  1. Some of my local Hobby Lobby stores had the Bonnie 'vert on sale for eleven bucks and change. Even knowing the kit problems, I couldn't pass it up!!! Same way with the 1/8th duece that I paid just over 30$ for
  2. Actually, my dad had knee replacement yesterday. I was off from work and rather than sit and wait for mom to call with news, I pulled out a Fujimi 430 and started sanding mold lines off. I found that while I was still worried about my dad, I did not fixate on it and worry as much. That is part of why I do this hobby. It helps me get in a zone get to my 'happy place', which luckily is not a weirdly populated as Happy Gilmore's place...
  3. Heck with the edge, this is more like roadrunner standing 6 feet from the edge sticking his tongue out at Wiley E Coyote!!!!!! Wicked Good!!!!
  4. Looks good in my book. I have a fujimi 430 and a revell Superamerica coming my way. Hopefully, they will turn out this good.
  5. It is also nice to be able to post when you find a good deal on a kit somewhere else. This is a great board and one you will feel at home with quite easily. I find that it is also easier to catch up on stuff you have missed if you can't check the board for a week or so at a time like me.
  6. Actually, the shipping is quite reasonable, I feel. Most internet vendors will charge your 7-9 dollars depending on the amount spent and where it is coming from. Squadron is located in Texas and does a very good job with the shipping. I use them for mainly military stuff as most of the car related stuff is too expensive. I also get most of my tamiya paint from them. Also, unlike some of the other internet vendors, if it is out of stock, it shows out of stock. On my last order, with 5 bottles of paint and the kit shipping was only 5.95 and it most likely will be here tomorrow afternoon. Of course, I only live 4 hours or so north of them
  7. looks like a quick and dirty GS coupe start to me. I know that there are other differences. It looks like to me, that somebody started a Grand Sport and didn't get the okay from the brass. So it got issued as a 'custom'. I know that they are different years, but I don't think that there would not be much work involved... of course, I have been wrong before... ask my wife
  8. As if you need another excuse to add one more Ferrari to your collection, I humbly offer this tease... http://www.squadron.com/ItemDetails.asp?item=FU12256
  9. Hey Lordairgtar, I may have some pins for you. I will look around. Right now, the collecting bug is interested in ex-FSU(Former Soviet Union) cameras. These are Leica and Contax copies. After WWII, the soviets 'relieved' the germans of the Leica and the Contax factories along with the engineers related to them. The soviets then trucked the factories back to Russia and began producing cameras. I also collect russian watches as well. Most of these cost more to ship than to buy right now, but that is changing.
  10. I have been in the process of scanning and cleaning up old negatives. I found this one at the bottom of a drawer. I thought on, Brian would like this and two even with all the scratches and stuff, it was still a neat picture. This was my first car and one of the best. 1977 Toyota Celica with the 20R engine and a 5 speed. I may it back and forth across the country twice with this car. It even made it from Abilene TX to Baltimore MD with only 3rd, 4th and 5th gears. It died one day and I could not figure out why. I got rid of the car and started my love affair with Darts. I know now that it was the timing belt that went on the car. If I could find one again that I could afford, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
  11. Cheapest Photo 'cube' you can get is this... This is just a cardboard box with 3 sides cut out and wrapping tissue taped to the sides. 2 to 3 clamp lamps are used with 100 watt bulbs in each lamp. With it, your photos can go from this To this... The box can even be taken outside to help with shadows on a sunny day. The tissue may need to be doubled or tripled on the top, but it should do enough to diffue the sunlight.
  12. Just watched it with the sound cranked!!!!! I was home alone and just had to do it. All the cats just gave me the 'look of death' for waking them for something so trival...
  13. The second car is what I think of when I hear formula 1 or Indy car racing. Maybe because that is what I saw growing up or the influence of my father(wanted to drive formula V for years), but those 'missle' cars will always be my favorite. Probably why I have 6 or 7 of the olsonite eagles and such in my stash.
