What did you see on the road today?
Falcon Ranchero replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Got some nice photos of a '73 Thunderbird; I have seen it many times before, parked here, but only ever got drive-by photos so this time I actually parked and got out to get a closer look. It is listed for sale and can be yours for $15,000. -

Yes it was in that area, near a motel. That's crazy cool that you actually saw this car too. We were driving to Sudbury and so when I saw it, I happened to look up a side road into a subdivision and it was peeking out from someone's driveway. We did a circle back to get a closer look because I suspected it was the one for sale on marketplace. -
Seems that there's not technically such a thing as an "ugly colour" because of the vast types of people that have different tastes. Plus, I've seen beautiful stock appearing '50s, '60s and maybe a few '70s cars that had been re-painted with these modern colours and look very nice. Like an econoline pickup I saw at a show, had some newer Toyota or mazda silvery colour or something. Was stock otherwise and looked quite nice to me. It's basically what Steve mentioned above, it is indeed the modern "vehicles" that have lost the luster, and so they may come across as hideous in some colours, meanwhile if you saw a vintage car in, even the first colour in this thread, you probably wouldn't hate it.

1979 Gas Lines ( Vintage Footage )
Falcon Ranchero replied to 1972coronet's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
This is neat, I watched the whole 20 minutes. A time I never new but sometimes wished I did. Was cool to see. Thanks for adding the footage on here -
No comment, just a hand gesture 👎

Whoa I like it a lot, especially without the fender skirts and continental kit. Been a while since I picked up a diecast. Was hoping to get my hands on a sunstar 1960 Plymouth eventually.

1971 Chevrolet Chevelle “Heavy Chevy” in Lime Mist.

Looks great, I like it. Saw an orange '72 Heavy Chevy at a show once, it was for sale too. Cool cars. -

Saw a '55 Century for sale; was parked out there last year about this time though wasn't for sale then. Had to get a closer look this time. Apparently, according to some words on the for sale sign, it's been a one owner car for 40 years. Definitely shows it's age but wow it'd be nice to clean up and take to a show. My dad actually remembers the car from the college parking lot back in the late 80s. Says he might have a black and white photo (or at least the negative film) of the car he took for some obscure photo assignment back in around '87-89. Would be neat to see. -

Also saw this wrecked '69 Fury. Couldn't get a photo so this is a screenshot from google maps from July 2025. There was also what appeared to be a '69 Chrysler two-door in similar (worse maybe) shape that wasn't there in July 2025, so no pic of that. -

Went away for the weekend, saw some nice Ford cars, a '64 Galaxie, '63 Thunderbird, and a circa '76 Lincoln Continental. The Thunderbird was for sale and I had seen the ad on marketplace since last fall. It really is a nice car, not sure why it's having a tough sell. Was $17,900 initially I believe, but now it's down to $9,000. -

I would so spend $13,500 for it. Can’t beat a ‘59 Ford. Like how its not the skyliner, just the regular hard top. -
My First graphic design art in almost 2 years
Falcon Ranchero replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in Auto Art
Sounds like an interesting movie, looks like an interesting moive. Gee I can't wait 'till April 20th next year! -
Cool stuff; I wish our Walmart had kits, I literally have never seen model kits there ever. That '80 Monte Carlo sure is neat, I'd get one of those. Word of caution on the '69 XL, if you decide to use the decals that come with the kit, watch out, they're extremely delicate and don't stick all that well. On the one I built I had a hard time with the GT stripes.

