Thank you everyone for the compliment! Much appreciated! @hedotwoThe Terra Cotta paint is the original paint applied at the Jo-Han model plant when they were building that model, but the paint had a dull finish. I sprayed the body with SprayMax 2K clear coat. After that I masked and painted the vinyl top, and finally applied all the Bare Metal Foil trim before assembling the car.

Your Mustang is turning out to be such a masterpiece! I find the interior quite inviting! I'm building Sabrina's orange '77 Ford Pinto hatchback from Charlie's Angels that had similar seat pattern. Hope I can do the Pinto interior half as good as your Mustang.

Nice build! That reminds me I have the Super Stock version of this car that needs completion. Mine is missing a few parts. Also nice '65 Coronet 500 you built there!

@Jim BThank you for the compliment! I just remembered I took a picture of the car a few years earlier when I first purchased it from another gentleman who was the original owner. I thought you and other model car enthusiasts might enjoy seeing what this car looked like before the transformation.

This is a dealership promo model made by MPC from when the real cars were sitting on the showroom floor. The paint is the original Aqua Blue Poly by MPC. I did all the detailing including the interior after taking the entire car apart. Presented here is a 1974 Chevrolet Caprice Classic powered by a big block 454 that cranked out 235 horsepower combined with 360 lb-ft of torque. This car scaled at 4376 lbs! After doing a lot of work I think it's looking decent. For the longest time I thought those big Chevy promo bodies were molded in factory color, but while working on them I found out these are actually painted, and the paint quality of MPC promo models is excellent compared to many Johan promo models from that decade. This is another promo interior that I detailed & painted using paint jars, toothpick, & tweezer. The carpeting is felt from Walmart and there are a few bits and pieces that were scratch built. You can see in the last couple of pictures what the car looked like before all the work went into it.

A few photos of my 1974 Cadillac Eldorado in Terra Cotta Firemist Poly with a white Landau vinyl top taken after completion this summer. The car was dismantled, sprayed with SprayMax 2K clear and detailed with Bare Metal Foil and lots of other little things. Side mirrors are scratch built. Emblems and scripts highlighted with Molotow chrome pen which were left to cure for two weeks after application. The missing hood ornament came from a parts Caddy. The floor, chassis, transmission, and engine painted with a combination of spray paint and brush paint from a few cans of various diluted paint. For the interior I did not take anything apart. I masked and painted the dashboard first. Installed felt carpeting using epoxy, and later tweezers & toothpick used to get them in place. The wood appliques is shelf liner from the Dollar store. Added seat belts and both indicator & gear lever. Dash and instrument cluster details painted with toothpick from a diluted can of black and silver paint. Added the straps at the back of the seats and carpeting for the bottom of the door inserts. Ash trays are made of tiny pieces of aluminum from Coke can. Also scratch built the brake and accelerator pedal. Finally, the red thing on the dash is a 8 track tape!

Enhanced 1/24 scale die cast Motormax 1974 AMC Gremlin X. Almost all Motormax 1/24 scale models comes with basic plastic floors, interior, and engine bay molded in black plastic. Sometimes the interior will be molded in a different shade. With a bit of work we can turn these average mass produced models into highly detailed presentation models. Entire car taken apart. Engine bay, floor, and subframe detailed after paint matching with the exterior. All chrome trim wrapped with Bare Metal Foil. Interior carpeted, added seat belts, windshield tint, scratch built rear view mirror, sun visors, and dome lamp. Wiper cowl area and the vents of one front wheel cover highlighted with black paint. For some reason Motormax made the three wheels nicely detailed, but forgot to detail the other one. I created the missing antenna with a thin metal wire that was epoxied to the base. Now I can imagine filling the tank and going on a long cruise enjoying many smiles per gallon.

This is my Motormax 1/24 scale die cast 1973 Ford Pinto Runabout. On the floor of the car and on the box it says '74 but the car is actually a '73. The '74s had larger bumpers front & rear. Motormax also made a die cast of the '74 with the correct bumpers so I might get one of those in the future. Lot of enhancement was done to this car. The floor, subframe and engine bay were all molded in black plastic so they needed detailing. The car was taken apart and all those parts were detailed with a combination of spray paint and paint brush. The only thing I added to the engine bay was the oil dipstick, but everything else was highlighted using paint. I didn't have the exact shade of exterior green paint, so the engine bay was painted jade green all around prior to the detailing. The same green was used for the floors and that piece was finished off with simulated dust by spraying brown paint from a distance and on top of the piece, so that paint particles lands on it and looks like dust. Motormax highlighted the chrome trim with silver paint. For realism I added Bare Metal Foil over the silver paint on all the trim. The interior got seat belts and door locks. I did not add carpeting because I don't have the exact shade of green, but I did paint the pedals and added the windshield tint. To finish it off I highlighted the cowl panel and wheel vents with black paint.

My 1973 Cadillac Eldorado dealership promo model in St. Tropez Blue Firemist Poly. The car was dismantled, sprayed with SprayMax 2K clear and detailed with Bare Metal Foil along with lots of other little things. The side mirrors are scratch built and the missing hood ornament was replaced from a spare I had from another Cadillac model. For the interior tub I did not take anything apart as doing so has risk of part breakage. I masked and painted the dashboard first. Installed carpeting using epoxy, and later tweezers & toothpick used to get them in place. The wood appliques is shelf liner from Dollar store. Added seat belts and both indicator & gear lever. Dash and instrument cluster details painted with toothpick from a diluted can of black and silver paint. I added the straps at the back of the seats and carpeting for the bottom of the door inserts. Ash trays are made of tiny pieces of aluminum from Coke can. Also installed brake and accelerator pedal to make it look more realistic. If you look closely you'll find a 8 track tape on the stereo!

My recently restored MPC 1/25 scale 1972 Dodge Tradesman custom van. The upper body is Tamiya Italian Red TS-8 and lower body is Tamiya Mica Blue Metallic TS-64. Interior parts painted with Rustoleum, Tremclad, Krylon, Color Splash, Premier, & Martha Stewart spray paint. I always reserve the expensive and high quality paint for the exterior and the cheaper paint for interior parts, engine, & chassis. This van is painted to make you think of sunset at the sea. The front bumper on this van is resin because the original piece was missing.

Thanks James! Yes the Mercury Comet and the Ford Maverick are identical cars with slight differences in the rear and front end styling.

Nice build! I remember seeing Camaro & Firebird droptops in season 4 and 5 of Charlie's Angels.
