What did you see on the road today?
Falcon Ranchero replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I saw a crusty Ford Tarus wagon with one of those homemade locks over the gas cap. That was up in the Yukon Territory back in 2022. Might be able to find a photo (as I did take one). Never saw one actually on the door though. -

I had put this style of light photography on here sometime before, and I usually took photos of one car or two, but I always wanted to try multiple models to really give off the '50s Diner vibe. What I found was that it was more challenging to get great results with multiple 1/25 scale models, as I had usually only took photos of one or two cars, or multiple smaller scale cars, which I found were way easier to get the lighting right. Though I am not 100% pleased with the results from the new experiment, I kinda sorta thought a few of them were pretty alright and thought they might be interesting to show off.

That’s a neat concept that should have and could have made production as a real model in the Ford lineup; as a higher trim level wagon.

Looks like a very nice '73 Caddy. Very custom with that Leopard skin vinyl top and body pinstriping. -

I’m probably the only kid who has a rotary phone; a 1983 Petite SEL to be exact. It’s gold and looks more like a 50s phone. Don’t really use it much though because the ringer sounds awful and it is startling. And I’m hoping my great uncle will sell me his old RCA rabbit ear tv he has out in the garage. Would be cool to try and rig it up so that I can watch whatever on it. Pretty sure no channels work on it any more but one channel worked back in 2022. -

On the contrary, I’ve seen mostly trucks with the “homemade” whitewalls, caused by rubbing up against the curb. Which then brings up the conversation about curb feelers, a car accessory I first laid eyes on in the Disney movie Cars, as the Sheriff ‘49 Mercury did have curb feelers. Asked my dad one day what those were and he told me. Since then I became a Big fan of curb feelers ( sounds odd) but one day I’ll get a ‘60 Plymouth or even just any classy fancy late 50s or early 60s car and add on some curb feelers. Saw a ‘58 Dodge at a show once and it had curb feelers. Fist time seeing those things in real life. But yeah I know what everyone’s talking about. -
I was wondering when I’d see this; remembered the progress from the what did you accomplish today thread a while ago and it looked pretty close to being done. Almost thought I missed it or something, but I am glad you’ve finally finished it. Looks cool. The colour combo is pretty nice. I really want to build one of these.

Looks great; the wheels and window tint really set it off. Like the colour

Went and visited our car friend again; he's got quite a lot farther on his '69 Camaro project. Might be done in spring. Plus he gave us a pretty nice rectractable antenna (not power) for our car. Spring project to put it on as snow has now unfortuantely put an end to the classic car season up here. -
I did that to the front windshield of my '69 Torino while trying to take it out (of the completed model that had been glued together for two years) to fix a fit issue. Split right in half down the middle. But I was able to cut up the windshield from the 2012 Corvette kit (that I'll never build) to replace it.

A Sad Situation
Falcon Ranchero replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The thing is though, we really have no actual room for this car as of now. We have a small property in a tight neighborhood, plus with our LeMans there really isn’t a practical need for the Caddy, just the fact that I like the car and hate what’s happening to it. As long as someone can take it home and care for it I’d be very pleased. Plus I’m not actually sure the lien option is a thing at this shop, because even when I got the last photo of the car there, my dad had talked to the mechanic about it again and he said it’s still not up to him what happens to the car. So I really have no idea how long this situation is going to last. -
I've mentioned before about a 1983 Cadillac on a mechanic's lot that's been sitting there for a while. Having found photos of when it first showed up in 2022 and comparing it to a photo I took of it this past summer I just became sad again. Back in 2022 I was really hyped about the car because I was at the age where a set of cool wheels were in order so I kept tryina convince my dad on it. He was talking to the mechanic and he said it needed a gas tank before the owner would sell it. It was owned by some old guy who died, and his son wanted to get rid of it so he brought it there to get a tank but from my understanding never wanted to spend the $700 for a new one. Adding in some sibling dispute about the car, it still sits here, now with grass all around it and obviously still no gas tank. The guy basically dumped the car and the problems associated with it at the mechanic's, making it his problem, even though it really shouldn't be. Plus it's a crime since the car was a garage kept Florida car for over 20 years. I mean really why should I care as I have a pretty nice car now but this still gets me down when I see it.
