TV show American Trucker
Ben replied to Ben's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Well, I gotta say, I'm pretty disappointed with the show now. To me, ever since the "Smokey and the Bandit" episode, the show is headed downhill! The acting is like it's geared towards five year olds and there were too many non truck related topics discussed. When I saw that Kelvin guy, I almost turned the channel! I couldn't stand those guys on the last show! (second season of Trick My Truck) That acting would gag a maggot!!!! I know some of you may like those "super customs" that those shows produce but I'd much rather see a Peterbilt restored to looking brand new with smaller amounts of aftermarket stuff. Texas bumpers are cool but do they need to be wider than the truck and a half inch off the ground??? That's not practical at all! I like trucks for what they were and for what they are, not for what someone's artistic mind thinks they ought to be! -
This is an ironic thread for me. I've been on a diet now for ten days straight and I've lost 13 lbs. I'm 6'6" tall and I got up too 309 lbs. Tired all the time, legs and feet really hurt and the fear of worsening my health finally made me buckle down and do it! I've been on this diet before and It's really not bad! They call it the Mayo Clinic diet, among other names but it's pretty simple. Two eggs, two pieces of bacon for breakfast, and an 8 ounce glass of grapefruit juice. For lunch, I can eat any kind of meat, as much as I want and a salad with any dressing. (Been using Bacon Ranch)and an 8 ounce glass of grapefruit juice. For dinner, again, it's any kind of meat, a salad and also a green vegtable with another 8 ounce glass of grapefruit juice. They recommend 12 days on, two days off. Supposedly I'll lose about 50 lbs in 2-1/2 months! I'm never hungry as you can eat till your full. It actually states that, the more you eat, the more you'll lose!

AMT truck releases in limbo?
Ben replied to The Modeling Hermit's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
There's people out there that, if you gave them a bar of gold, they would complain that it's too shiny!!!! BOO HOO! If they don't like a part in the kit, DON'T BUY IT!!!!!!! Stay in your corner and whine and the rest of us will enjoy not having to pay 150.00 for an old kit! -
Wow Fletch, that's some pretty nice work!!!!!! The weathering on the Chevy looks great!

Well, you sure have a lot of friends that build models now! No more keeping them to yourself! Lets see those puppies!

Ben replied to cowboysevens's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Hey Dennis, Fasig Graphics can take that picture you have of the real truck and with the measuments you tell them, they can make those stripes and words into a decal for you. It's not cheap but they do do great work!!!! -

Tamiya makes an upgrade kit that has the chain and sprockets, to go with their 1/6 Honda race bike that is photo etch and very realistic! -

That is pretty cool! Could use smaller wheels and tires in the front though. -
Very nice! I think you did a great job on it!!!!

Wow! A thousand bucks!

I was watching that auction as that kit and the Pinto are the only two kits I need to where I have the entire Racing Scenes series but I won't pay that much to get it! There were two versions of this kit, one with a black body which I've heard is much more rare and the regular version with the yellow body. There was an auction a while back that had both the vega and Pinto kits. I'm pretty sure that one sold for about 1500.00! -
Looks good. Nice truck too! I'd like to see a side shot of it!

I've been putting the finishing touches on this cab over the last couple days. Just finished puting the last of the rivets back on. (I don't want to see a rivet for a while!) This cab will be available soon from Eric at P&P Resins.o/352110cab.jpg

That does look good Dave! Just the right amount of gloss to look realistic.

I don't like shooting thick glossy paint on my engines and was wondering if anyone has seen Ford engine blue in a flat base, preferably in a spray can?

Ben replied to Mr mopar's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
PhotoCut in New York will do the etch part for you but you need to have that part drawn so it can be printed on etching film. -

WOW!!!!! I really like how it looks in that color!!!!! The box looks great too! Thanks for the update Dave!!!! -
My "high" consists of when I get home from work on Friday and know that I don't have to do anything on Saturday. I get me a big ol' soda turn on some good music, get a snack and clean the bench off. From there on it's constant building. Usually for about 12 to 15 hours straight. I'll then go to bed for a few hours, get up and start building again. Gotta love it!

Hey guy's, on the Cougar, it's molded in green and what they did was take the body and masked it at the body line and gave it a fade line of black along the top on the sides. I'll post a pic here in a minute to show how it looks. What's odd is that the box states that the body and interior are molded in different colors but mine has the same color plastic for both. I looked one up on Ebay and it was the exact same. Also, if you'll notice, they taped off the drivers side at the body line before fogging but they didn't tape off the passenger side?

I'd like to get those Petty Nascars! I think he had three of them but he wanted 100.00 (50.00) each.
