  1. i you are correct. sometimes my dogma over rides my diplomacy. gotta work on that . . .
  2. in this day & age, i still see spark plug wire that could be heater hose for its size & lack of 'droopy-ness'. as Dr Cranky says, scale modeling "is a journey."
  3. exactly. except for the nails part. and the holes. oh; and the wood grain. but other than that, it's exactly the same.
  4. this falls in line with my 'nail' theory. as a railroad model builder, i see way too many 1:87 scale buildings with nails applied to every iota of their surface. at least that's the illusion of what the builder intends us to see. let's assume we view a model building from 1'0" away (87 scale feet). but as a check, go outside and stand 87 feet away from a building, and note how many nails you see. to compound the odd illusion, model 'nails' are often holes poked with some type of needle. so we are presented with unnaturally large holes passed off as super detailed nails. let's not get started on deep scribed wood grain; that's for another day . . . .
  5. Martin at Night Shift YouTube channel may be of some help. basically he uses Tamiya Extra Thin solvent/ adhesive mixed with Tamiya Putty and stipples it where he needs texture. sand it back if it's too aggressive.
  6. Trumpeter model kits from the military range are quite nice.
  7. one of my favorite pastimes is sketching, so i am forever making drawings & research notes.
  8. oft times this is a hard message to get across. some equate mere quantity with enjoyment. some just want to "do a poppa-wheelie."
  9. i would not hesitate to use one on the hood And one on the trunk. maybe even cut off the mounting pin, sand one side flat, and add one for each of the doors, too. if you're gonna represent, may as well make it a 360 degree experience.
  10. i didn't see your question, but the kit tires were kapoot so he used Revell motorcycle & sidecar tires. but that might not answer it either.
  11. emblems @ Jo-Han 3d (starts @ 6:00) https://youtu.be/Sc-ehkogTx0?si=2jfYKQr6i2pG2Yz6&t=360
  12. there seems to be a bigger variety now, but may have been mentioned earlier in this thread. (i don't have the energy to dig through 5 pages of disappointment - first & last were enough) starts around 4:15: https://youtu.be/Sc-ehkogTx0?si=1hzRGTlgL-EJNRKw&t=266
  13. there's a YouTube channel that only builds show related cars. of course i forgot the name found it:
  14. Todd & Buzz. amazed it took 3 pages to mention this show.
  15. it's not the fenders; it's the running boards. fenders to the body in the rear/ cycle in the front. half-channel so enough frame shows to give the body some foundation. wheels are your choice; wouldn't want you to think i'm being manipulative.
  16. maybe try one of the low rider forums? those guys are like all over the bombs & such. Model Cars | LayItLow.com Lowrider Forums
  17. up here, we just get a bottle of Kiwi, a 2" brush, and have at it!
  18. i don't know Cadillacs, but you might want to expand the search to photo-etch supplier. The Model Car Garage - The Model Car Garage Products – J&J Scale Designs
  19. Q: is there an advantage to using these three products in one mixture: #71.262, #70.524, & #70.597 ? seems they all have some of the same properties. thanks
  20. looks 100% better than stock kit frame.
