  1. Wow, I missed that coil completely! Thank you, I'll get that fixed right away. The panel lines, I didn't darken them, but yeah, I think you're right, they do need to be defined a little better. I'll definitely try using a scriber on the next one. Thank you!
  2. It's molded on the body on this kit
  3. Thanks everyone!
  4. Thank you, everyone!
  5. Thank you all!
  6. Beautiful!!! Detail painting on the wheels is superb!
  7. Thank you, but I can't credit for that. The Fireball Modelworks wheels are 3 separate pieces, and the wheels have holes molded in. Painting these are so easy even a caveman could do it lol.
  8. Thank you all!
  9. Monogram 1970 Road Runner. Like on my Superbird I posted earlier, I tried to fix the engine bay by removing the radiator overflow tank and that goofy hump behind the windshield washer tank. Also added the requisite purple horn that a Road Runner MUST have, lol. I used the bucket seat interior from the Superbird kit. Wheels and tires are from Fireball Modelworks, decals are from Speedway Decals. Thanks for looking!
  10. Well, it should've posted in Under Glass.....Can't find where to change it, so moderator, please move it. Thank you.
  11. The Monogram/Revell 1970 Superbird is one of my favorite kits to build. I've built about 4 of them before this one, and I try to improve each one by learning little nuances each time, both with the kit, and the real cars. It's still not perfect by a long shot, but this is my best one so far. One of the things that has always bothered me about this kit is that passenger side fenderwell in the engine bay, so I tried to fix this one. The kit has 2 tanks there, a windshield washer tank and I'm guessing a radiator overflow tank. Then, to the rear of the washer tank is a weird looking hump of some sort. The only thing that's SUPPOSED to be there is the windshield washer tank....from all references I can find, a radiator overflow tank wasn't offered until '71, possibly '72, so that had to go. I also added something they didn't include with the kit that every '70 Superbird/Road Runner MUST have.....the trademark purple "meep meep" horn. I swapped in the standard bench seat interior from the Road Runner kit. The tires and wheels are from Fireball Modelworks. I sorta overdid the paint overspray on the chassis because I was trying to do this with spray cans.....lesson learned. Thanks for looking!
  12. Thanks, y'all! I appeciate it!
  13. I'm always confused about where to put my race cars at. I build short track cars. They're not Nascar, even though some look like it, so if this is the wrong place, I apologize. The Snowball Derby, held every year in Pensacola Florida, is the most prestigious asphalt short track race in the nation. Kyle Busch has won it twice. This is his 2017 winner. It's a resin SLM body from Big Donkey on a modified AMT Nascar chassis. I build most of my race cars curbside, so there is no engine detail. Paint is plain ol' Tamiya TS-14 and decals are from Speedway Decals.
  14. Beautiful! Yes, I just love those old Monogram kits. Good call on the wheels, those look perfect on there.
  15. This is one of my favorite kits of all time, I've built several. Looking good so far. One thing, if you don't mind......it looks like you may be foiling the side marker lights. Thats correct for the front, but the rear ones didn't have chrome bezels. Sounds goofy, I know, but they used Dodge Coronet front fenders for these things, hence the difference. Everything else is looking spot on!
  16. Hi, y'all. I haven't been on here in forever. So long, in fact, that I had to go through the "reset password" process, I couldn't remember. I've still been building, and still active in the hobby, but I've just been so busy the last few years that modeling, and forums in particular, have just taken a back seat. Hopefully, I can start posting again, and maybe y'all can help me improve my skills. I see some familiar names here, and lots of new ones, so it's almost like starting over. :)
  17. Good idea, so I went there and looked. Unfortunately, They're not quite the right shape and they appear to be molded to the bumper and much too close together......so I guess it's back to the drawing board for me.....Thank you for the suggestion, it's the best so far. I've never even see a diecast that had bumper guards.
  18. Thank you, I use Alps printers, which can print metallic and foils.
  19. Thanks again, everyone. I appreciate the kind words.
  20. Thank you, I had that kit in the stash so I checked it out. I don't know.....they're close, but no cigar. I think the rears are closer than the front, but like you say, modification is definitely necessary. I'm not sure if I have enough skill to pull that off, but I may give it a shot. Thank you!
  21. While I don't have that particular kit, I strongly suspect its the same kit they've been reissuing for years, and it doesn't have bumper guards at all. They even issued it once with a sedan as the box art.....hardtop inside. Still, it's worth checking out though. Thank you!
  22. Hi everyone. This is Josh Owens' (of the TV show "Moonshiners) '53 Chevy Gasser, that runs in Quain Stott's Southeast Gassers events. Built from the Revell kit, its basically box stock cleaned up a bit. Added those ugly wheelie bars, Wheels are from Replicas and Miniatures of MD, decals are my own. Sort of a pain of a kit, but it was a fun build.
  23. Greetings all. One of my favorite modeling subjects are models of cars I used to own. I've built several over the years, even the race car I used to have, but the one I've never built is the first car I ever had....a 1957 Chevrolet 2 dr. hardtop. Why, you ask? Because I can't find a kit that has the optional bumper guards. This was a big deal to me on my car back in '71....I scoured junkyards all over North Georgia to find a useable set, both front and rear, and I just can't build a model of this car without them. Is there a kit anywhere that has these, or something close?
  24. Thanks again, y'all! Chris, classes were and still are kinda weird, pretty much track specific. I raced primarily at the Athens (Georgia) Speedway, but did race every now and then at Winder and Hartwell. At Athens Speedway, I was in the "A" Cadet division. (They had Rookie, "B" cadet, "A" Cadet, "B" class Sportsman, and "A" Class Sportsman). When I went to Winder, it was simply the Cadet division, and at Hartwell it was called the Hobby class. Dixie Speedway in Woodstock had "A" Hobby and "B" Hobby. You could call yours anything like that and be ok I think.
