  1. The sad part of this is that there are people in our country that actually believe that having the government involved is a good idea. Now, approaching "senior" status, and having been around fer awhile, I have seen many things taken on by government and run into the ground. The city I live in, with its infinite wisdom, has built a water park for XX million dollars, opening this month. If they make $10 a head, not counting what it costs to run it, it will take 14 years to pay it off. I cant imagine how much $$ it will lose taking these things into account. I am truly concerned that the guvvamint will decide that GM is now part of a "single-payer" type auto industry and the only cars we will be allowed to buy are those hybrid mini-*#$@'s they are supposed to build. I saw a Nissan ad the other day, touting the government subsidy thing....$4500. So now the administration wants to pay us to buy foreign cars? Its as though we the taxpayers are forking out lots of $$ to cripple the free America we live in. A couple of years ago I laughed at that chinese garbage they were calling cars. I am wondering how long it will be before one of those pieces is outselling a US manufacturer.
  2. And theres the Yellow jacket, 1930 Ford drag roadster/jalopy!
  3. I'd bet 'ol Jimmy would show that creep why he's called "Mister Excitement"!
  4. So, they ARE smoking crack after all.................
  5. Yee-hah that was a good finish. I tuned in at the last 20 laps or so figuring to see the typical stuff that has become nascar. When whiny took the lead I almost turned off the TV. I've liked Smoke for years because he is a true racer, not just a driver. I was jumping out of my seat watching him hold his line against whiny, and see whiny go into the fence. headache-schemdache, wonder iffin that 'ol concussion will remedy intolerable arrogance?
  6. That is great job! You really captured "the look". I love it, and the colors fit it perfectly.
  7. Now, that's one bad lookin' racecar! You sure know how to nail the "look"!!
  8. I have 3 of them, 2 orginal unbuilt, and 1 new release. The overall shape of the body is very nice, however the front turn signals are moilded into the fenders and the fron splash apron has two humps to facilitate the snap instalation of the bumper. The drip rail is poorly defined, and on mine part of it was missing along with some of the rear window trim. The chrome trim just under the windows is almost non-existent. I did not like the chassis at all, and the ride height was way too high. The interior is a blob of plastic, and the dash, which is a '49 and not a '50, is poorly defined. That being said, mine is in perpetual mock-up correcting these flaws. It looks like it will be pretty nice when done, I just wasnt expecting all of these flaws. Your build is absolutely excellnt, Russell. Being in the middle of mine, I am amazed at how well yours turned out. Great job!
  9. And to think there are actually some people in the great country of ours that believe the guvvamint know best. Many people who know cars understand that Americans dont want the cars that Obama wants us to buy. General Motors, now Guvvamint motors, heck, just say it like it is.......socialism! Seems like (unfortunately) Ford still has "the better idea". Wonder how long before the administration declares Ford un-American for not bailing out and letting the Gov't run it. Perhaps it will become part of the next legislation. Grrrr!
  10. Im in complete agreement. The powers that be have no grasp on reality. F1 is being fed pablum. Must be following the tradition of nascar. Competiton? heck no! We need to even the playing field. Those that have need to share with those that dont. Yea, right....... And those bratty drivers-do you think there are true motorsports fans who root for them? Robby Gordon has an "attitude", while Kyle Busch is just a littlle snot. Just my opinon.
  11. Ooooooo that's nice! Sure dont make 'em like they used to. You've got a lot of style in your builds.
  12. I'm pleased to hear your response ( excuse? ) for not following your part of our deal. It took a lot of patience on my part not to tell all on this forum about my experince. I am optimistlcally looking forwrd to recieveng the things you promised me. And I must say I couldnt imagine why you wouldnt email me. I hope that by admitting this on our forum, it will help you to do the right thing.
  13. I think I paid, like 69 cents for it when Aurora issued it way back when. It was very lousy kit at the time, with a poor fitting multi-piece body and plastic wheels, so today it might be viewed as horrrible. And $28.99? Maybe for a case of 12.......

  19. That is just so cool! Too bad us civilians cant get one. Perhaps that could fix the ailing auto industry
  20. Great work! Not your best, eh? well, Ilike it. Don't think enough credit has been given to Swede Savage. He was just becoming a force to be reckoned with when he had that terrible Indy wreck. Might have been series champion. Ck out www.swedesavage.com.
  21. Ive found that I have that kind of drive with my hobbies. I ended up being pretty good at slot cars, on the commercial tracks, and got to the point where Mura was giving me his motors for free because of my win record. ( And yes, Dave, I used your bodies! ) Ive always tried to improve in my model building-making each one a bit better than the last. I have perfectionist tendencies in my home and garden, and most things I do. Sometimes it isnt to my benefit, however. I'm learning that good enough is good enough. For me I think the difference lies in knowing what I am capable of and striving for that, rather than accepting lousy work. ###### is ###### no matter what the subject.
  22. So, how much salary is the mag paying you?
  23. Google Foose Roadster and you'll see the other side of it. Wide whites on wires.
