  1. Just wondering where everybody is in this 24 hour build?????
  2. Okay..it's about 1:30 and here's where I'm at so far. This is the body painted in Testors Aluminum Buffing Metalizer. It's the base coat for the Kandy paint. I used this because it dries super fast and you just buff it with a soft flannel cloth and it's ready for the kandy paint in literally minutes! Hosted on Fotki While the aluminum was drying I cut out the woodgrain decal sheet and applied it to the side panels.... Hosted on Fotki Also got the basic engine together. I'm using Zap-A-Gap green superglue with Zip Kicker for everything on this build... Hosted on Fotki And here's the body with 2 coats so far of HOK Kandy Scarlett. This stuff dries quickly too...especially in the dehydrator! Hosted on Fotki Come on you guys...where are the rest of you????
  3. Almost time for the 24 hour build to start! I'm going to try to participate but I may have to take a break tonite to go out with my wife...that is..if she's feeling alright to go. Otherwise..I'll stay home and keep on truckin! I have chosen a kit that I built as a young teenager in the 60's...The Surf Woody! Here are all the parts laid out...waiting for noon to arrive! Hosted on Fotki And here's the Boxart. This kit can be built 3 ways...this is the way I want to build it...just like the Boxart. Hosted on Fotki A half hour to start time! This should be fun!
  4. I don't think I'm going to be able to participate...I have a previous committment to go out tomorrow night with my wife and some friends. But if my wife decides she doesn't feel well enough to go out, then maybe I can hop in there. I know I would love to see if I really can build one model in 24 hours!
  5. Wait'll you see my stuff....then you'll KNOW you'll have no problem!
  6. Yes. About halfway down on the next page. Or just click here... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=51698
  7. Jim...what base color was the Wild Cherry applied over? Silver? Gold? Something else?
  8. I am going to go and bleach my eyes now. What has been seen cannot be unseen!!!!
  9. Cool...a girder front end. Those are extremely rare on choppers today. Back in 1972 I built a 1:1 chopper out of a 1967 Triumph Tiger 650. Made a whole new extended and raked out neck for it and mounted an 18" over girder front end from California Cycle Works. Man that bike was cool! 9' 6" long!
  10. For some real good help go here.... http://www.straightlinemodeler.org/res.htm Click on the headers........ Unraveling the Snake Pit and Dragsters.
  11. Yup...I'm sure liking this one too!
  12. Driveshaft loop must be located within 6" of the front universal joint. Left page under Drive Lines...just after the bold faced paragraph. This is from the 1970 NHRA Rulebook. Hosted on Fotki
  13. Yeah I agree... But Darth Vader never said "Flippin Awesome." So I had to go with "Impressive."
  14. One of my friends posted a quote the other day.... "Being popular on Facebook is like sitting at the "cool" table at a mental institute!"
  15. 3 Days... Really? In the words of Darth Vader..... Impressive!
  16. Oh C'mon Ian..or Phil...which is it? Don't you see the humorous irony in your spelling errors? "produces" and "beets"?
  17. They sell vegetables?
  18. Same thing with me. Back in the 60's!
  19. I don't think so George. Patriots vs Giants in Superbowl with the Pats exacting revenge for the loss a couple of years ago! Yep..you heard it here first!
  20. I've drilled into every can of spray paint that I've decanted over many years...no problem. That said however...I always drill into the can on it's bottom after all the aerosol is out AND I'm holding the can's nozzle ON and upside down.....
  21. Danno...they say the memory is the first thing to go...maybe hence the double post!
  22. Try some REGULAR Easyoff oven cleaner. Not that new weak stuff with the nice smell...doesn't work. Never had a model yet that it couldn't strip! Just make sure you vent the fumes!
