  3. I agree. On FB there is all kinds of complaining about the fit of all the reissues.The problem is new builders build a couple snap petes,that literally fall together, then get in to building a round2 and the drama starts and they give up.
  4. I'd buy the amt Alaska hailer bumper,propane tanks and headache rack.The problem with selling say a dump body for example is people would moan about how much work converting a chassis to fit would be

Ive take mine out of the package and looked it over.as mentioned the attachment poins are big. hopefully a bmf repair wont show too much.It wouls look great on a vintage amt W900 or ertle 4300 because of all the chrome in those kits. I'll probably paint mine with semi gloss though when I use it
  6. The neat thing about this truck is that its still around ,but updated into todays looks with double bunk,alum.wheels, a silly big bumper among other things.I'll try to locate the picture and post it
  7. I think its a fine base kit for the conversion.the third stick is a handle for the tans, mounted parking brake.the trans. is a duplex

  11. I'm trying to find out when mack stopped painting econodyne engines green and went to grey. A early dm could be green but have yet to confirm.the box art is mislabelled calling the engine a maxidyne.maxidyne's are gold...well the ones that are available in models any ways
  12. they would be hauled on a "beam" trailer.A beam trailer has no deck,just the frame.the frame would go between the tires and the differentials would sit on the beams so the tires are only a few inches off the ground keeping the load under 13'6"

Those steps first apeared as a time dc special order that carried over to other customers.The steps were in production for one or two years then updated,but were options.Even in 73 or it might of been 74 when ladder type steps came into law you could order a freightliner with out them.Freightliners were a true custom ordered truck.The cab is two piece because a standard non sleeper cab was produced first,amt was just cutting costs.Front brakes were optional on tandem trucks because the law said "must have brakes on two axles".Thats why the first version standard cab had them it is a two axle truck,again amt carried over some tooling.The thinking about front brakes was the fronts would lock up and have no steering control and back then they kept the front as light as possible.it is possible to get the cab seam pretty good if you put a sandpaper on a piece of glass and sand the edges square
  15. the axle is a bit too wide,but much worse is the mounting pins,they are off center.put the cab on the frame then center the axle.Some amt axles have spacers that hold the wheel pins,if the freightliner has them you maybe able to elliminate them to tuck the wheels in
  16. you would end up with frame rails and a few chrome bits left over.The bill signs uses different frame ,tanks, stacks and other chrome stuff, will give you about the same left overs plus a little more chrome and bunk.These 2 kits are your basic ROG kit with extras to build each unique model.So the short answer is no

  18. another 500000 recalls announced today.Caddy and saab rear suspension issues.72 different recalls this year alone. Somewhere around 10000000 vehicles .How can they afford this ?The shop hours alone is staggering.

  20. is it fair to compare a challenger ,Camaro, or stang to a world class sportscar like the vette? Totally different class of automobiles
  21. that's why corvette production was suspended when the 82 z28 came out.it was far more superior to the vette
  22. my thoughts are he T and beetle are the only ones that are cars not simply car names maybe history would of repeated its self if not for the buy outs over the years
  23. if they are updated they will loose the "classic" look to the "aero" look
