  1. Thanks John , David thanks for the ideas ,I was going to try to get the radiator in the front by tilting it but if it won't fit it will go in the back . the back seat will be gone so finding room should not be a problem .I do plan on using the stock rims widened . more later thanks for looking .
  2. Thanks for the comments , I had a hard time with the shape of the rear window after looking at it , you guys are right and it will probably change eventually .
  3. This is a Gunze Sangyo 56 bug being bashed with a Revell 41 Willys . You know how different kits end up sitting around your bench and once in awhile it sparks an idea well that is what happened here . I noticed a lot of similar shapes between the two kits and thought why not . It's basically the VW body with the chassis interior engine from the Willys . the goal is trying to make it look like a stockish VW including the interior . The Hemi should fit under the hood leaving only the fat rear tires to give anything away . More photos later with a little more detail on what has been done . Thanks for looking , feel free to make suggestions or share your own similar build .
  4. I started this with the intent of building it out of box . After looking at the side view I just didn't like the rear window area so i cut it out moved it back filled it and used a vw bug windshield as a template for the new backlight . It is probably a little low but I'm ok with that. I also added a quad headlight clip on the front and smoothed out the peak on the hood . I filled the rear wheel openings and plan on radiusing both front and rear . still figuring what to do with the rear deck and tailights . Thanks for looking , feel free to make suggestions and criticize .
  5. Thanks Ron . Got it glued in ! The windshield frame/door jamb unit fit pretty good and really stiffened up the whole body it doesn't sag at all any more . Next up a little putty and lots of sanding . Thanks for looking .
  6. Ambitious first scatchbuild for sure . I think you'll have to use your best judgement on what looks good to you . the treads on the trike look more like snowmobile tracks to me . I do know that some companies ( Like AFV or Dragon and others ) do have just tank tracks with the wheels in pliable vinyl and hard plastic or resin . they usually run between $12 -$20 for 1/35 tanks . hope this helps . look forward to seeing what you come up with .
  7. burnish aluminum foil over the emblem , gently remove the foil , fill with epoxy or sprue glue (chunks of sprue melted in liquid glue) let dry remove from foil or trim the foil to keep the chrome effect . or caulking could make a quick mold also . there are lots of ways to go about it hopefully this points you in the right direction .
  8. Thanks Mike . Thanks for the tips , I'm excited to get this back on track . A little trimming and fingercrossing is next order of business .
  9. I started this in 2009 ,before the revell 57 fords came out . I worked through several problem areas and pushed my comfort level by opening the doors . I got stuck when the windshield frame broke right at the dogleg , then broke again on both sides . No epoxy , glue , acrylic filler could hold the frame together . It just got beyond my skills so work stopped . Now, years later, a solution has presented itself by cutting out the door jambs and windshield frame in one piece from the AMT 57 ford .it should give extra strength and it looks like it should just about drop right in .
  10. That's pretty cool. It makes me want to build one also
  11. Thanks for the clarification it's all starting to make sense now.
  12. Thanks guys for the quick responses,Soooooo in summation ,the argent silver only on the SE ? black only on T/A ? some RTs with black otherwise body color . I assume the base models would be body color? I did do the usual searches but I couldn't make the correlation between the colors/options because it seems that there is always an exception to the rule or just incorrect restos. I found several informative pages that covered almost everything I need.
  13. I've seen the tail panel (the area between the trunk lid and the tail light) on 70 challengers in body color ,Black(organisol?) and that silver color . Is there a rhyme or reason to it ? I cant tell if it has something to do with trim package ,stripe choice , color choice or just random choice of the buyer. Also if you have suggestions for the silver and black color in hobby paint because I don't have one in the driveway so it's hard to tell what they look like in the real world.
  14. That's the plot to the movie "WALL-E" . I don't want to ruin how the movie ends.
  15. I wonder if any of the older monogram or amt slot cars had a hard top I feel like I've seen one .
  16. Do you guys want good looks or crime fighting effectiveness ?
  17. Here's some that I have pics of a couple my kids built
  18. I think that's just here in the U.S.
  19. There's a guy that sells upgrades and plastic for these. You do have to use a certain kind of plastic . Sorry I don't have the specifics .
  20. I've always liked that about this forum ask a specific question and you get an answer almost immediately .This thread was more for suggestions other than the usual google ,forum options . I like that we have suggestions on how to better use google and links with other options . I guess I know there are more than a few foreign (to me ) companies that have great products (Aber is one that has some interesting and useful P.E. sets ) but are hard to find because I dont know where to look .
  21. There are a lot of great suggestions here ,thanks . I hope this is as helpful for others as it is to me.
  22. There are so many aftermarket options available to us . I keep a watch out for new and interesting P.E. sets and resin items ,however if I wasn't building or planning a build for some of these items it may not stay in the old memory banks . so how do you go about finding specific items for a build ? a google search doesn't even bring up stuff I know is out there ,the company sites are frequently out of date and the smaller upstart or newer companies are just unknown so how would I find those guys . I only know of some of this stuff because of this board like the corrected 69 mustang nose from a russian company that does mostly airplane stuff . there are too many forums to keep up on all of it so how can you hunt down stuff that you don't even know is out there .
  23. Groan. why didn't I think of that? Seriously I wouldn't have, but I'm glad you did and shared it.
