New Automotive Styling Trend?
Draggon replied to Modelmartin's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nah, couldnt be asian, it doesnt have that ridiculously stupid "grin" they all have.......it looks like its all puckered up. French, maybe? -
The tires from AMT's Boyd-mobiles such at the 32 ford, will just about fit the old AMT semi-truck rims. They arent a perfect fit, but real close. And I bet that a lot of people have them sitting in their stash!

This popped up on ebay. Not clear how decent it is, but it might be a place to start! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330413174287&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT -
Where ya goin' Hot foot?
Draggon replied to RJWood's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I got to a huge 98 in my 71 Bug many years ago. Kinda like pushing a brick thru a garden hose. It had a spoiler on the front, and a little wing thingy called a "herrod's helper" on the back. It was real scary from about 75 to 85. From 85 on up the spoilers really began to work and the faster I went the more stable it felt. It was sucked down so much that the front suspension hit the snubbers. I did about 115 in a 79 ElCamino with a 350 4bl. The stock suspension made that not much fun at all. I also had a 5.0 mustang that did a very easy 90mph most of the way down I5 to Los Angeles and got 26mpg while at it. -
Your work is just spectacular! The slot cars youve been posting are better than many static models I've seen. Great job! Do you ever put these on the track?

Here's two of mine, both AMT's. The primer one has been done for a year or so. I do not like the huge whitewalls on the tires, but that was the best I could do at the time. I plan on fixing that li'l problem once I get up the courage to try to get the front wheels free. The green one is stalled out. I blew the paint polishing it, stripped it and decided to put the top of the hood on with the grille shell. Its sitting in primer now.

That reciept is sure interesting. I bought a model or two there many many moons ago. Terrace Market is still there, but no models. I had one of these but never finished it.If it turns out half as nice as that Bugati it will suer be something!

Woody kits - Recessed wood grain?
Draggon replied to RCS Motorsport's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
AMT's 29 Woody/pickup has separate one-piece panels for the recessed part. While these do have graining on them it would be quite simple to sand it off, or create new panels from sheet styrene. -
Did anyone catch tonight's Mythbusters? Adam and Jamie took a plain old Taurus, got 26.4 mpg out of it, then by createing a bunch of golfball type divits in it they raised the mpg to 29! It was a bit more involved than that, but holy cow. If it really is true, I could imagine the buzz out there with the salt flats racers. This was just amazing.

The panel gaps and the headlights look to good to be a model. However, if its done in 1/8, that might be possible...........Somehow, I just dont like the shine on those tires, and the vavle stems look awfully large. Im gonna havta go with model on this one!

Government Motors is born!
Draggon replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Sounds like youve been watching Glenn Beck. I agree that there are parallels. He had direct influence in the auto industry, and didnt the Nazi regieme decide to help Mercedes win the Formula 1 championship? At least 'Bamma hasnt gotten involved in NASCAR yet.......hmmm, wasnt Bernie praising Hitler recently? Maybe the administration could pronounce Bernie as our "Morosports Czar". But we'd probably have to give him citizenship first. -
Government Motors is born!
Draggon replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Absolutely! I am generous and giving to my friends and family. I paid off my daugters school loan, I am paying for my son's community college, I paid a freinds IRS bill and paid off her house ( OK, it was only $3500 ) because I could, and WANTED TO! It was my choice. I love my country and the freedoms it affords me. Imagine if the administration decided we could only buy and build, say, Palmer models, because they used sooooooooooo little plastic that they were environmentaly friendly. Bet that would tee-offf a bunch of people. Hey the guvvamint could even start a program to buy back all of our old globally damaging vintage Monogram and AMT kits if we were to decide to only build Palmers! -
Government Motors is born!
Draggon replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If I was one of the "have-nots" in our country today, I think I might like the new philsophies of this administration. I mean, after all, I am an American, and I deserve it! However, I have worked continously since my first job at 14. I have worked long and hard to get what I have. No one handed me my life, I earned it, and know the true value of earning. I find it insulting that I am getting told what car I should drive on order to be a good American. And I despise that since I am one of the "haves" it is expected of me to be like Robin hood and give my stuff to the "have-nots" -
