  1. What a difference a decade makes . I'll have to review my list and photo what I actually have now vs then . Affordable 3d printers and several releases from the model companies most of my list is doable .
  2. I had a hard time using the kind you wear , this one has a dimmable light . MagniPros 3X Magnifying Glass... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09FSR8HFT?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
  3. I always wanted to be a GSL attendee . It was incredible , inspiring and I felt everything I thought I would . I knew I would be there when they announced this would be the last one , the weeks leading up the show made me uncertain I'd make it but at the very last possible minute things clicked into place . Walking into the contest hall Thursday morning I could feel the buzz , my eyes welling up with the realization I didn't miss it , I was there . Recognizing literally every name on every name tag from the magazines and forums would have been a bit too much for this introvert except the first person that I talked to while waiting in line to register was this really nice guy that I share a first name with , he'd been there before , he would nod and wave if he saw me when he was on The move and just sit down and chat when he had some down time . I was very happy when he won best of show . I also had a conversation with Jim Keeler who has four very large chickens and is going to be working on a very large model of the Titanic , yes both of those are related . Seeing Mark Gustavson in his world was exactly as expected and revealing simultaneously . I met many national luminaries , saw so many exquisite models , being in the same place really makes you feel what it's all about . This is by far my best modeling experience. Thanks to everyone that was a part of it !
  4. I'll print one and send to you
  5. Thank you for asking . Not right now ,however , I just spent time at GSL so I'm pretty motivated and seeing that nordberg truck at the museum reminded me I didn't even realize it's been 2 years .
  6. I found the nordberg truck at the International model builders' museum
  7. until

I'm looking forward to being there
  8. I don't remember when this kit was last available and I wonder if it'll come back anytime soon .
  9. Aluminum cans are useful too .
  10. Consider removing the dust cap as well then you could just replace the whole center , I'd imagine a plain old hole punch would be pretty close to the size you'd need which you could add the lugs to before gluing the center back in .
  11. That dash looks much harder but doable .
  12. For this conversion I simply made straight cuts of equal size and swapped the glove box for the dash panel this was not a think piece as the dash was pretty symmetrical .
  13. Do you have a pic of the dash ?
  14. Jeff is good , he's not building much these days .
  15. Here's an excellent video that breaks it down
  16. I don't even know what to do with all of the trophys but they're fun to find . I can't remember which revell kit it was but there was one that had some very nice heather detail it was impressive for the time maybe the original attempt 1 kit or a Roth kit ...
  17. I just checked a couple of kits I thought came with a helmet or two and realized I don't remember or the newer releases I have on hand don't have them anymore . I think the AMT 1963 corvette has one . Finding those little extras in kits is one of the things I've always enjoyed I'd bet someone would just give you one if ya asked , but be specific the ones I have pictured look mostly the same but there's some subtle differences .
  18. I was going through my parts doing a little prep for future projects and came across a pocket of helmets . How many helmets do you have floating around ? Any favorites ?
  19. I think a light box is more about diffusing the light rather than aiming the light . I'd recommend trying different colored poster board as a backdrop set up like a skate ramp with diffused lights around it instead of a box . Here's a link to over 15 years worth of pic taking advice which includes light box construction .
  20. I found these in the ol parts bin they scale to about 14in but look like they were from a 1/32nd scale something . If you think they'll work I'd be happy to send them your way
  21. Thank you . I scratch built the rack out of brass .
  22. Those are the kit flares , all I've done to the body is paint it .
  23. When Amt released this kit I was pretty excited . I thought it was the original AMT rabbit as the box art was so close . I received this kit as a birthday gift when I actually saw the box and opened it up I was a little disappointed. Not because this kit is bad but rather it wasn't what I thought it was . Honestly the subaru brat , vw scirocco , Meyers Manx etc . The OG rabbit seemed a logical expectation . I wanted the amt kit to build a desert racer based on the hot wheels Hare Splitter . That's still the plan but this kit became the rough draft and a slump buster and a reason to try something new .
  24. When I was 4 or 5 ( mid 70s ) my dad worked at a group home that had a canteen that had some display models one was the revell 56 pickup with opening doors they used Terry cloth cut to shape for the interior . I know it doesn't help much but thanks for jogging the memory , it's weird what we remember.
  25. Thanks guys . I have access to a laser cutter , outside of those tool organizers I have complete writers block on what I could do with it . I figured something along the lines of basic open trailers or different fonts of signage letters . But those seem a little basic for the technology . I like the idea of putting the paper model technique onto plastic and that diner looks cool .
