  1. I'm not going to be able to work on any model cars for a couple of months, but don't feel sorry for me. We're moving to a much bigger house at the end of the month. Packing every thing up and getting it out of here has taken priority and that's a good thing. I'll spare the details except for these... Full finished basement including a room that I claim as my own model building space. A 2/12 car garage fot the 1:1 projects. A 700 square foot deck looking out to nothing but forest, never to be built on again. I'm stoked but at the same time I'm kind of scared. I just spent a lot of toadskins. We be O.K.!!!
  2. Another sincere vote for the IMSA Corvette GTP. An outstanding replica of a fine automobile, very well done. The 1933 Chrysler Imperial Indy Pace Car is an extremly close second in my own humble opinion. It's a tough choice without being able to see them all for myself, with my own eyes. The're all very nice builds and someday I hope to be within your league. Well done my friend!!!
  3. Looking fantastic Lyle! You know that this style build is right up my alley...
  4. Ditto times two... I just recently worked through my father-in laws' passing and know it's hard. I lost my own mother over twenty years ago, and still feel the pain. I'm going to be out of it for at least a couple of months myself. Llife does have a way of getting in the way, but family comes FIRST. Take care of them and when you are comfortable with it, get ahold of us. We are here... J.B.
  5. Man, Marcos, this one is up there with your usual standards, over the top. Are you gonna bring this to the M.A.M.A. meeting in December? I'd love to see it on the table with my own eyes.
  6. Thats some very impressive work. I'd love to see the entire diorama, it must be huge! Is the builder a site member?
  7. It's a great idea, Steef. I would like to add my encouragement for this... I'm in!
  8. Hey Kitbash- I'm in the same boat... I have nothing to show for all the hours spent (enjoyed) at my bench for all of 2008. I've made some pretty good progress on a few projects, but nothing has made it to the shelf. All that really matters to me is that I love to be surrounded by my hobby for a couple of hours a week.
  9. Are there any members of the Y City scale modelers here? I am from Cambridge but a military career took me from home long ago. Together with my own small family I plan on travelling back home for the Thanksgiving holiday. I'm wondering if you guys have a meeting scheduled within a +/- week of the holiday. I have been to one of your contests about ten years ago with an entry that was simply blown away by Vern Heiser(sp?) but still got a second out of it. The whole day was a blast. I'd like to hook up with you "homeboizze" so can somebody please get back to me on this??? TIA
  10. Pete, this question kinda scares me because I have an order in for this same set of wheels... I hope you (we) can get an answer to this potential problem.
  11. Hi Dave, I never, ever thought I could offer you advice (unsolicited) on any one of your fantastic builds, but to me the shifter handle looks too tall and the knob too big. I have this same kit #07395 that happens to be next on my list to start, but I must clear some long lingering projects from the bench first. Your take on this one looks great and I have a couple of questions for you before I start my build... #1: At what height did you measure the scratchbuilt injection stacks? Measurements in millimeters or thousants is fine. #2: Your exaust treatment looks most exellent. Is that a kit detail or did you combine aluminum tubings for the final result? #3: I suspect the seat belts are photoetch and masking tape, well done. #4 Should the seats really be blue? At this point I have not even cracked the box open or done any real reaserch, but I go to bed with my mind swimming with ideas. It's guys like you that I thank for being able to turn to for help like this. J.B.
  12. Thanks for the numbered picture! I just found out that I have already met and talked to Mr. Bill Geary, but we didn't exchange names... This is a man who I've wanted to meet since I first saw the pictuures of his red Corvette in a magazine. This guy gave me good praise on my models and I didn't even know who he was! WOW!
  13. Thanks George... That's what I love about the meetings and friendly contests. The comradary, meeting people who have been involved with our hobby for years longer than I have and sharing knowledge. This S**t is FUN!!! Heather has never asked why I do what I do because she has built some model cars in her distant past. She is very acceptant and tolerant of my (our) hobby.
  14. You guys are in for a treat! Norm lightens my wallet every month at the M.A.M.A. meetings. His stuff is fantastic!!!
  15. This is an absolutly jaw-dropping build, man. The Buick is simply outstanding, and when coupled with the speedboat it makes a display that when seen in person must really "knock your socks off"! Great job man. Are you a member of the Y-City Model Car Club?
  16. I was very close to buying one of these at Saturdays M.A.M.A. meeting. Went outside to have a smoke and to prioritize my future build plans. After some turmoil I decided that the Merc wasn't even close to the top. Too much to do, so little time. Great progress so far and I know I'll see the outstanding final outcome of this build in December at the FEAST!
  17. Hey len, our rooms look amazingly similar, we must have the same decarator! Cool projects going on there.
  18. It's gonna be beautiful either way Ron, I wish I was in possession of the skills to build as well as you do I aslo like the idea of a base model, no frills big block 4 speed Biscayne. Hope to see ya later this month. J.B.
  19. Agreed. I have changed direction about 22 and 1/2 degrees and have decided to use the Revell GT body. A little more work may be in store for me although it is more accurate for the movie car replication. Thanks, J.B.
  20. Great pictures, thanks Tom. I had really hoped to get to go back home (I'm from Cambridge) for this one, but it wasn't in the cards.
  21. That looks FANTASTIC! Stance, color, interior, it all just looks right. Every aspect has impact. The first thing I noticed and made me take another look were the wheels. I love 'em. Different, you don't see them every day. Great job!!!
  22. Thank you Lyle!!! I am a Camaro enthuusiast, have owned many and currently own a 1:1 Z/28. This build looks good except that the Z/28 grill emblem is on the drivers side on the real deal.
  23. Thanks Earl, I didn't see your post until today. The Camaro did go on to win the 'Replica Stock' catagory, which is a huge honor for me because it is the very first "Harry Charon Memorial Award". I also had another of my models photographed by "the other" and that was a thrill but I have no idea if or when it will get printed.
  24. Hanna actually gave me some time to build yesterday. No power loss, but too messy to do anything outside. Today is a whole different story though.
