  1. speaking of go fast machines... type GixerKart into Youtube and watch!!!!
  2. Okay, for some reason I have been on a Monty Python quote kick lately... Anyway, this one time at band camp... The real post is... did anyone catch the new Knight Rider last night. Wasn't too bad. The wife and I had to watch it, being fans of the old show. The Hoff did make an appearance. It was just as goofy as the old show. Some of the CGI effects were very computerish-looking. Especially if you know the Vegas strip. In all, it was a decent add on to the series and did not do harm to the old show. It is not like they got some hot-at-moment pop star to play the cousin like some other unmentionable series adaptation It was two hours of predictable hollywood schmooze and sentiment. The real star of the show, while not a Firebird, they did do a good job with the Stang... Revell is releasing a Shebly 500, right?
  3. WOOO HOOOOO!!!! man! those are gonna be great! They look fan-dang-tastic!
  4. You are not far from reality there. Way back in the seventies, there was a farm league for the F1 circut based on VW engines. It was called Formula V. I have thought long and hard about taking a built up Gurney indy car I have and sticking a V-dub engine in the back. One thought, what about a V section running from the front to the back to give it a bit more of a forward rake? Great start!!
  5. Lucky for me I stocked up when they first came out. I have three in storage. Then I also stocked up when the local Hobby Lobbies and walmarts put the 68 GSS Dart on clearance. Somewhere, I have like ten or so of those. They are great kits and Revell needs to keep this one in the line up for ages. I am always amazed how fast the prices on these things rise when they are 'discontinued' So, what are the plans for it?
  6. I think that the basic block for the RB26 is okay, but that is all as others have said. I plan to scratch everything else up. I might use the kit turbo or something else. It is the only one in 1/25th. Until Revell gives us a first gen 180/s13.... Please!!!! Think D1 and such. It seems like such a no brainer as they are insanely popular on the street. Usually, people stuff an RB20 into them, but I have seen RB26s in them. I think that Revell could smack one out of the park knowing how popular the first runs of the tuners were.
  7. My wife is kind of cool about it all. She does occasionally give me a hard time about all the unbuilt kits and 'Why do you need another XYZ!!' I am pretty good about keeping the spending under control as well. It also doesn't hurt that I tend to build/putter in the great room while she watches TV or reads just a couple of feet away. I also make sure that I spend time talking with her and what not when I first get home. I keep telling her... 'Would you rather that I spend the money at the bar???'
  8. I know at least with Trumpeter's aircraft kits, the latest 1/32nd are INCREDIBLE!!! The earlier issues had some issues. Off the top of my head I can think of two glaring issues. The P-40B cockpit was too shallow and the Corsair's cockpit did not have the open floor of the real one. The A-10 was very well received. The Mig 21(I bought two) were very well received. The P-40B/C was well received even with the cockpit problem. heck, who would have ever thought that we would have not one but three MIG 3s to chose from (1/32nd 1/48th and 1/72nd). So let us hope that Trumpeter learned from their last lesson and that this one will be great!!
  9. I finally got my 2 Revell Deuce Sedans!!!!!!! : I have already opened one and grokked it but good. I know that it has been said already, but a big kudos to the boys at Revell for this modified re-issue. Definitely gets my vote for 'Modified Re-issue of the Year" Now, the hard part... how to build it!!!
  10. I am a blood-sucking leach, otherwise known as a TV journalist. I don't appear on TV, I just shoot the pictures you watch and go... "Why the heck did they put that on???" Job can be fun... Flying in the helicopter chasing tornaders, getting to do my special series on WW2 vets and their stories. Why yesterday, I shot the Clinton formally known as President and got away with it . Job can be #@$%@$#^@^@!!!! Like today, standing on the side of the road with my camera so we can show you what snow looks like... getting called out a 2 am for housefires etc... I gotta find a new job.
  11. I have 5 or 6 Hobby Lobbies around me. Helps to live in the home city of said company. Right now, I have seen, a Tamiya yellow Enzo for 11.00$; Revell 41 Willys, Shelby Cobra, 66 GTO, Dodge VTS and Fairlane Thunderbolts for around 3.50$ A slew of AMT stuff mainly 72 GTOs for the same price. Some of the Aoshima TE37s and Kranez LXI for 3.50 to 5.50$ I picked up a Tamiya 1/35 M1A1 for 12.00$ and several of their modern gear sets for 3.50$. They have yet to have any of the new Revell 32 Sedans. They have just gotten a shipment of the new Stephen Int. stuff; MPC Switchers, 34 Slammer, Super Modifieds and such. I haven't made it to their clearance wharehouse yet. I plan to run by this weekend.
