  1. Beautiful GTO!
  2. Beautiful build of my favorite year Corvette! It's hard to beat the color too, white and tan just looks right. The next time someone says MPC kits are junk, show them this!
  3. 36 AWG is pretty small. I found this, maybe this will help. https://www.ebay.com/itm/165383729590?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=mUy7eoltTPe&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=N9oWb27QTN6&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  4. Update on this topic, in case anyone else is interested. The Revell '58 Corvette has an air cleaner that is almost exactly like the Pontiac pancake Air cleaner, the only difference is it has 3 wing nut indentions instead of one.....easily fixed. Lee (Classicgas) was kind enough to send me one. So if anyone wants to build a non-ram air '67 GTO, there you go.
  5. Thank you! I guess it could be from a '53, but I don't remember having that kit. There's another bumper to match it, but it doesn't have the notch for the license plate, I'm assuming that one is a front bumper for whatever kit it's from. The pinstripes are decals.
  6. Thanks again, y'all!!!
  7. That's exactly how I built mine about 20 years ago. The Otaki body has some weird proportion issues, so I just cut the nose and tail off and grafted them to the Monogram body. Because they were simple kits designed to be motorized, they were pretty cheap back then.....A quick glance at eBay shows that might not be true today. Oh well...
  8. Thank you, sir. The hood sides are simply Evergreen styrene and BMF, with a decal for the emblem. The taillights are also decals.
  9. Thank you, everybody, I appreciate the kind words!
  10. Thank you sir. The best I remember I didn't do anything special, I just painted the wheels the way I would a body (primer, wet sand as best as I could, paint) using an airbrush and several light coats until it was nice and glossy black The black basecoat has to be pretty good....just like BMF, any imperfections will show in the chrome. I applied the Alclad chrome the way they suggest, using very low pressure and several very light coats.
  11. I actually built this model 7 years ago....and HATED it. The top didn't fit well, I couldn't get it low enough, and the paint I used (Testors black lacquer) was a disaster. One thing my dad taught me was if you get frustrated with something, don't get mad....just put it away and come back to it later, and usually it'll all fall into place then. So I just put it back in the box and stuck it back in the stash. Recently, I was looking for something and ran across it. I decided that I wasn't going to let a simple toy car whip me, so I got it back out, disassembled it, stripped it, and started again at ground zero, and just like my dad taught me, things fell into place this time. This was loosely based on Kirk Hammett's Cole Foster built '36 Ford. It's 99% kit parts, including the Pontiac engine with a M.A.D. distributor added. I don't really like those bug-eyed '36 Ford headlight lenses, so I replaced those with something more modern. I don't know what the rear bumper is, I found it in the parts box and it just seemed to fit. Paint is plain ol' Tamiya black with ivory interior and green pinstripes. I know it's a long way from perfect, but after 7 years, I'm finally pleased with it and can call it finished! Thanks for looking.
  12. Very creative and well done!
  13. Very nice indeed! Those air cleaners like that were all the rage back in the 70s, everybody around here had one, lol.
  14. Very nice! Love them Pontiacs!
  15. Very nice, and a great idea! John Schneider would approve!
  16. These race car wheels were done with Alclad chrome over Testors enamel black, it's the closest thing I've found to polished aluminum yet......short of using actual polished aluminum wheels.
  17. Awesome job! I like it!
  18. That is absolutely beautiful, sir! Very nice, and a perfect color for that.
  19. Excellent! The stance is perfect, not all jacked up (incorrectly) too high like a lot of builders do. The paint is perfect! This is my idea of a true gasser.
  20. I'm glad to see this kit back, but I DO wish they'd fix the engine compartment.....there's no wiper motor, the radiator overflow tank was still a year or two away, and let's be honest, it's not REALLY a Road Runner without the purple beep beep horn, is it? The last one I built, I fixed all that. It wasn't difficult, but still...........:/
  21. Great idea, as a Pontiac fan I approve! I've often thought about doing something similar except go the pro-street route.....maybe when I run out of other projects lol. Looking forward to more on this.
  22. Yes sir, that is 100% factory stock for a non-ram air '67 GTO. Thank you, sir. I went and dug out a '55 Corvette kit.....and while it DOES have the same basic design (without louvers), it's only about half the diameter.
  23. Was an air cleaner like this (or something similar) ever offered in either kit form or aftermarket? Thanks!
  24. It’s in all the MPC GTO kits…..67, 70, and 72.
