Since the car is going to be towed I would do 2 things to it. I would add an oil pan and then make some kind of cover or tarp to put over the engine. It just seems logical to cover these areas as towing it wide open like this would likely ruin the engine. Unless that engine is just there for a mock up..... The tarp would be easy...just dilute some white glue and apply it to some tissue paper. Lay it on the engine so it conforms to the shape of the engine. Then when it's dry, paint it like a tarp. Add some "rope" to tie it down and it's done!. Just a suggestion...

Nice job! I agree with you on those headers. And the other thing I don't care for on this kit is the size of the front tires. It always seems to make the front end look too heavy to my eye. I guess I prefer big n littles on a hot rod...

Me too man! First one was a boy...and he turned out to be 5-8..barely 150 lbs...then a girl...who turned out just at 5-0! Then I got married again and we had a boy...who turned out to be 6-2 at 230 lbs!...then a girl...who ended up at 5-6!!! What the heck? No consistency there! Yeah I know it was a typo...just couldn't resist a little fun!

I don't think so. If that were true, most of us would be FINISHING all these models we start! -
What is the star for?
Terry Sumner replied to Terry Sumner's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks Chuck! -
Why do a few topics have a star in the first column on the left when most of the others have a round dot? Anyone know what the star shape signifies? Just curious...

No pictures handy at the moment, but here are the "famous" people I met in my State Police Career... I picked up Tip O'Neil, who was then Speaker of the House, at the airport and drove him to some kind of political fund raiser in Norwich, Ct. I picked up Col. Oliver North from the same airport sometime after the whole Iran-Contra thing and took him to some kind of dinner in New London, Ct. I have a pic of me with him but can't find it right now. In June of 1990, during the New England Governor's Conference which was held in Mystic, Ct., I was assigned as the bodyguard to the Prime Minister of New Brunswick, Canada, Frank McKenna and his wife. I drove him to and from the conference and anywhere else they wanted to go for three days. His wife wanted to go shopping during the day so I had to show her where some good places were to get some certain items she wanted....patio furniture cushions as I recall...lol. I was on the Security detail for President Bill Clinton's visit to the Coast Guard Academy and got to stand within about 25' of him. And I was on the security detail for Tipper Gore when she paid a visit to New London, Ct and was within a few feet of her at times. And then there were all the various Governors of Conn. during my years on the job where I was involved in security details... As for car guys?.. well I got to meet a heck of a lot of drivers in the early 70's when I was one of the announcers at Ct. Dragway. Wish I had pics but wasn't even thinking of taking pics at those times... wish I had.

Yep...that news was out a while ago... Actually it's Hobbico that acquired them. Here's the thread from a few weeks ago... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=54209&hl=%2Brevell+%2Bgermany&fromsearch=1 -
Well my credit card has been charged the full amount of the order I made so I'm taking this as a pretty good sign they had all the sheets I was looking for. Yay!

Wow! Looks to me like you are well on your way to a pretty darn good finish! I think maybe the other fellow might be in trouble!

Well for my 1000th post it's too bad it has to be on a sad subject. I had thought they were only going to shut down the decal part. After all, they sold a lot more than just the decals. I got some paint from them and some resin... well it's just a shame. Greedy so and so's with this licensing ######. I mean geez...how much are they gonna get out of such a small operation ya know?

Wow, what a coincidence... your name is Mike Foley and you are...or were... a cop. I had a brother Trooper here in Conn. by the name of Mike Foley!
-
I agree Donn...I've not physically spoken with Becky...only in emails...and she was terrific! BTW, they're just stopping decal production right? I mean, are they still continuing with the rest of their business or are they shutting down the whole thing?

You know Hans....to be a great paint job it doesn't have to be "trick." If you could just lay down a perfect say...candy paint job...or pearl..or whatever...then you will have done well. Just trying to achive that flawless finish is a worthy and many times trying goal all by itself. Because, in my opinion, all the trickiness in the world doesn't count if the basic paint isn't great to begin with... Good luck! 'Course that's just my opinion...others will vary!

For me it's the simple pleasure of making something with my hands. I've always been the type of person who loves to accomplish things with my own two hands. I like to be as independant of the help of others as much as I possibly can...yet I practically live to help my friends in their endeavors or with their problems. It's the primary reason I built such a huge garage/woodshop...so I can do things myself and for my friends. I'm always building something in wood for someone...or there is always some friend in my car shop using either my car lift or the bike lift to fix something on his car or motorcycle. And a large part of that is the camaraderie that goes on when friends are over in the garage and we're all in there having a bs session and a coupl'a beers. Modeling is just another one of my outlets for working with my hands.

Dreaming of a model?
Terry Sumner replied to jmpsebring's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I can't recall any dreams. But I know one that would be cool.... having all the Victorias Secret Angels turn out to be car modelers and asking you to help them with their, ahem, models!