  14. If you have the Cuda, then you kind of know what you are in for. The kit is an excellent late sixties pro-stock kit. Mine is out in the shed so I can't give you a run down of what is inside. If I remember correctly, which most likely I won't, the kit is an great starting point for a decent replica. Some one else will have to chime in on what is actually in the kit.
  15. The Dragon Lady AMX was re-issued by testors. I believe that it was called a pro-street AMX. Came with white metal wheels and some photo-etch bits. I have one at home, but I am at work right now so I can't give you the kit number.
  16. Hey Mike, if you are the only one, then I picked a bad week to quit sniffing glue!!!!! Dennis, I am sworn to secrecy on the location of the yard and as far as I know, nothing is for sale. Makes no sense to me either :?
  17. If properly cleaned and lubricated, they can be near as quiet as a leica. They are the same design as the pre-war and early post war leicas. The lenses are exact copies of the Carl Ziess glass that went on the pre-war leicas and contaxes. I have been very happy with the quality of the images. The above black and white was taken with the Zorki 3 that is now in parts. The 35 mm lens that I have is great! It out performs my nikon glass. Although, I did get a new 24mm lens for the nikon and it is just too much fun. It will focus down to about 6 inches!!!!! I could go on for hours about the camera stuff, but this is a model board
  18. I would have to say the AMT 28 tudor, does anybody re-pop that in resin? Johan's 60 Desoto or Plymouth wagon would be next. That is all I can think of right now. I got the Aoshima Celica, but another would be nice. The 70 dart will soon be attainable when the Hemi Hunter comes out. I can kit-bash with the 8 billion 68/69 darts that I have. The trunk lid will be easy to replicate as it is just flat shapes. I will come up with more as time moves on
  19. trying to be a builder, but life right now is making me a collector
  20. Not much really, March is basketball seaon, so the news business around here gets quite busy. I have been trying to get some 'artsy' photos together for a show(I was actually asked to be in without any pestering from me or the wife). Ratings is only a month away, so I have started shooting stuff for that. Headed out to the US capitol in a week or so for that. The wife started a new job and that has made us busy on top of that. Plus with spring around the corner, the honey-do list has gotten larger (just like Leon...) I have found time to work on a few things, so here is the bench shoot for the month of march Thats right, I have really only been working on cameras right now. This is a Zorki 3M. They were produced for two years 54-56 in the former Soviet Union. They are copies of the pre-war Leicas. This one has a roll of film winding its way through it right now. Once the film is developed I will know what needs to be fixed on it. This one is completely disassembled right now. The shutter curtains, which are made of fabric, where in shambles. I am in middle of replacing the curtains. I hope to have this one back together by the end of the month. As far as the 'artsy' photos are concerned I am moving along in that project pretty well. I think I have 10-12 picked out right now. One of my favorites is this one I found that beauty just down the road. The junkyard that it resides in is jinxed I believe. Everytime I have gone to shoot there I have broken at least one camera, which explains the second one above(it died on the first trip and thus the complete tear down. This last trip, the motordrive on my Nikon puked the bed. But I was able to shoot a bunch of digital stuff, so here are some pics from that. There are 70 some-odd pictures at the link, so enjoy. Maybe I will be able to get to work on a model soon  http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v208/cgarman/Junkyard/
  21. I did see some of the 1/64th diecast 'Full Throttle' cars at Wal-mart the other day. Next time I see some I will have to buy them...
  22. Looks like great stuff. The price is a bit steep, but I believe that amount of pieces you could "chrome" would make the cost per piece a good value. Steve, the Chrome costs the same as well. From the video, it looks like you could get quite a bit of stuff painted with one can.
  23. Ken

    Top Secret

Got the same kit and it does fall together quite easily. I just misplaced the body somewhere in the stash. Eventually I will find it in a box. Hopefully, mine will turn out as good!!!!
  24. This is the newest addition to the menagerie. His given name is Zeus, but he goes by several other 'colorful' names as well He is a 'goofy' sleeper as well Bill...
  25. Topping again in reference to the Trucks thread and a question. How did you do the weathering on the frame rails? Is it just paint or did you use the magic rust stuff? I still think the color is cool!
