  1. Hey Doug, I did a lot of research on this when I built the Cummins in my avatar. I even went to our local Cummins dealer and compared paint samples. The best choice I have found are Tamiya colors XF-59, Desert Yellow mixed with a small amount of XF-55 Deck Tan. These are both flat colors and will go on great with no "build up". I did a light flat black wash on my engine after I painted it. you can see more pictures of it in my Smokey and the Bandit Kenworth album on my Fotki site. http://www.public.fotki.com/lotso/
  2. Nobody knows this???
  3. I have this Coronado and the T2000. They are not as great as you may think! I was aware of these kits long before they were actually available and had planned to buy two of each one. (The Kenworth T2000, Peterbilt 387, Freightliner Coronado and the Frieghtliner Century. After receiving the T2000 and seeing that the surface of all the parts had a bad "orange peel" (I think this was from the being produced by Rapid Prototyping?) and there being air bubbles in the middle of the "glass" windshield, that was the last one I bought! The Coronado was given to me for free! Bobby Griffen supposedly remastered these kits and they are supposed to be a little better now but I just wanted you guys to be aware of what you'd be getting. I personally would save my money for the new Lonestar! You'll get the whole truck and you could get two of them for the price of that cab alone!!! Oh and, Merry Christmas!
  4. There ya go!!!!!!! Man, it looks even better than I thought it would!!!!!!!!
  5. When I see a picture in the gallery at the top of the main forum page, how do I go about finding the topic it was posted in?
  6. I was thinking of how one might look in a Jade green like that but then I remembered, HMMMMMMMM, I have Western Distributing decals and color matched paint!!!! I think the ol' 53 Pete is going to have a modern companion!
  7. Jim Littiken on the forum here (micro nitro) makes some really cool 1/16 drag wheels for funny cars and such, out of aluminum. His work is top quality too!
  8. Hello Christian! My email is: bwicker@satx.rr.com
  9. WOW! That really is lookin great Dave!!!!!!!! VERY nice work!!!!!
  10. Hi Steve, thanks! What's strange is that all I used to have to type was the www.public.fotki.com and it used to show as a link? I guess something changed in the forum? I'll type it like you did from now on. Thanks again!
  11. Does anyone have an idea why this is happening? (I figured I'd bump this back up as it got lost in the mayhem yesterday)
  12. I noticed a while back, when I leave my link to my fotki albums, it won't allow you to click on it to go to my albums? Am I doing something wrong? www.public.fotki.com/lotso
  13. But..........it has the original paint!!!!!!
  14. Hey Wayne, really sorry to hear this........It's so hard to lose anyone we are close too. It makes it worse to not know why he chose to leave us. Only time will heal the pain.
  15. You could put any sleeper on any truck but there's going to be a little work involved. For instance the 4300 has a smaller rear cab window than the Mack so you would need to do some modification there. The pass through boot of the 4300 sleeper is a bit long so I would suggest cutting the molded on boot completely off the 4300 sleeper, widening the opening and then make a new boot. You could even make it a walk in rather that a crawl though. Next issue would be height. I don't have a Mack cab and 4300 sleeper in front of me but I'm pretty sure the Mack cab may be a bit shorter in height compared to the 4300 sleeper. As long as you can get your pass through areas to line up, your good.
  16. I have had slot cars all my life, only HO though. I really like the 1/25 cars and have seen some really awesome looking hand made cars but I can't figure out how you guys can build a slot car soooo nice and then run it on a track???????? I could see if you only go slow but I'd be scared to death that the car would fly off in a turn or someone else's car would fly into it!!! Do some of you guys build these really nice slot cars but not run them just to know that you could if you wanted?
  17. Oooooooh, that looks like fuuuun!
  18. After looking at all your posts I gotta say, you do some really nice work!! The paint jobs are gorgeous!!!! You don't run them on the tires that come in the kits do you?? I would think they would be really out of balance? Are you just using the kit wheels for show? As nice as they are, you ought to build the whole kit into a full model (and then send it to me!)
  19. That's cool! I can't believe how real the graphics are getting!!!!
  20. WOW! Both rigs are cooooooooooooool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really like the color schemes! Excellent job on the tarps too! How did you cut them to where the lower edge is straight all the way around the trailer?
  21. Thanks for that link but that's not going to work. For one, the stacks I need are 5/16 outside dia. and second, being an automotive/truck/rv technician all my life, I've used many line bending tools but I have yet to see one that will produce a quick enough bend and won't kink thin wall tubing. I think Christian may be using a thinner walled tubing and drilling it out on the top to give it the thin wall look. In any case, he makes them so nice, I'd just like to buy his and be done with it! LOL
  22. Hello Christian, I have been admiring your builds. Very nice work! I see your able to bend aluminum into a quick radius for the lower elbows on stacks! I am currently building Mis Behavin, the 1953 Peterbilt of Western Distributing and would really like to buy a pair of your stacks to use on it!!! Would that be possible? Please let me know. thanks! More pics at: www.public.fotki.com/lotso
  23. Hey Jason, looking great so far! This is one of my most favorite kits and I'm currently building one just like the box art. I have made many modifications though to include a correct front and rear suspension, a resin 351 Cleveland and real aluminum, machined Centerlines with machined aluminum lug nuts from RB Motion. The wheels and lug nuts were all made to my specs from drawings I produced. For anyone interested, you can see the pics at www.public.fotki.com/lotso
  24. Wow! That was really, really baaaaad! I've seen better acting in an infomercial!
  25. Hey Dave, when you have time, would it be possible to get some up close shots of the wheels? They look great, I was just hoping to see all the detail. Also, are the center hubs of the rear wheels separate from the wheel itself? Thanks!!!!!!
