  1. An excellent set of rudge wheels and luggage was created by user "kbx" on automotiveforums.com's forum. See link below. I bought two sets and they are awesome. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=1142044&highlight=300sl
  2. Revell has certainly been silent on this and the AMG GT! Aren't these kits supposed to be released in November and December?
  3. Yeah, I think it turned out really well!
  4. You did a very nice job and I'm be referring to your WIP when I get back to working on mine!
  5. Oh my guess was good. I'm a little surprised given that Aoshima probably has the CAD files for the car or scanners.
  6. I'm not following...what's the problem? UPDATE: My guesses are that the shapes of the fender and rear outlet are exaggerated, or there is no attachment points for the side glass?
  7. I just see broken links, no pics.

Awesome job! Looks like it belongs on the green at Pebble Beach.
  9. Thanks guys, much appreciated! Glad you liked the finished result.
  10. Don't forget the highly simplified direct fuel injection system, which was a first for Mercedes production cars. Though that's not as visible with the belly pans in place. It doesn't bother me that the DBS doesn't have a full engine - I'm just happy Tamiya did a modern Aston in the first place! But I'm intrigued by the idea of a reissue with a full engine insert. Maybe a DBS Volante at the same time.
  11. It's Model Factory Hiro ignition wire, which I cut to length and carefully glued each piece on with a small drops of super glue. Its a little out of scale, but this size worked better than the smaller size MFH wire.
  12. I'm so happy to be done with this model, which if I remember correctly, I began in 2006/07, because it was a pain in the ass. And I haven't completed a model since 2012! I had every intention to build a replica of my friend's 360 spider that I drove in Miami (pictured with me in it), but had to make two concessions: 1) his has red stitching, not piping and 2) his has the optional 3 piece wheels. I found that red stitching would be hard to replicate, so I went with piping, and I couldn't get the 3 piece wheels, borrowed from the Revell Ferrari Superamerica, to fit right. On one side of the car, the wheels fit perfect, but on the other side, the wheels stuck out and I really had no room for various reasons to modify the wheel or the hub. Oh well. At least I was easily able to convert it to a 6-speed manual like his car. It was a pain in the ass to build because this was my first 2k clear paint job and I ruined the first body by stripping it too many times and snapped both delicate side skirts, so I had to get replacement parts from Tamiya. I also found that the design of the 360 leads to many areas being susceptible to rubbing through the paint, like the edges of the engine hood and bumpers and the character line on the side. In addition, there are tight areas, like between the roll hoops, that are just plain hard to polish. Finally, never will I paint a model black again unless its metallic, which would hide flaws somewhat. Detail sets used: some parts from Acustion and the shifter from Sakatsu. Tamiya TS-14 black with Zero 2K clear.
  13. Great job! It looks much better than out of the box. Tell me, did you re-contour the fenders to add the slight crease on top, or what did you do?
  14. Looks very well built!
  15. Looks good! The carbon fiber on the hood is a subtle, tasteful addition!
  16. My two cents: Skip and Steve are very close on the color, and probably only differ because of their perceptions. A warm gray could be taken for a beige. On to another topic. As Steve pointed out, Tamiya included speakers but no radio. An easy fix, but the problem I'm running into (short of creating it myself) is that I haven't found a suitable photo etch radio. A google search reveals photoetch radio faces for 70's and 80's cars, but not really for 50's and 60's cars. Anyone have any luck?
  17. Great work! Very clean and excellent photography. I happen to like the battleship gray color!
  18. Awesome work. Thanks for the info re: the wires. I was wondering because their size looks just right. I got my kit today!
  19. Randy - where'd you get the orange wires? Thanks!
  20. Great paint, and it looks cool without the fender bridges!
  21. You did a beautiful job. My problem with this kit is that Italeri failed to capture the correct shape of the front fenders and omitted the very fine crease that runs a top the fenders. The Renaissance resin version has a better body.
  22. My bad...I forgot that you had mentioned that already. Can't wait to see more!
  23. Bill, in my build I'm planning on removing the lip on the body where the rear bumper meets it. One, the real car doesn't have that lip and two, the bumper doesn't sit right. Tamiya points out plenty of corrections to Revell's original instructions, but doesn't call for removing this lip. Oddly enough, Revell corrected this on the1/18 version of the car.
  24. why do you go through a paint store when there is model paint suppliers like Gravity Colors, Zero or ScaleFinishes? I know ScaleFinishes has Laguna Green, as I've ordered it.
