We WISH!

I don't blame ya! It would be for me too! And it has been a few times when I've done some welding on bike gas tanks! I'll have to do some calling around. I have a few gas companies around me! Thanks!

Look what my LHS guy gave me. The store promotional package for the 2012 Gearz contest. His shop has zero wall space available so he gave it to me. The top wide poster is about 2 1/2 feet wide.... No big deal I guess but cool nonetheless! I suppose I'll find a spot on the wall for it when I get to remodeling the shop! Hosted on Fotki

I use the medium viscosity superglue as a filler all the time. But I don't put anything in it. However, I do use an instant setter called Zip Kicker. This makes the superglue set up almost instantaneously. And Dan is right about superglue becoming harder than the styrene...it will...but not for about an hour or so. Which means that you should do your sanding right away so that it doesn't have time to become harder then the surrounding plastic. What I do is...fill with Zap-A-Gap superglue in the green bottles...hit it with a spray of Zip Kicker...blow on it to evaporate the Zip Kicker...then wait 20 seconds or so...then start the sanding. It's the fastest way I've ever seen to fill things like you're asking about. Airplane modelers have been filling seams with this method for 20 years or more. I know because i was filling the seams on my aircraft models with this method back in the early 90's after some of my fellow modelers showed me the method!

Douse it in good old EasyOff oven cleaner. The original stuff not the new odorless variety. It stinks but it'll take that stuff off.

What did you use for the basic tube? Is it a large propane tank? I just might do something like this come summer. I have the garage shop with all the tools necessary...

I ordered a bunch. I have no problem waiting..I'm just hoping she still has the ones I ordered left in stock!

model kits in unexpected places
Terry Sumner replied to milkman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Every now and then I'll find something at a local flea market we have here in town, but not very often! -
Now THAT...is awesome!!! I've been thinking and wishing about building one like that for a long time.....

A few hours but for absolute dry...24 hours. But they come out crystal clear! I glue in my windshields and other clear parts with Future also. And it makes a great medium for laying down decals. No air underneath so no silvering. I just don't care for it as a topcoat.

"Glue" in clear lenses with Future and it will be nice and clear!

All I can say is "WOW"!
Terry Sumner replied to jayhkr's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well I advise srongly against using Future as a top coat. It was never meant for what you want to do with it... however it's yours and of course you should do whatever you want with it. But to answer your question, the best thing to clean out Future with is ammonia. -
Hey Wayne...I got one of them copper pics of me too... Hosted on Fotki

I guess I'm a purist because to me...these so called "Nostalgia" gassers are about as far removed from being a Gasser as you can get. They aren't gassers at all...they're funny cars! They have glass flip top bodies, they run full tube chassis, they have no street equipment at all, no lights and they could not possibly be run on the street. The original premise of the gas classes was that the cars had to run all street legal equipment and be legal to run on the street. These things you've brought up are purpose built drag cars and IMO are Pro Mods...in spite of what moniker NHRA chooses to place on them for the purposes of crowd pleasing! Now...lest ye be put off by my thoughts here...I didn't say I did not like them. On the contrary... they are awesome race cars. But lets call a spade a spade and get real here...they are not gassers! And they ESPECIALLY are not nostalgic!

SEMA 2011 INSPIRATION
Terry Sumner replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's one of the items on my bucket list...to make it to the SEMA show.... -
Geez...I'll bet the guy paying the bill for the lettering job was pretty angry when he first saw that spelling error!

Hope you weren't referring to MY hair as gray!!! I'll have you know my hair is light black!

Okay...that's the kind of blame I will gladly take!

We had a bunch of those cars in the Conn State Police back then. We used them for highway hazardous moving violation enforcement. Unmarked they were so much fun to patrol with. I could drive along with traffic and some idiot would blow my doors off and I could just step on the gas and catch up to whatever passed me in no time. Once that turbo kicked in it was GO TIME! And the offender never even knew he'd passed a Trooper! Unfair? Nahhh...after all...who's going to pull that stuff when there's a fully marked cruiser there?

What everyone else already said! Well done!

I know. I can't figure out why that happens occasionally to my replies. I've been having trouble lately in the reply box. Sometimes when I start to type a message the font will change to that tiny one. And sometimes the Strike Through thing will be on...or the Italic thing or the Bold thing. I have no clue as to why this happens as I'm definitely not clicking on those items. And if I forget to change the lines back before I hit enter...well... Weird...

What's the story behind your user name/avatar?
Terry Sumner replied to JollySipper's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Screen name is...well...self explanatory I guess. Avatar? Now that's not so self explanatory. If anyone here was a member of the modelcarlist some years ago, you may recall we were having a discussion about trying to eliminate static electricity while painting. It went on and on with all kinds of suggestions and even went into methods of "ionizing" the air. Some guys mentioned something about grounding yourself to help get rid of the static electricity and somehow the idea came into my mind about wearing some type of helmet with wires attached for grounding. As I was making some pasta for dinner I suddently thought that the colander would make a great helmet! So I attached a few wires to the colander and a strap, etc. and put the thing on. I set up the camera on a tripod and took a self timed picture. Then I was dumb enough to post said photograph on the Modelcarlist as my version of an Anti-Static Electricity Painting Helmet! And now, years later, every now and then one of my "Buddies" will repost it! It seems that picture just won't go away..... So I gave up and now use it as an avatar sometimes. Hey...ya gotta make fun of yourself sometimes!
