  1. That's got a cool look to it.
  2. I started this for my daughter when first reissued and had paint problems, back in the box it went. It was decided that it made a good subject for our club diorama this year so I finally finished her up early Sunday morning. Built out of the box and painted Testors Electric Pink One Coat and White vinyl paint. It's a funky little kit, but it's a great slump buster and one that made me smile as I was building it, so I am going to have to get the TireBird and ZZZZZ-28 kits.....maybe the reissue airplane kits too.
  3. That looks great, nice colors.
  4. I've always wanted to tackle this kit....looks cool in purple
  5. Thanks guys. To answer some questions The grille emblem is a decal, might have come with the kit, I don't recall. The grille detail "secret"....... research, research, research I knew I snapped this a while back.....the real car....I wonder where it is now Now that the "COPO" (base model:) is out, which is what got me excited to post my Nova's, I can build my 1:1
  6. Thanks for the kudo's....mmmmm kudo's This was a commission build and the stripes were sent by the customer and are from somewhere in the aftermarket. They were most likely intended for the AMT Nova since this was built as soon as I got the first issue kit and he had the stripes on hand. Wish I had more. The interior was, IIRC, sprayed with SEM Landau black vinyl paint through my airbrush.
  7. That looks awesome in that color with the chrome reverse.
  8. The paint on that is insane. Should stand out on Harry's shelf.
  9. Posted progress on this a couple of years ago and thought I posted it finished, but couldn't find it. Built from the SS350 kit as a replica of the CARS magazine road test car and by far my most detailed build to date. I robbed 4 or 5 kits of miscellaneous parts and decals to build this. Being a first issue kit I had to turn the gas tank around. Then I modified the kit hood with a 67 Vette scoop. The traction bars, Mallory coil, Vinyl top, voltage regulator are scratchbuilt and fully plumbed and wired everything I could think of. Testors Fathom Green was used for the color. Thanks for lookin'
  10. Not many details as I built this one out of box curbside. It is painted Olympic Gold with a black Vinyl interior. Redlines and pinstripes are from who knows where.
  11. The Glue Crew, they are a good size club, IPMS I think, but they have a good number of non military builders.....and they put on a good show with swap in October in Wausau There is also a club in Fon du Lac that started up in the last few years. They seem to be pretty active but I don't have any info on them....can't recall their name either, but you might try contacting Focus Hobby in FDL, they might be able to put you in touch with them.
  12. The 2 tone makes this car for me, very smooth too
  13. Nice work, looks good in red with the white interior
  14. Just finished this this cool little kit up last week, straight outta the box. I thought it needed an icier look so I found a fingernail polish that looked the part and followed it with Tamiya clear. That's all
  15. Try Testors Metalizer followed with a wet coat of Dullcote, let dry, then apply a black wash(or darker Metalizerwash) followed by another shot of Dullcote. If this ends up too dark you can drybrush metalizer(same or a lighter/darker color to suit your needs) over it. This can be followed by more dullcote if a flatter finish is what your after. I like to have the full range of Metalizers on the bench and can get many different effects and enjoyment using these methods. Good luck All the raw metal surfaces on here, except the headers, were done this way, IIRC the intake is metalizer stainless steel, and the cam covers are buffing aluminum This "mag" was done the same way, but using Metalizer magnesium
  16. If memory serves it was a couple of black wash applications over the white plastic to fill in the background, then drybrushed over it with thinner on a brush to remove any of the wash from the digits
  17. This was the easiest woodgrain I have done. It is molded in this tan plastic, so I just slopped some gloss brown( which was kinda transparent anyway) over it with a narrow round brush and it just turned out.....usually doesn't work that way for me, Murphy must of had the day off. SAK.....The interior color is Light Ivy Gold. I ordered a spray bomb from Dearborn Classics and you can probably do 4 or 5 interiors with it
  18. That's funny, the white was the last of a can I had lying around too, but it was a can of Dupli-color Lacquer. It is a bit of an off white but doesn't look it unless it is next a bright white.
  19. I think you nailed it with this one...cut,print, and stick on car
  20. Finished this one last summer. This is an old friction promo that I rebuilt and detailed showroom stock. The color is Olive Mist Poly with Ivy gold for the interior. I also used some Modelhaus tires....and yes, it still vroooms across the floor:
  21. Nice build of a rarely seen car
  22. and this too. I am kicking myself hard for not getting one.
  23. The square with 4 wires sticking out is my body holder and was made with foam and 2 coathangers. Each one is bent in a squared off U shape with the ends pushed through from the bottom. I then clipped them off at an acceptable length and bent the ends at a 45 degree angle facing outwards so the tips contact the inside of the body. The sharp ends dig into the body a little holding it on place, but after having two bodies come loose while painting I started using a little masking tape to hold the ends to the body. The foam is wrapped with 3 inch masking tape and re-wrapped when it starts to get too much overspray buildup on it. I have been using this one for about 10 years now and plan to build a better one sometime in the near future. The long rectangles are the same foam wrapped in tape so I can stick toothpicks or pieces of sprue with alligator clips moounted to them. Body holder doing it's job A smaller one that I use for howheels, 1/43, and smaller bodies like this. I also use a lot of doubled over masking tape, and superglue pieces of sprue to parts then clamp them with the alligator clips
  24. Keep coming back and looking at this very cool build. Nice work as usual
  25. Thanks again for the good words guys, gives me warm fuzzies Neverevernever will I ever stop building, don't think I could if I tried:) I just stopped posting after my computer died, then bought a house, and also family, work work work, 1:1 hobbies, etc blah blah blah. Lurked and started posting over at Spotlight for little while and decided to come back here. Lot's of new (and old) "faces" and stuff to look at, and I have quite a bit more to post now too. And yep, still painting @ Pierce 6 days a week.
