Thats really great Drew. I love these old models, tho very simple, they come out looking so good right out of the box. Did you paint the black or polish the plastic? Ive got 2 of these in the pile, Ive got to get on to building one.

I dug that rail when ya first posted it B. I love it just as it is, floppy wheel and all. But for all you guys, isnt it hard to tear apart something so old to re-do it? I've got a few from the dark ages, that I know I can do better on, but cant bear to update, nor can I bear to reassemble with all the flaws.

Hey Drew, I saw your great Ford in SA awhile back. Loved both versions, but wasnt that an emotional choice, going from your lettering to decals? I've got a few hand lettered survivors, and really hesitate to update them to decals.

Fantastic Steve, anytime I hear the word "Ofixco" my heart starts to race. My favorite car and my favorite driver of all time. Watched "the shoe" run at Baylands, Hanford, and Antioch many times. I still have his decal on my roll-away. Great job on a great subject!

Well, Drew's got me beat by a year! I did this Dodge in '64 at the ripe old age of ten. It shows some scars from travelling for 48 years, but is completely untouched from how I first built it. I do have the fenderwell headers. They fell off years ago and I havent put them back on...yet... Oh, and please note the not-so-great hand lettering that I am still proud of!

Ive avoided this topic for fear of being too anal, but I gotta agree with a lot of whats been said. I'm a VW guy, having owned a 67 Bug, a 68, a 69, and a 71 Super, as well as doing a lot of work on a 58 big window, and a 72 round window. I have the Revell VW kits, and the body has kept me from building them for many years. I got the Aoshima 1303, and the body is so bad its stuffed in my reject pile. Im not sure about the Hasegawa, or the Tamiya versions,. The Revelle and Aoshima pigs prevent me from building a really nice model of a pig,

Suicide style was named that, because if the spring perch failed, the front axle would be rendered useless, and the frame would dig into the ground, and presto, up and over the top! The benefit to the suicide perch is that the one could easily dictate the ride height simply by the placement of the perch. If you look at the 40 Ford setup, the spring is in front of the axle. If the perch was to fail, there would still be the spring and the axle to keep the frame off the ground and have some bit of control. While not so safe, the suicide perch has a great following among the traditional rodders, perhaps somewhat due to the sorta fearsome nature of the beast.

As far as I know the contents are the same. All of the parts are interchangeable. I also like the 39 best, I try to get the fender and grille units whenever I can. I have about a dozen 40's and want to convert them all to 39.

I'd buy up examples all of the SMP, AMT Craftsman, Trophy series, and Styline kits, and reverse engineer all of them, then throw in all the Jo-han kits before 1970 for a nice topper! Maybe even add things like the AMT 28 Ford sedan that were only released once. Hmm, then that would lead to all the old Revell Parts packs, some Aurora and maybe event "Monte" stuff........

That was a lot of fun, thx. The Kookie Kar is among my favorite t's of all time.
