  1. Thanx for all the kind words everyone. I especially appreciate the fact that your favorites range over such a variety of styles. So far I'm building in a solidly Old School vein but it's still surprising what a varied selection of subjects and types of builds can be gotten out of this seemingly narrow area. Maybe for 2010 I can move into more contemporary themes! But I gotta have my hot rods and diggers....
  2. What took you so long? Boy, this one went together at the speed o' light. Ain't inspiration a beautiful thing? Speaking of beautiful, this is one gorgeous car. I agree about the color. It really shows off the (quite literally) sculptured surface development. How frustrating that I will probably never see this stunning machine in real life and will have to content myself with on-line pictures! I would love to see some more "plain vanilla" side, front and rear 3/4 view shots so I can savor the flowing lines.
  3. Maybe not too many for '09, but such a lovely quartet of channeled '32's is something any builder would be proud of. I can recall a w.i.p. on the black sedan but the others escape me. Any links to either Under Glass or w.i.p.'s for these cars? To my eyes the 5-window is especially fetching. The proportions of the deep channel contrasting with the unchopped body shell and the bright color, wide whites and chrome details all combine exceptionally well. I always enjoy your work and look forward to seeing more in Twenty-Ten!
  4. “OK Hiro-san, first you decide on what car you’re going to produce, right? So what do you do, just unilaterally dictate something you feel like doing?†“Yep†“Nice..†“Something I like.†“But you probably do some customer requests, right?†“Nope. Just things I like.†Ain’t it grand! Great videos!!!! Thanx for sharing.

  6. Year 2 of my return to modeling. Every build was another step along the way. Thanx to everyone on the MCM board for lookin’, for the great builds, the stimulating discussion, the super tips and information, and the encouragement and camaraderie. 7. I'm glad somebody else counted them because I sure couldn't! The Bugatti was a terrific send off to '09 which must have gone down as a vintage year for you. I know I certainly enjoyed so many of the models you created in the past 12 months. The variety and virtuosity are aspects of your work which I always look to with anticipation. As our mutual friend always says...Thanks for sharing! And I'm certainly looking forward to seeing what comes off your bench in 2010. All the best this holiday season, B.
  8. Verrrrry impressive return to the hobby. Prolific output and clean builds of interesting subjects. Looks like year one was an enjoyable year! Two thumbs up!
  9. Thanx everyone for the props! It's really appreciated. OK, I'm wracking my brain but I just can't come up with it... What would be the RIGHT I-6?
  10. Great '09 "comeback". Nice variety of builds. My faves are the Crown Vic, The '34 Coupe and the trailer.
  11. This was my first model kit: The 1939 & 1940 double Indianapolis 500 winner driven by Wilbur Shaw, the Boyle Special, a Maserati 8CTF. A very simple curbside kit molded in metallic burgundy (must have been very advanced plastics for its day) and featuring real rubber tires and separate exhaust pipe, seat and steering wheel. I seem to remember using some metallic silver paint my mother had for antiquing stuff to do the grill, wheels, exhaust and steering wheel spokes. It was so simple I built it in part of an afternoon. I was 10 and I was hooked. Up to then I collected built small scale car models like Dinky Toys and Corgi. After that I never bought another built up model. Never have. I also almost never built anything but automobiles. My best friend in high school was an awesome airplane modeler so I tried some then but it just wasn't my thing... The incredible thing is that I did a web search on "Aurora Models" and the kit picture above was my first hit! Ain't the Internet grand?
  12. I really enjoyed following along on the workbench segment. Your attention to detail and improvements to the basic kit were all on the mark and the result shows it. It's a beautifully executed build that takes this old kit to another level. Two thumbs up!
  13. Exquisite!!!
  14. John: Beautifully conceived and executed '32s. The 1/24 Monograms are especially impressive since there's such a large amount of work required to get them from the basic kits to your results. But they're all stunners. Two thumbs up!
  15. Waow!!! Kurt, ça c'est un modéle MA-GNI-FIQUE! Tres belle réalisation! Bravo!
  16. Yup, that one's pretty terrific, too!
  17. Great stuff, Randy. Nice '09 you had. I either missed or have forgotten most of these. Thanx for the reprise. They're all beautifully done but the Greenwood 'Vette and the Nomad conversion are outstanding!
  18. I keep jumping back to the 1 1/2 pictures posted at the beginning of this thread to appreciate what an amazing job your doing at building a replica of this car. As was already said, it's not easy to model a rough and ready subject like this successfully. And so far you've got it covered, big time! Are those M.A.S. wire wheels at the front? They're almost too pretty for this build (but actually spot on when you look at the picture of the 1:1).
  19. Nice work at the rear of the frame. And the textures and colors on the engine are very cool. Hope you get 'er done for '09!
  20. I've only seen some of these as the year flew by. My faves are the Sharpie Lambo (spectacular!), the early 60's Detroit iron lowriders, the BRG Speedracer and of course the Death Racer. Hope you have another great year in 2010!
  21. I have to admit to being a real junky when it comes to fabrication, I guess that's why I like drag cars so much. They lend themselves to scratch building especially well. That front suspension is great. (I also like the support on the back of the roll cage - nice touch.) Like Dave, can't wait to see the spindles...
  22. You're moving along at warp speed now! The color scheme sounds fabulous. It will be exciting to see the surfaces "solidify" in their various colors and textures. The contrast between the exterior color(s) and the carbon fiber details peaking through the large windows and in the engine compartment should be especially cool.
  23. Here are my three so far: Revell 3-window 1/24 Revell/Monogram Roadster Revell 5-window
  24. Yahoo!!!!
  25. Looks great! Most of the mechanical bits such as the engine, transmission, drivetrain , etc. look to be from the Bugatti kit you used. What parts did you land up scratch building in those areas? The leather trunk strap is especially cool. Did you make it?