During highschool I had access to computers with photoshop on them, at the school's expense so I made a ton of graphic design car art primarily from grade 11 through to grade 12. However once college hit I decided not to take courses in graphic design and so for almost two years I haven't done anything of the sort since I no longer have the school as a resource for creating those arts. That being said I finally bought one of those big computers like the ones I had in highschool and am very close to having the software to do more creative things like I did in highschool. The other day I found a free version of photoshop, photoshop express (which is no where near as good as the real thing) so I downloaded it and did a test run and came up with the picture below. Using a photo my mom took of a '69 Cadillac she saw last week, I created a sort of movie theme poster, for the fictional, made up, not real 1971 film, "The White Caddy". I used play on words to create the ficional actors, Lee Feegreen (Leafy Green) and Jim Shoarts (Gym Shorts), and one of the borders you could add was a film strip so I added that. I suppose the premise of the movie is about these two dudes who buy a used Cadillac off the lot and go on zany adventures and what not. The next step in this creative progress I suppose would be to write an entire script and then somehow act it out in real life (would be cool). But I'm getting way too far off topic. I was just very pleased to have let my creative mind run free on graphic design once again, as it has been almost two years, so it felt good, and I like the poster I created.

Do you also have 1:1 project cars?
Falcon Ranchero replied to ctruss53's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Got the trunk badge finally mounted. Had to cut off all the prongs except for the one behind the "I" (the holes in the trunk didn't match up with the prongs on the badge, since the badge is apparently a '67, and we had to mount it on our '69) because interestingly enough the "I" prong, when fit in the hole, centeres the whole badge correctly and also has it at an appropriate height. Though we could still see the remaining holes so my dad printed out some sticker vinyl colour coded to the car's paint, and printed on metalic silver vinyl so it looks exactly like the car paint, and so I cut small circles out and stuck them over the holes. Does the job. So the badge is mostly stuck on there with two-sided automotive tape, but I have it screwed in where the "I" is. -

Finally got a photo of that '69 Caddy I've been trying to nail since 2022. But I didn't get the shot, my mom actually saw it this evening in the Home Depot parking lot. One day i'll probably see it in the home depot parking lot, and I will for sure get lots of closer up photos. But finally though I have a photo of it. -
Noticed AMT’s releasing the ‘57 Ford soon
Falcon Ranchero replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
That part I knew; no problem though as I'm sure I could do something up if I want to make a stock '57 Meteor. I did a '61 Meteor conversion where I had to fabricate the grille and tail panel out of existing custom pieces from other kits (customizing the custom parts) but actually having the molded Meteor grille come with the '57 is a big step in the right direction. -
Excited for that as I was hoping to get one but older kits were hard to find. Can’t order one until December 31st but I was just wondering if anyone knows if the kit still comes with the ‘57 Meteor grille which I’m pretty sure was thrown in as a custom piece in previous kits.

And just today already I saw a super nice shortbox Chevy and a "Matlock Special" Crown Victoria, as I like to call them. Also got a photo of a '68 442 that we pass almost everyday. Usually always out on the front lawn with his killer '67 Camaro though I could only get the 442. Saw it at a show and it's outstanding. Currently listed for sale on marketplace. $48,000. Must be a real 442. -

Saw a lot. Yesterday I saw the '73 Thunderbird that has been parked in the same place since I first saw it in 2022, though I'm sure it's always been there years before. It is someone's daily driver. Was finally able to get a photo of a circa '77 LeMans that I've seen parked in the same place for years. It's in a driveway right on the other side of a big hedge, and the road past the house is the highway so it was always tricky to get a photo; even this isn't the best angle but I still got it. Really like the paint and though you can't really tell, the rims are also body colour and it has whitewall tires. A shame it sits though. And then we saw the car guy I've mentioned before who has all those nice cars and who's been helping us get parts for our car. We saw his '68 Cougar out on his driveway but then as we were heading home we saw him in his Chevy truck. -

Seen this Firebird many times at A&W on Saturday mornings, this time it was there again along with a '67 Coronet. But we just drove past as usual, however later that morning when the firebird left I got some photos of it. My dad says he remembers the car from in the late 80s as the guy who used to own it went to the same college as my dad and drove the car there too. Yes even in the winter. Never seen it at shows so if my dad wants to confirm for sure that's the car he used to know then we'd have to stop in one Saturday morning at A&W. -
Yeah I’d have to say I really like how well the body and interior were moulded. Wasn’t really expecting the lack of fender wells behind the front wheels and overall the final assembly fit was a bit wonky but I did enjoy the build and if I can, I’d build another Jo- Han any day.
