New dually wheels
Ben replied to Ben's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I agree! Even his catalog is very limited on pictures of the items. Most of the stuff I ordered I had seen before but there were some, like these wheels, that I just took a chance on. It's a good thing though as I probably would have tripled my order! -
I have bought from him and the catalogs came for a short period of time. Now the only way I know what he has is when the list is updated on his site. Now, every time I call, and I watch very carefully for the site to update and usually call the same day, everything I ask about is gone! What's the point of even having the website if your going to update your list after everything is already gone???? I asked him to start sending me the catalogs again so I had a chance at the stuff and he said I had to buy a model to get back on the mailing list?!?! I guess I just have to buy whatever he has laying around and be thankful for it????? I mentioned this on another group and about twenty other guys said they went through the exact same scenario!

New dually wheels

Bear with me, tryin to get these stupid pictures worked out! -
I just got these really cool new dually wheels from Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland. They are made exactly like the real ones would be with opposing directional holes, separate tiny acorn lug nuts and really nice GM type one ton rear brake drums and extended rotors. The rotors even have separate calipers! You also get, as an option, a hub that can use a photo etch rotor. They are intended to fit the tires found in the AMT Chevrolet and Dodge dually kits. (As well as many others) They are part# RM-83A and the whole set is 19.95. http://i792.photobucket.com/albums/yy205/lotso/Duallywheels1.jpg

Ford Flacon XB Front Fascia?
Ben replied to Nate's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ooooh, if your wanting to build a regular Falcon XB, there's a resin kit available for that too. It's out of Australia. http://www.scaleautomobilia.com.au/aussiecars.htm http://www.model-cars.info/aussiemuscle.htm -
Ford Flacon XB Front Fascia?

When the Aoshima Interceptor first came out, there was a beautiful resin transkit offered that included everything to turn the kit into the Interceptor as it left the garage for the first time. I have one here. The resin is cast so nice, it looks exactly like white styrene! Also, in case your interested, you can buy the yellow Interceptor in resin, the Holden Monaro that the Toe Cutter was driving in the beginning, the little wagon that Mel and his wife go on vacation it and the yellow Pursuit Special. http://www.comet-miniatures.com/browse.php?s_categ=65&zone=11& http://www.madmaxmodels.com/aoshima.html -
Those are Pope Mobile prototypes!

I don't think you'll have any lack of interest in people wanting one or two! That's very popular engine! Are you able to have it cast over there?

My new favorite commercial
Ben replied to Peter Lombardo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yeah, but why hamsters???? I don't get what hamsters have to do with cars? I "get" everything else about their commercials. Just puzzled why they use hamsters? -
Looking gorgeous so far Dave!!!! Are you going to have it cast when your finished?

Hey guys, some good news on this. There's a guy here in Texas named Cass Kucera that has made some pretty incredible engine masters. The guy does pretty awesome work that easily compares with, if not rivals the engines that Clint Freeman produced. He is wanting to do a 1693!!! He's gathering info right now. I was going to see if anyone here that has pictures, drawings and and useful information would like to send it to Cass to help out?

I got a new model room
Ben replied to MicroNitro's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That sure looks like a cool place to make aluminum wheels!!! (hint, hint) -
I used to be ashamed when I would tell people that my first car was a Gremlin! Now, you've made it to where I can proudly say, "I drove a Gremlin"! I wish mine looked that cool though!

Stalled projects; we all have them.
Ben replied to whale392's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Wait a minute......I thought when you stopped working on a project, you were finished with it? Then you move on to another, "finish" it and then go back to the first project again and "start" again! Yeah, that's the ticket! I have so many unfinished problems that on another group I belong too, they actually started a poll asking if I will ever finish one! Here's a link to just a few of my current projects. www.public.fotki.com/lotso -
Miniature bicycle/motorcycle chain
Ben replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hey Skip, I think Harry is actually referring too El Destructo's reply in your thread showing a picture of a motorcycle. (I say this thinking maybe you have El Destructo on ignore and you can't see his post?) -

I don't think it would be hard but it sure would be tedious doing it over and over and over!
