Since we're talking about 1958 car designs......
Ken replied to a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The La Tosca looks like a re-work of the Futura. Most of those designs are groooooovy!!!! Hey, at least they are not bricks with wheels -
After I dropped this one and cracked the paint, I had to strip it and repaint. This time the paint job was not as good, but you can't tell from 3 feet Same as before, Aoshima celica GT liftback, ancient motorized kit, but the only one available. Wheels and tires are Aoshima as well. Stripped the chrome and shot them real quick with testors metalizer Titanium followed by a dusting of Tamiya clear. The stance is not finalized yet. I want to lower it a bit all around. You can't tell in the photos, but the spokes on the rims were polished and the rest left dull. Oh yeah, make sure that the BMF you use is a new sheet and not an old one. Notice all the leftover adhesive and little bits of BMF that still show. Where's that alcohol and q-tips Low 3 quarter front view... nice and agressive!! Paint job rubbed out pretty well using gregg's q-tip and tamiya compound method. Also, mequirers(spelling???) will work as well. For marc, here is my redneck photobooth

No disrespect Tom! I think the truck looks sweet. For some reason I saw the plug wires and my brain immediately went to the 'two speed wiper motor' controversy

Minolta Dimage A1. 5 megapixel, hand me down from my dad. 200mm lense with digital doubler. Lighting is accomplished with a cardboard box with three sides cut out and desk lamps on all three sides. Posterboard for a seamless background. Bulbs were 100 watt for the main light on the right side of the photos. 60 watts for the fill and back lights. Oh yeah, the cutouts in the box are covered with standard left over christmas present tissue paper. I whipped it up in about an hour or so today. The pics were edited just a bit in photoshop to remove some of the 'noise' and brighten them up a bit. I will effort a pic of my 'redneck' photo booth tomorrow.

Not to nit-pick and point out your 2 speed wiper(sorry, really old bad Joke aimed at mr Geary), but should the plug wires go to the front? Sorry, the truck looks really nice. I like the color, and it is better than mine, since it is finished I like the gas tank!

Nother one taking up bench space right now. Tamiya 1/48th Tiger 1. Great little kit, even with the quirky die-cast chassis. Got a sherman to go with it and even an M10 to take it out!!! One more photo. This is the rascal that takes off with my parts!!!! How can you stay mad at a face like this!!!

Playing with the camera again. Even set up a photo booth. Re-shooting a bunch of old stuff. Here are some new pics. AMT 29 roadster on Revell 26 Buttera T chassis. Engine from Revell Speedwagon. Scratched interior.

Working Rear Shocks and Driveshaft with articulated U-joints

I remember seeing the red one in person at the IPMS nats, when they were held in OKC a couple of years ago. This one make that one seem like a toy. Which is saying a lot, cause the red one just blew my mind when I saw it. This is just incredible!! Especially, watching it come together!!! -
4-lug Minilite wheels???
Ken replied to USAC_1957's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have a couple different celica kits I will look at each one. I know the one does, I will check the other. If I have two sets and they are what you are looking for I will let you know -
Anyone looking for a CARS avatar?
Ken replied to Mr. Can Am Garage's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I claim Mario or 'the king' haven't decided yet... The tuners remind me of Jada diecasts -
after pondering the photo for awhile, I think I may make some changes. Specifically the wheel and their color. I may strip the crome and paint them a darker metallic. Magnesium or titianum(spelling????) something a bit darker to set off the Grabber green. Keep trying Steve.

I remember that you posted a picture a while back of you old school Skyline. I am looking at a Fujimi kit of that car and was wondering about the quality. I realize that it is an older kit and won't have the fidelity of the newer kits. The Fujimi that I am looking at includes an engine. I was just wondering if this kit is like the celica I am working on and was once motorized and such? If not, is the interior decent? Just looking for an overall review of the kit. Thanks Ken Oh yeah, here is the box top for the kit. It is really what grabbed me

Finally got some measure of work done on the Aoshima 77 Celica liftback I got off of Ebay. Since I believe that it was strongly influenced by the 69-70 mustang, I thought it was only fitting that I use a 69-70 ford color. It is grabber green. I am thinking of blacking out part of the hood, ala Boss 302 paint job. The wheels are Aoshima 18 inch Work Emotion CR Kai. I will lower the front and the rear just a tad, but not much. The interior will be Testors MM Fabric Gray. I might just be able to finish this before the end of the year... Yeah right, what am I saying Oh yeah, all you bench snoopers, that is the Tamiya 1/35 HHMV in the background. That one is being built without aftermarket parts. The next is get the Verlinden update and Tamiya's excellent modern vehicle stowage set complete with the slatted IR identification panels

You are a lucky man!!! To be able to find fluff where you live. All we get here is marshmellow creme. Oh, the heady days of youth, where the fluffernutters were more fluff than nutters. Somewhere I think I still have one of the giant plastic tubs that fluff used to come in. Oh Yeah, the model looks really nice too

Just got back from hobby lobby and hopefully the wife will not find out. Picked up a Kei's Office D1 S15, a set of the Volk TE37s and one of the Mad Max Interceptors. I was very glad to snag one of the interceptors as availability of those is spotty. Now to build them

Something different on the workbench: Just finished
Ken replied to ismaelg's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I have at least two or three non-automotive projects going all the time. In the process of wrapping up the Tamiya 1/48 Tiger 1 and Sherman. I also have a Dragon King Tiger in 1/35th going and two Tamiya M1025 Humvees. One Humvee is straight out of the box waiting on a coat or two of Tamiya Buff and some weathering. The other is just started and will have the Verlinden update and serious weathering. -
I will have to go check my local when I get off work today. I just snagged 2 of the LXZs. That was all they had at the time. Just made the trip to Tulsa last weekend and spent way too much at Top Shelf Models(one of the best locals I have seen in quite some time). So I will have to keep the wheel buying to a minimum for a bit. I will check tonight

I did the same thing. First one I stopped in had the box... but it was empty. I took it to the front to show them. The second one I stopped at had 2 boxes and I bought them both. Along with an Aoshima Mazadaspeed RX-7. Kid at the counter very nicely gave me 50% off all of it. When I tried to correct him he said never mind and let me go on my way I may have to do some horse trading for some other wheels

Ken replied to crispy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I got the last re-issue and they were stolen out of my storage shed. They left the dishwasher and power tools, but took the BSG kits... must have been kids. -
See what I mean, I need to quit seeing posts and pics like that!!! That is one fine build sir!!! I need to just focus and finish what I got.... Yeah right, like that can happen

? about engine in new Ala Kart kit
Ken replied to USAC_1957's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I will let those more knowledgeable than I chime in if they want, but this engine is much smaller than a baby hemi. If you want a better baby hemi, look for the AMT model A roadster(the original Ala-Kart kit) This was just recently discontinued and should not be hard to find. You could also wait on the release of the AMT 53 ford, which has a great baby hemi in it. I believe that it also has several induction options for it as well. I believe that the last issue of the 53 pickup had a single carb and a multi carb option for intakes. The engine in the new Ala Kart kit is more along the lines of a six cylinder block than eight.
