Hey guys... This is a "back in the saddle" build for me. I've been out of the hobby for a while and am easing back into it. Mostly box stock but for the Wheels. I'm getting there but the time is getting tight.

Thank you again gentlemen! I now have both the Revell of Germanay and Fujimi kits along with the p/e set. In comparison and as advised I can clearly see the differences with the bodies as seen side by side. The R.O.G. kit looks to me to be a great kit, but I'll be going with the Fujimi and some aftermarket details first. This will be a long term build. Wish me luck, I'll need it!

Photo Etch and Small Parts
John E. Bowers Jr. replied to oldman23's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
As silly as this might sound... Silly Putty works well for me. It has a "just right" release that has given me great results for years. -
As the title states, I have two questions... Just how different are the Fujimi and Revell of Germany Ferrari 250 GTO kits? And do you guys offer an accurate engine or any other parts kits for either of these? The reason I ask is because I'm branching away from my mainstay builds of American muscle cars to get into some European exotics. so I figured I'd ask from the best in the business. Thanks in advance. J.B.

This is a great model. Thank you for sharing the vid! I have tried the rustall product twice and have been dissatisfied both times. The plastic bag wrap is something I'll try the next time. Thanks again!

I did one of these also, as I would have a 1:1 if I could possibly afford one. Same color, too!

Coming Off A 3 Year Slump-A Completed Project
John E. Bowers Jr. replied to CraigDaModeler's topic in Model Cars
Thank you Craig, for both sharing this beautiful build and for coming back to the community after the hurricane that won't be mentioned. Perhaps soon we can have our 1/12th scale Camaros side by side on the table at an event. It would be nice to finally meet you . Keep 'em coming! -
Rubber Sanding Blocks ?
John E. Bowers Jr. replied to Steve D.'s topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Steve- I have an ample supply of this stuff. P.M. or email me with your street address and I'll send a piece out to ya. J.B. -
I bought the Sophisticated Finishes two part rust treatment about seven months ago but have not had the chance to try it out until tonight. I've found that after a thorough shaking and stirring the metal base coat won't seem to cover without a lumpy, clumpy finish. I want to achieve a rusty finish that would be accurate for a weathered, neglected paint type finish, but out of the bottle this stuff seems way too thick for that. It looks great for a rusty as heck underside, though. Does anyone here have experience with thinning this product for a realistic topside weathering project? Thanks in advance! J.B.

Rubber Sanding Blocks ?
John E. Bowers Jr. replied to Steve D.'s topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I think I might have what you're looking for. It's not rubber, rather a very dense heavy foam. I have been using it for many years as a sanding aid. PM me with questions. J.B. -
Like everyone has said, it's all about the amount of fun you will get from either. You know exactly what you have with the Quad but will the Camaro cost you more than you can afford? The pictures tell me a few things... #1) The motor ( with how many hard miles?) has been tinkered with by who, and how much do they know about one of these? #2) The front air dam and blacked out lights could be an attempt to hide some minor body damage. Far from factory stock if that is a concern for you. #3) The intereior is filthy and has seat covers. The seats in third and fourth gens take a beating in the lumbar bolster areas and can be expensive to replace. I'm leaning towards the Camaro for two reasons: To drive it like you stole it or to restore it to its original glory... The choice is only yours .

I acknowledge that it hs been too long since anyone here has heard from me. Sorry guys. It's been a turbulent couple of months but all is well. My model area is coming along well, but the rest of the house is still taking priority with the details about decorating, re-doing and finishing in general. The garage and deck will be a blast this summer! Lyle- I do plan on being at this months meeting... I may suffer from some "Styrene Detox", so it might be wise for us to arrange an ambulance to take me to a bona-fide hobby shop for rehab!!! Later guys J.B.

This Is What Our Hobby Needs
John E. Bowers Jr. replied to 93Z34's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This is a very cool write up. I think that it very well describes most of us here. I too have had friends from work out to the house and some of them talk about building model cars in their youth. I guess the small plastic love just stays with some of us for a long time. -
Beautiful build! I'm desparatly trying to finish this same kit up, but with recently moving I have had to "back burner" my hobby. I am having some trouble with getting the stance right. Have you done anything to alter the kit stance?

Cleaning out the garage
John E. Bowers Jr. replied to Clay's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This is coming from very recenet experience... You don't want to move all of that stuff. Trust me, I just did it and it sucked! -
More MAMA Holiday Bash pics!!!!
John E. Bowers Jr. replied to cruz's topic in Model Club News and Announcements
I really wish I could have been there Marcos, but I am in the process of buying a new house, and it has taken most of my spare time away from me. We close tomorrow and move this weekend... I'd rather take an a$$ kicking rather than going through this hassle, but you should see my new "my space"! Great pics!!! -
I'm torn between the '55 Chevy and the Nickleson Mustang. You do some very good work... I wish that I had something to show for this year, but I don't. Life (and death) got in the way. Most excellent builds!!! J.B.

MAMA Meeting & Holiday Bash
John E. Bowers Jr. replied to Lyle Willits's topic in Model Club News and Announcements
I really, really wish I could have been there, Lyle... But life sometimes gets in the way. Today I'll be packing up my entire hobby room with regrets that it will be a couple of weeks until I get to "play" again. And then there's all of the stuff in the garage... You never realize how much stuff you accumulate over the years until you have to move it!
