  1. Looks great so far, Dave! Glad to see your doing better.
  2. I got some more done on the Tee. Metalizer magnesium, buffed, valve stems on the wheels, and sanded the slicks. I finished the headers in Aluminum Plate metalizer, shaded with Tamiya Bronze. And here's an overall shot with a scoop from Reliable Resin. I've got an Enderle scoop and injector coming from Ed Fluck at Drag City Castings, and might use that one instead.
  3. I really love that pickup. Your weathering looks great!! I bid on the 40 when you had it on ebay, but lost. I love that one, too.
  4. Not one model at mine. Language challenged personnell didnt know what a model car was. Nothing but the usual thrift store knockoff electronics, housewares, and gobs of clothing and cheap toys. GRRRRRR!
  5. Great decal work. And that is a pretty unique way of getting the winshield to fit the chopped top.
  6. Good lord, that takes a whole lotta balls. I could envison those little wire chin guards getting intertwined with his teeth upon crashing.
  7. Sniff it, and if it doesnt smell like paint you should be good. I second using tamiya tape. That blue stuff, as well as regular masking tape, seems to react to the solvents in newly sprayed Tamiya paint. Despite waiting a month, when I sprayed Tamiya over blue tape it seemed to melt itself into the underlying paint.
  8. Hey, thanks, Im going right by one today!
  9. Great job! The Blue Beetle is my all time favorite kit.
  10. Thats absolutely fantastic! The Litle Deuce is one of my all time favorites, and its great to see it done up so well.
  11. I believe this is made out of the type of plastic that you can straighten in hot water. The promos were made of acetate. If it doesnt work, whatcha go to lose? I remember my first Palmer. The box art hooked me in, and then I got it home an opened it up. The multi piece body ticked me off, and the I saw that "chassis". I NEVER bought a Palmer again.
  12. That turned out great. Really like the wheels!
  13. Great job, I like it! It looks good in that color. So, those are the headers off of the Son of Ford?
  14. Great idea, I cant wait to see what you do with the nose art. When its done, ya wanna race?
  15. Thanks for the positive comments! That is the original plastic color, I didnt paint it, I just polished it. I think its more suited to something from the 50's but I guess it fits in with the surf theme. The surfboard that is a close match is painted with Rustoleum Painters Touch "Jade".
  16. Got the rear wheels painted in magnesium metallizer, slicks sanded, and valve stem ready. Headers painted too. Im having trouble with the front wheels...the AMT Double Dragster moulds are obviously showing signs of wear. I spent a lot of time fist narrowing the wheels to better fit the tires I had chosen, then sanding the face of the rims smooth and making sure they were concentric. Looked OK after primer, but when I sprayed on the metalizer, they looked awful. They are in the stripper, and I'll give it another shot.I may have to add some putty to get rid of the sink marks.
  17. Yea John, that would be great! However, on reconsideration, I think your traditional '40 Ford coupe with scallops would be my choice........no, no, not the bare kit, your built model!
  18. I am sorta hesitant to post this as I dont really like it. Anyway, here it is. This isnt really my style as I usually build traditional rods-n-customs. Just the AMT Peanuts kit with the graphics removed and Cady decals applied. Out of the box, the front end sat way higher than the back, so I lowered it a significant amount. In retrospect I wish I had raised the rear a couple of scale inches. The wheels are Monogram early iron, stripped and sprayed with magnesium metalizer. Lug detail and letters done by hand. The taillights were foiled and painted in clear red, the license plate is from the scrap box with a detail master frame, and I drilled out the tips of the tail pipes. I scratch built the rack out of evergreen and used some thread I got from an uphlosterer when he made a tonneau cover for my El Camino. The top, windows, and bed cover were molded in one piece, and looked pretty bad. I sprayed the top and bed cover in some old Tamiya I had left over, and futured the windows. That was a pain in the neck. This was really a case of the sum of the parts being greater than the whole. After it was finished I just found it lacking. I love the wheels and tires, and the surfboards and rack, but the rest.....I dunno, maybe more decals? Anyway, so far my only completion for 2010. Thanks for looking.
  19. That interior is lookin real good! Like your wheels and tires too.
  20. WOW thats great!
  21. I've got a soft spot for the old 32's also! That Tee is mostly from the AMT release awhile back with the rod and stock versions on the boxtop. The chassis is all stock except for the draglink which I'm scratching. The front tires are from ebay while all the wheels and the slicks are off the re release of the double dragster. The body is from the Tee, chennelled in back, and I just eyeballed the placement of the pickup box to where it looked good. I made the floor frm plastic for sale signs and the rollbar is straight out of the parts pack. The engine was more work...Im lousy at engine mounts, so I used a Ford block from AMT's 32 vicky, shaved off the front cover and fuel pump, added chavy heads and headers from the parts pack, and called it a chevy! I scratchbuilt the magneto and used detail master ign. wire. I driled holes in the wheels today for valve stems, and will airbrush a couple coats of magnesium metalizer the afternoon. Everything else will be "old school" Thanks for looking!
  22. I've been working on these two as of late. The Tee is in its 3rd incarnation, once wearing cragars, a tunnel ram, and aqua paint, and also an attempt at vintge box art. The 32 is ready for final assembly, but that is not my strong point so I'm procrastinating. I might just have to suck it up and finish the thing before the end of the year.
  23. The artist Jeff Allison drew that Model A. Yea, imagine if there was a sedan body included with all those parts. Why cant the model companies do this? ( yea I know..$$$$ )I remember when there were 3, 4 and even 6-in-1 kits!
  24. The red hood with the scoop looks to be off an MPC Jeep, the black soft top is indeed off a Jeepster, and the green parts are off the original release of Monograms 39 Chev delivery.
