Go for it! That is the standard negative information spread about IPMS. You never hear about all of the positives things they bring to the table. There are good people and good shows, make N takes for new modelers. I've been around alot of guys who are in IPMS and it is a good organization. I am a member myself. It will be a learning experience for you. No matter what type of model members build we can learn new techniques from one another! Just remember to have fun with it and it will be just fine. I'm a MAMA member and we have been in IPMS for a long time!

You are so right about that Jeff!! I guess I'm pretty lucky, my entire family builds models! I try to get kids involved in the hobby all the time. I started a club at our church in 1993 Our Model Is Christ Model Club. It purpose is bring model building to future generations. It also provides spiritual guidance, but building models and having fun is a priority! I can tell you that boys and girls who are now adults still remeber those club meetings and the impact it had on their lives. I love the fact that I can use my love of this great hobby to glorify my God! My family loves building models and my daughters each have 1st place trophies from model shows we have attended! That is so cool as a father to see my children having fun enjoying the same hobby that I do! My girls buy models and now my wife has joined in on the action! Here are a couple photos. My youngest daughter working so hard on her VW Beetle! Hosted on Fotki My oldest daughter working on her Monte Carlo. Hosted on Fotki My wife building a Mazda Miata. Hosted on Fotki Here I am with my youngest applying some decals. Hosted on Fotki We had a OMIC club meeting today and we two new members. A father and son building their first model together. A monster truck. Guys, be a mentor and share this wonderful hobby with a child! -
Very cool so far!!

Looking Good!!

I wasn't going to do this at first but I decided to cover behind the rear seat adding speakers and amps. Half of the tonneau cover from the AMT Dodge D-50 p/u was used along with amps from Lex's Scale Modeling. It will cover where I cut the interior to get the rear wheels under for that "in the weeds" look. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki A few more details and this one will be finished!

Not much action on eModelcars.com
Wheels replied to Wheels's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thank you, Dude, It's been working for the last three weeks. I guess if there are those who think the site's down. That would explain the lack of traffic. Maybe the word will get out. -
Not much action on eModelcars.com
Wheels posted a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I had these two models posted on eModelcars for the last two weeks with little or no activity. I guess there isn't much attention payed to this auction site. I have more models to sell and these first two were to test the waters. I guess i'll have to post the others on eBay. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki -
What's your preference?
Wheels replied to cotto's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I love to build for the fun of it. I have never set out to build a model for the specific purpose of getting in a magazine or to win a trophy. I won a couple trophies in the past couple of years and that was pretty cool. I have had a four models deemed good enough to be published in Car Modeler and Scale Auto. (My family was even more excited than me when it happened! LOL!) While never a goal, having either happen is pretty cool. Besides, it can be a gauge for the builder to see how their skills have continued to grow! Magazine over the trophy in my humble opinion.
