It's a pleasant Iowa day in the mid-1970s and this group is busy preparing for a wild night of 1/2 mile dirt track racing action. That little Camaro has garnered more than it's share of trophys and will likely add another one in just a few hours.

Absolutely perfect

The only thing that keeps me from thinking that you used a shrink ray on a 1:1 is that yours is even better than the full sized car.

Rok, this is in 1/25 scale.

What a wonderful tribute, and a beautiful build also.

Bruce thanks for your comment. Sometimes a joke can be very helpful I need prices on the windows. Now I just have to find some of the used car lot ads from the era.

That is spectacular.

Alright! Where's your shrink ray? Actually, that's better than the 1:1.

I really like your attention to detail, especially around the often forgotten door lines.

Which one; the hot one, the skinny one, or the one that's 60 years out of style? LOL

This is a used car lot diorama that I started working on. It's setting is mid 60s to mid 70s, depending on the mood that I'm in. I'd had plans for this to be a shared diorama with a gas station, but I liked this better. This is the office interior which includes a space heater, office furniture, air conditioner face (left wall), and a lunch bucket, thermos and pile of papers on the right wall. The left wall contains an air conditioner that replaces a window. Here one can see the supports for it and behind the supports is an electrical box. The building is actually a portable unit that's been placed on a metal girder foundation. A close-up view of the building in its location on the diorama. Here's a little fun in B&W.

I finally broke down and finished this poor thing. Now it's ready to go to work knocking down the dust on Iowa's gravel roads. -
Garage Shop Diorama completed
The Modeling Hermit replied to The Modeling Hermit's topic in WIP: Dioramas
I'm not sure there is such a thing as a completed diorama. There were some things such as brick with no grout and a floor that was way too clean, that were really bothering me. Secondary details such as a spotless engine stand had to be attended to also. So I can now call this a completed diorama until I find something else to work on.- 13 replies

It sure looks a lot better than the one I restored a couple years ago. That continental kit really ads class to it.

The quality of your work is beyond words to describe it. This is absolutely fabulous! -
Sorry Charlie. I built this one when I was a kid and don't remember much about it. It's sprayed, so it must have been about 68 or 69 that I built it because that's sbout when I started using spray paints on my models. I do think that I will go ahead and do the wheel backwash on it.

You're right about the wheels. I wasn't detailing like that back when I built this car, and it's been around so long that I don't even notice anymore. I should go back through all my old kits and do some detailing, but that usually opens a can of worms and ends up a full restoration.

Here at Otto Ray Sing Classic Model Car Sales, our truck drivers are just as knowledgeable as the rest of the staff when it comes to classic cars and their value, and they have to have a love for classic cars too. Being out on the road gives them opportunities to scout out cars which makes them quite valuable to us. Generally they report back to the shop and somebody is sent out to check the vehicle out further. They are given agency to make a purchase if conditions warrant it, and in this case the conditions were warranted. Sippie "Widow Woman" Wallace, one of our drivers, was returning from a run and stopped for fuel at a small Truck Stop. While she was pumping fuel this 62 Buick Electra 225 convertible drove in with a for sale sign in the window, and a price marked at $6,500.00. She did a little talking, a lot of smiling, and bought the owners lunch, and the car changed hands for a lot less money than that, and that car got loaded on the trailer. Here she's showing her "catch" to Elias, our sales rep and appraiser. She's going to get a substantial finder's fee for this one.

Garage Shop Diorama completed
The Modeling Hermit replied to The Modeling Hermit's topic in WIP: Dioramas
Thanks Tom. The restroom is actually freestanding as it was an afterthought, and I had to fiddle with it to get it back in there. I once worked in a tire shop where somebody had just tossed up a couple plywood walls to make a restroom and it didn't look much different than that, and is where I got the idea. Those walls weren't very straight either and whenever one closed the door, the walls would shake.- 13 replies

Are you sure that you haven't got a shrink ray stashed away someplace? That is beautiful.

I finally completed the Garage Shop diorama for photography. I chose to start a new thread because of the amount of changes I made. This end contains a bench with mismatched cabinets above it. Assorted debris rest on top of them. Here I've added a parts washing station and old exhaust pipes fill the garbage can Under the loft is a restroom. The completed scene allows room for the vehicle to be moved for the best affect. I own an amplifier about the size of the one on the loft, and I know that I sure wouldn't want to haul it up that ladder. I can now pose my models in a much more real setting for photographing them.
