tv and movie cars they should have made
Ben replied to junkman1153's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Green Goblin truck from Maximum Overdrive was a White Western Star. There have been many debates on it but they always figure it out. -
I'd say I'm pretty advanced. Pretty lazy too! Those two cancel each other out! I'm not in a hurry to build one or anything, I just wondered if one had been made into a kit. I had remembered seeing a Dunn and Reath kit but I couldn't remember the body type. I do appreciate the offer to help though!
-
Did they suggest using the Monogram Troublemaker El Camino chassis as a donor for that resin body or is the builder supposed to scratch build the chassis?
-
I was just watching my DVD of Funny Car Summer and was wondering if anyone ever made a kit of Dunn's rear engine Cuda?

Gene Snow`s: the "Snowman" Charger F/C

Ok, now you guys have me very curious as to what Gene did that was so bad? Can someone give me a hint? You can PM me if you don't want to post it here. And John, really nice build! The weathering looks great! -
Hey Jim, yeah I hope he'll do the whole engine so anyone that doesn't have and AMT "L" series kit can get just the motor to use in any project. Another reason I hope he'll do the whole thing is that I actually had to use two kits to make the engine correct. The cylinder heads and valve covers should be the same for both sides. Not a "right" and a "left" as AMT made them.
-
I'm hoping to get the entire engine with belts, fan, alternator, power steering pump, air pump, air pump mount, starter injection pump, front cover and motor mounts all cast so it can be used in any truck.

A cheap trick that I do is to take some "BB's", wash them in lacquer thinner and put a few in each bottle. When you shake the bottle it will mix the paint like a spray can does. If your paint is older and a bit thick, add a few drops of thinner to it and shake, shake, shake!

Hey Christian, yes it was Bob, or Robert as he answered. He wasn't really rude or anything. He just had a negative tone and didn't seem like he wanted my business? Maybe it was just a bad day for him? As far as everything else I'm just going by what I've heard from several people. The only first hand experience I've had was when I gave a bunch of resin parts to a buddy for him to send to Chrome Tech. Some of the parts I got back had been wrapped in tissue paper. Apparently the top coat had not dried completely and the tissue paper stuck to every part ruining them.
-
Hey Chris, I hope so! I just sent him the pics to see if he's interested.
-
Lookin really good so far Jim! What kit are the rear wheels and tires from? I see you cut out the escape hatch. What are your plans for that?
-
Thanks! The way it will be cast, as far as what parts will be included, it could be used in any truck. I personally have wanted one to put in a Ford C900 tractor.
-
To my knowledge, nobody has offered a Turbo conversion setup for the AMT Cat 3208 naturally aspirated engine and since I'm wanting one for a Ford C900 "Roadway" tractor project I've been wanting to build. I figured I build one. Along the way I also noticed that AMT messed up by making a "right and left" cylinder head and valve cover. The real engine uses the same head and valve cover on both sides, so I robbed another head and valve cover from another kit. I still need to scratch build the correct injection pump and do some finessing and then it will be sent out to be cast. In progress pics can be seen here, in my Cat 3208T album. www.public.fotki.com/lotso

chroming resin parts???
Ben replied to camarobuilder's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Here ya Charlie. littlemotorkarco@talon.net -
I've been doing a lot of research on that lately as I have about 300.00 worth of parts tree'd up and waiting to be plated, myself! I called Chrome Tech and the guy there was not very personable and said he didn't really like plating resin parts. I then called The Little Motor Kar Co. and spoke with Dale. Really nice guy and he does the plating there at his business. With Chrome Tech, you'd be giving your parts to a "middle man" and I've heard horror stories of parts being lost in between. I have heard many good things about The Little Motor Kar Co. and nothing negative, I'll be sending my parts to Dale! You can contact him at: littlemotorkarco@talon.net Prices and instructions on making the trees and fastening the parts are pretty much the same with both places. Hope this helps.

Revell/Revell Germany Kenworth cabover kits
Ben replied to Ben's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Hey guys, thanks for the info. What I'm wanting to do is paint the chassis light blue, If I were to shoot it over the black chassis, I'd have to prime it first. The more coats of paint you use, the more detail you lose. With a white chassis, I could just shoot a couple light coats. -

Revell/Revell Germany Kenworth cabover kits
Ben replied to Ben's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Well, yellow is close to white! If they never made a white chassis, i'll go for that one. What does the box look like? Is it a newer release or one of the originals? -
On the one with the warped chassis, you might try contacting the customer service dept of the company that made the kit. They'll probably replace it free of charge! For the A arms, make a post in the "wanted" section of this forum. There just may be someone that has them laying around?

LOL, I remember that Monster dragster kit!! Talk about going after the younger crowd! LOL The good thing is, with that kit being goofy like that, maybe they'll be easy to find and cheap! Perfect to use as donor kits like I'm wanting to do! Thanks for that tip!