  12. Incredible enough to inspire one more person to dust off a kit. I started mine a couple of weeks ago. I am no where near as fast as you though. Just got the engine block together and painted. You were right though, the kit parts need some work to fit well. As for the wheels, mine were horribly warped, but I have enough kits to possibly piece together a decent set of four. Funny, I have 4 or 5 of these kits, but hadn't had the gumption to start one till I saw yours. Great work Izzy!!!!
  13. They built a great public skate park here in Oklahoma City a couple of years ago. Everyone in the newsroom thought I was crazy when I got so excited about the guests brought in for the opening. It is named after Mr concussion himself Matt Hoffman. When the Tony Hawk Jam came to town they all snuck out one night and overran the park. It was really cool to hang out with someone I grew up reading about in Thrasher and such. I haven't skated in ages. Heck, my last board was a Gator Grahowlski(can't spell it) with tracker six bys and Powell rat bones. I will try and effort some pics to give you some ideas if you want them.
  14. What scale is that Willys? The Nomad is coming along great! I also just saw you were from Have a disgrace. I grew up in Joppatown. You guys used to put a smackdown on us in football when I was in high school. Maybe when I get home this year we can bump into each other.
  15. They are the Aoshima Volk Racing TE37s. Aoshima has included them in just about every tuner release they have done lately. They are also available separately. The hobby lobbies around me have them on clearance right now for just over 5 bucks. After seeing yours in silver I think I may pick up a bunch. I never thought about painting them. The stang looks very nice and nasty!!!
  16. Man those are looking sweet!!! Just another in the long line of hoped for re-issues. The Javelin was one slick car and your definitely do justice to the nameplate
  17. I am in the same state as Marc Nellis... exhaustion No, I am in Oklahoma. Still not done with the power outages though. Lost power this morning for a couple of hours. Tree limbs that were broken in the ice storm, with the wind of the last couple of days, are starting to fall across the power lines.
  18. The new GTR based on the 350Z platform is going to be available in the US starting in 09 I believe. It may be late 08.
  19. The 29 car is way too cool for school!! The cutaway is down right scary !!! can't wait to see you finish this one
  20. Definitely will be one BAD BEE!!!! Love it in that color!!!
  21. Hey, y'all quit yer belly achin!! I haven't got mine yet as no one around here has had it in stock yet. I even had to special order it from the LHS. I may just break down and order one from tower as the special order at the LHS might be two weeks out still
  22. Ok, once work finally got out of the way and the ice melted, I was able to get back to the bench. Dug around in the stash, cause I just have to start a new project... no reason to actually finish one Anyway, I decided on a skyline. I had these two in the stash I decided to combine the two, which were bought cheap enough to justify it, to create a road going monster. Here is the initial mockup with paint... Unfortunately, the paint did not come out well and the mold lines showed up for a second time. Into the purple pond it goes. It is still in there as we speak. I did move it to the 91% alcohol earlier today as the purple stuff was having no effect on the paint. The interior is a combination of the two kits. Surprisingly enough, the Tamiya rollcage fit right into the Aoshima interior without much modification. I did have to scratch up some rear down braces. Haven't decided on an interior color or scheme just yet. The new paint, will be an undercoat of Testors AMC silver metallic and an overcoat of Tamiya Metallic Blue.
  23. If the empty space that you want to fill is on the inside of the body it is easy. Fill it with superglue. I do it in thin layers. Put in some superglue and some baking soda to accelerate it. Add more superglue. Add some more baking soda. Do this till the space is full. Then sand down from the front. You have to start sanding as soon as you finish filling as the superglue will eventually dry harder than the surrounding plastic. Once it is sanded down you can fill imperfections in the superglue with body filler. For very small holes (pinholes) I use either Mr Surfacer 500 or 1000 or... you can use correction fluid.
  24. I have been through this before with another cat and it was not pretty. The vet is confident that we caught the kidney disease early enough that it shouldn't impede her lifestyle too much. He says that with treatment and the proper food she may be back to normal in 6 mos to a year. The wife and I are very confident in her recovery as well. I am more worried about the wife's reaction than the cat's. She is not good with letting go of the kitties. Although, two of the six are kittens, only about 3 months old. They are fireballs. Two speeds only, Ramming speed and sleep.
  25. I got five healthy cats and one with the beginning stages of kidney disease.... Oh yeah, I also got a HUGE vet bill!!!!! Luckily, the cats are good for keeping us warm at night. Gonna have to shut off the heat to pay the vet bill No, it is not that bad, I did buy myself the Revell 30 woody the other day.
