain in the ass. I haven't seen this kit I see a lot of kits and I haven't seen before on MCM some of them I would like to have. Big box store do not have them and will not S.O. them and I'm stuck with them to buy they don't ship too PO boxes. Keep up the nice work.

Old cars brings back old memories
Stanward VonDiederichs replied to Stanward VonDiederichs's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Here's what the Corvette looks like today Feb.28/24 I'm up to step 3 paint was rubbed out and a glaze coat was used wax not until 9-12 mouths after it's dry. Wheels rims didn't fit the tires you have to cut down backing to get them fit then the shaft for the axle didn't fit and the hole was to big for the axle I had to glue in. -
The first photo is a photo of Tom before the 36 I also can give you photos of the car after the 36 the roadster he had made an appearance on the TV show Lassie and who was driving that car at that time not other than TV Ivo.
-
I like your 36 it looks good stock the color fit it be glad you don't have the original kit the original kit you had a choice between a convertible or a coupe I didn't like the way they did it this looks nice. I wish AMT would make a Victoria body you may know it as a slant back my brother had one with a full raced Olds with a four speed hydro the car use to belong to Tom Mc Mullen.

While working one time at a park at the beach I decided at one point to do some race cars out of wood. First car I did free hand what was hard was making each side look the same as the other. The next one I decided to use templates so that everything was uniform l still have the templates for all the Bonneville race cars the next photo down is the finish car. Smallest car was one that I remember reading in Hot rod magazine about I always thought it was cute while digging through the internet I ran across it in a museum and they were saying that that thing ran on a Mercury outboard motor and broken land speed record now that's funny. And of course I had to do a streamliner motorcycle. I honestly have to say I had fun doing these so much that I ended up making a couple of my nephews little wooden cars for them to play with I was a hit with them the ones I did look like Volkswagens.

Martin The more I look at this the more I think this deserves a trophy not just the heart actually both.

The first photo is the wolf whistle I fabricated from part of the parts tree the intake manifold I fabricated it but the carburetors and air cleaner they are aftermarket the next one down is a 45 RPM record player for a car I took an illustration from JC Whitney's catalog from the 50s chassis photos I fabricated the spring for the front suspension and had to fabricate then a shock absorber I also made a drive shaft hoop the headers I fabricated the braiding is the negative cable for the engine I inlaid the front and rear end and side air wing if you are putting a 45 player under the dash you'll also need 45 on the back seat so I made a 45 record case for the back seat all the bright work is aluminum around the windows the scoop and along the bottom of the door and the guard on the rear fender the final pictures are what the car looks like without a hood you can see the detail I put in under the hood. I'm really happy the way the car turned out but when I got finished for a week it didn't look finished and that's where I decided to make a trailer pull everything you see is designed to be in the period of 1958 to 1962. ??????

Originally buying this kit I was just going to make it a 50s style custom for street everyday driver. Until I opened it up and I was shocked to see what they did with that body I couldn't believe it they used a convertible roof instead of a hardtop roof. I'm sorry I can't show you the photos of what the car look like with the convertible top if you bought the kit you'd understand but I had a mishap and erased all those early photographs which really bummed me out. I had photographs of where I was reshaping the body using a half round file all the customizing I did the only photograph I managed to save is in the photograph showing Black Sapphire finished I would like to show you some of the deals I added to the build with added photos.
