You can compare here: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10024664 and http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10053687 Also, you might want to get some of these to replace the awful decals. I note there's no SC300/SC400 script. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-18-1-12-1-24-1-43-chrome-metal-decals-LEXUS-VOLVO-2078-/182957049070

Just from my eye. One example I can point out - I think the side window shape near the C-pillar is slightly more accurate on the Fujimi.

Toy fair 2018 news and pictures.
BVC500 replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Welp. Looks like I won't be buying any new kits this year, unless I decide to go for the reissued Toyota 2000GT and Mazda Cosmos. Nothing interests me this year. Maybe a good thing, as I have too many kits to build. -
I have both. I think the Fujimi captures the Soarer/SC400 exterior look better, but the Aoshima has better interior detail (though Fujimi interior is perfectly acceptable). The real sin is that the Fujimi kit has the wrong chassis. It uses the generic chassis Fujimi used for BMW and Mercedes at the time. The Soarer/SC400 actually uses a shortened Celsior/LS40 chassis, and Fujimi made an accurate chassis for its LS400 kit, so I don't know why they didn't use it for the Soarer/SC400. Maybe the Soarer/SC400 was developed before the Celsior/LS400. These kits are expensive, for who knows what reason. They used to be readily available on eBay for cheap, but us modelers are now holding onto our stashes!

Amazing work! So detailed. Color combination is perfect.
-
Cool concept! One of Fujimi's worst offerings in terms of detail and accuracy.
-
Off to a good start! Just one suggestion - you may want to try a different paint, like Vallejo acrylics or Tamiya acrylics for your interior colors, especially if you brush on the color. You'll get a smoother, more accurate finish. Nice colors you chose.

Looks awesome! Can you tell me what parts you ordered from RBMotion for the rear shocks? -
Thanks James! We shall see.

Anyone has intel on Aoshima? They were on a roll with Lambo and Pagani kits, but since those kits, its been pretty quiet and they've only been releasing Japanese-centric stuff.

"More detail pictures like the brakes and chassis tree that show just how "enthusiastic" the kit engineers and designers were on this project. And then last week we were treated to this kit description on Revell Germany's own webpage. It was so perfectly on-point that it didn't remain long, but Google has a cache..." Geez, wouldn't it have made more sense (business sense too) to have tooled a 911 and its variations???? Hard to believe Revell was more than enthusiastic about this than other Porsches.

Glad to hear your kit isn't as bad. I think the parking sensors are there, just hard to see in your photo due to shadows and glares. I can tell that particular car has them because two of them are located in the black strip between the exhaust tips. There's four in back, four in front. A couple of people offered good, easy suggestions for fixing this issue. Thanks guys! Rob is right - the blue circle is for the tow hook. I note the front has two, when it should only have one. Probably due to either LHD or RHD configurations, and you have to fill one depending on which you choose.

Nice job, and great color combination!

Nice engine detailing. Can't wait to see more.

Looking forward to seeing more. Radwood is a cool event! Keep in mind that the instructions call for chrome trim around the windshield, doors, and tonneau cover, but that's incorrect. It should be painted black chrome.
-
Sure. When is the next meeting? Query: how best to replicate the parking sensors? A very small hollow punch tool?
-
Look, the rear only has one parking sensor! It is also missing the parking sensors on the sides of the front bumper (has them on the bumper front).
-
Yeah, nothing interests me from Revell this year.

A couple more things about the body. 1) the fenders around the headlights are sloppy and will need to be smoothed out because they headlights are supposed to fit flush at the top of the fender, and the inboard character line is way too pronounced. I did a test fit and they are not flush at the top, which probably can't be corrected without shaving down the fender, but at least it can be minimized with some smoothing. 2) I think the shape of the rear quarter light is off. It's too rounded and not as sleek as the real car, which despite being a sedan, mimics the window shape of the 911. 3) Finally, the slope of the hatch back should not be one continuous line - it should change angles every so slightly at the base of the rear window so that it looks less like a hatchback and more like a sedan. I don't want to sound like a big complainer - I do enjoy cleaning up Revell's bodies as part of the build process - its just a favorite pastime to discuss kit flaws!

To follow up on Peteski's review, the body molding is a step back for Revell. It looks more crude than recent offerings. There are sink marks on the roof (just above the hatch opening), rear bumper, just above the rear lights on the sides where the bumper meets the quarter panels, and 4 sink marks on the deployable wing. Also, the shut lines are very shallow - - the top of the rear hatch shut line is barely there, and it will be tricky to re-scribe. The rest of the kit looks nicely molded.

1/25 AMT '65 Lincoln Continental Customizing Kit
BVC500 replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Would have been nice if AMT had added metal transfers for the emblems and scripts, but maybe the aftermarket will take care of that. -
