The colour looks dead-on correct (at least, as much as can be determined from a computer monitor). The 'GT-500' decal looks perfect.

That's going to be cool. The refinishing is looking good.

I know this is an old topic, but since it has bubbled to the top, I'll add some advice; Do not attempt to protect models by wrapping them in food wrap (Glad Wrap, Saran Wrap, etc). I once bought 14 built-ups all wrapped in food wrap to protect the paint. Removing the plastic wrap also peeled most of the paint off of the models.

You can use Clear enamel over most acrylics and vice versa, but I don't know if you necessarily should. I am not aware of any rule that specifically makes that statement. (I say most acrylics, as the acrylic nomenclature covers a wide variety of different paint formulations. In the case of acrylic paints created specifically for our hobby, you would be ok. As for the various craft acrylics, I have no idea) You can shoot acrylic clear over almost any paint that is well cured. Personally, I avoid enamel clear altogether as it has a tendency to yellow over time when applied over light colours. With so many good hobby-based acrylic & lacquer clears on the market, I see no reason to bother with enamel clears at all. However, do not use a lacquer clear over enamel paint.

Very impressive build. Excellent attention to detail and flawless construction. Quite simply, an all round lovely model. -
I love this build, Matt. You have captured feel of the 1:1 perfectly. Nice work and great attention to details. Very nice indeed. I am also amazed at just how good orange and brown look together.

It's coming along nicely, Hanjo. Well done on correcting the windscreen frame.

Wanting advice on properly cleaning up soaked kits
Bainford replied to ZTony8's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Pretty much any decent cleaner with ruin, or at least damage, chrome plating. If by 'nasty water' you are referring to a bio-hazard, I would use bleach diluted with water. Fill a large container with diluted bleach and let the parts soak for a while. Then rinse very well with warm water, and use a soft bristle scrub brush if necessary. Beware, though, that bleach will remove the chrome. -

Thanks for that. Are these glass beads? In your original post they looked like metal, but I'm thinking now they may not be. -
Hello Heather. I am very sorry for your loss. I can say with certainty, the model car community has lost as well. I only knew Roger from the forum, but I had a ton of respect for him, as a model builder and as a person. His passing is news to me, and I am very sad to hear it. Roger was an upstanding and very highly respected model builder. One of the best. His work was innovative, meticulous and impeccable, and he was always willing to help other builders and provide advice or answer questions. It was clear that he embodied these qualities in life as well. I wish I had the opportunity to have known him personally. My deepest condolences to you and your family. R.I.P Plowboy

There are some interesting looking bits there. What is the across-the-flats dimension of the smallest hex tube bits? -
Nice work on the Double Dragsters. Good clean work. I really like the plug wire boots on the Hemi.

I have always been curious about this kit. You've done a nice job of getting it together. Well done.

One of my all-time favourite kits. That's one mean looking gasser, ready to tear up the strip. Nice work.

Cool old coupe. I dig the raft of carburetors. Nicely done.

Nice roadster, Mr Tripple R. You nailed the awesome period vibe. All round very cool roadster. Very well done.

Cool Plymouth, Mario. It looks a bit evil in gray. The engine is nicely done, too. You're right, those carbs really make a big difference.

Beautiful Dino, Justin. Love the colours. Very nice work.
