  1. Exactly the information I was looking for, thank you!
  2. Thank you! Yes this helps. I bought this set for a future build, but am itching to polish and put together these wheels in advance because in kit form they look so nice and does have 4 seperate sets of spokes in the stackup and I want to get it right. Thanks again! J.B.
  3. During my long quest to become an outstanding builder I have purchased a set of photo etched wire wheels for a Ferrari. Problem is, as nice as this pricey set was, the instructions are extremely vague. Has anyone here assembled the Hobby Design wheels (kit #HD07-0034) who can give me an idea which order that the five piece spoke set fits up into the beautifully spun aluminum rim? I'm a babe in the woods on this one and don't want to screw it up guys! Thanks, J.B.
  4. This is one of my favorites. Keep in mind that is in 1/12th scale and modified from a Z/28 to an SS396. I've had 'em in the past and am in the market for another one... Or two!
  5. This is just too cool! I participated in a "make and take" event with some youngsters at the LHS about two years ago. A great time was had by all!
  6. I think the color combo you chose is FANTASTIC!. I also built one of these without the stripes and a wheel change:
  7. Oh, man... It has taken me a long time to convince my wife to accept my friends within the model car building community. She already knows that I can be a "wild anad carazy guy" ... But I now draw the line at showing my man tits. Not even during spring break. Not anymore. I'm all about having fun though!
  8. I am an active large scale builder. After having entered a 1/12th scale factory manufactured kit, built and modified to my own specific desires won a very prestigious award at a large east coast NNL. I'm sure you can recognise the kit that this began as... The aftermarket parts availability for large scale parts has been disappointing though.
  9. Nice to hear that you are back on American soil Clay! I've been involved with international military conflicts and have the limp to prove it. I'm very sorry to hear about the loss to your family. Family is important, keep them close. Semper Fi!
  10. Another plug for lacquer thinner with Testors paints. It cuts the paint down just fine using about half the quantity of the Testors thinner, and I've never had a bad reaction with the styrene.
  11. Has the Barrett-Jackson mindset begun to influence the model car scene?!
  12. I honestly cannot wait to meet you!
  13. Your build of this kit looks good. Believe it or not, I have these very same kits on my bench right now thanks to the evilbay. Upon initial inspection both looked very nice, but after a more thorough inspection there were some problems with the body. The cabriolet has a broken B pillar on the drivers side and the coupe body is very badly warped. The engines look to be very detailed and easily super detailed. We'll see just how tough I am...
  14. That build is fantastic! Just right! Are you a member of M.A.M.A. (Maryland Automotive Modelers Association)? If not, you should be. It's a great group of guys and you would fit right in. Just a thought. I like the Chevrolet "big cars" tainted in red. Heck, I like any car in red!
  15. We're socked in here too down in southern Maryland. I've been denied access to the hangar since the government has decided to shut down. So... If I must be confined to the house, I will build on!
  16. Marcos, you continue to blow my mind with your spectacular builds. I wish to be at your skill level one day, but this day I have to shovel snow... I have a '59 Caddy in the stash, but I'm not gonna get to it very soon. Great work!!!
  17. Very good tips, guys! I keep mine soaking in clean soapy water overnight after each use. Rinse, let it dry, use again. They still wear, but at the same time last pretty well. I always polish wet.
  18. Marcos, your builds are just too cool, right up my alley. I can't keep up with your speed, it's been a year now but tinkering around with the new house and in the big garage I just cannot find the time to do what you do with the plastic. I have some on the bench to be seen at Mid Atlantic NNL and it is slowly becoming a priority... In my own mind... Heather says we'll be painting the living room this spring. Oh joy! Keep up the great work man!!!
  19. I saw this posted on Camaro Z/28.com earlier. One descriptive word... Incredible! Simply show stopping work! I hope he'll hit the show circuit.
  20. I have built some similar subjects as a young lad, and have a couple of old Monogram classics in my stash. I'll get to one of them someday and hope that it will come out looking as good as yours. Great job!
  21. Myself, I've had extremely good results with "Colors by Boyd" High Gloss Clear (a Testors product), although always airbrushed. Are you going to use a polishing system?
  22. Thanks Bob, You've provided me with some comforting information. I guess I'll have a lot of fun by doing "what I want!".
  23. Any input? The response(s) to this is going to greatly influence how I finish this build. Thanks!
  24. Thank you for the pictures Marcos. I should have been there.
  25. Just few pics of whats in my garage right now... Gonna change up on these.
