  1. What great time, guys! Besides an excellent job by MAGS, there was heavy discussion about painting techniques, carb linkage, and a hinge jig that I can't & won't post pics of. I posted pics of the model car show under the Florida auto/truck thread and the 1:1 car show under the 1:1 reference section.
  2. Tower won't have the '56 Chevy until late November.
  3. Nope. He's too far north. I fly into O'Hare and then drive out to Rockford. Besides, Harry didn't offer and he'll probably be at that big hobby show.
  4. There's a ton of strange people in Illinois.
  5. Dr. Cranky, I was thinking of you when I saw this thing. I posted more pics of the 1:1 cars in the 1:1 reference section.
  6. I bought a dryer vent kit, drilled a 4" hole in the wall, and vent outside.
  7. Here's the pics I took at the MAGS show in Tampa. http://s544.photobucket.com/albums/hh330/IMcrazyjim/MAGS%202011%20Tampa/
  8. Here's some pics from the NSRA show in Tampa over the weekend. There's one especially for Dr. Cranky - can you guess which one? http://s544.photobucket.com/albums/hh330/IMcrazyjim/NSRA%202011%20Tampa/
  9. Oh sure. While you guys are having a great time with model eye candy, I'll be traveling to Chicago for a meeting with my Veterans group. It's not fair! I think somebody should have checked my schedule before determining the date of the show Hope you all have a great time - post some pics!
  10. That looks good. I have one of those Dodges sitting around and might have to try building something like that.
  11. I was thinking of taking one of my builds and setting it out in the yard for a year. That should get it crusty and dusty.
  12. Thanks Dominik.
  13. The pics don't do it justice, Rob. Excellent build and great seeing you again.
  14. Congratulations to Rob & Fatkidd for placing at the show. What a great weekend meeting and talking with you guys. Let's go make some hinges. Next year's theme is going to be rusty, crusty & dusty - you need to be there Dr. Cranky. A HUGE THANK YOU to MAGS for putting on a fantastic show!
  15. Just got home from the MAGS show in Tampa and it was great! I was able to meet some wonderful people from this forum and made some new friends, too. We talked painting, detailing, etc. etc. all weekend long. What a great time! I'd like to go on record here and say thank you to MAGS for a GREAT show. And hey, Dr. Cranky - next year's theme is rusty, crusty, and dusty. You need to make it to Tampa. I took a pic of a car just for you and will get it posted in the next few days.
  16. Thanks, Charlie. My 442 took 3rd place in street machine at the MAGS show in Tampa this weekend.
  17. Food? A small cup of french fries - $4.00. Can of pop or water $2.00. Prices of food and goodies here in Tampa are ridiculous.
  18. That's pretty, Brian. Did you leave any red paint for the rest of us?
  19. Pics are trerrific - but seeing it live in person is FANTASTIC!
  20. You oughta be here in Tampa - what a great show and a million 1:1 beauties too! I took a pic of a wonderful (?) rat rod just for you Dr. Cranky. I'll pics up when I get home. The director of that Deuce movie is here. Lots and lots of wonderful things going on.
  21. That's exactly what we did with Florida Auto & Scale Trucks FAST. We got 5 people together, started our FAST club and then submitted to IPMS for chapter status. We're a special interest group (SIG) in IPMS. We purposely limited ourselves to cars and trucks.
  22. Thanks, Monty. I wasn't aware of a Lindberg '67 442. I'll have to check it out. Thanks to Outlaw035, carb linkage is now easy. Pics can help but seeing a sample right in front of my face is easier for me to understand. Drill the carb(s) super glue a piece of thin wire, add a #1 crimp bead, use .020 x .060 flat Evergreen and drill 3 holes in it, round the ends, glue it (them) on, use ignition wire for the throttle cable, twist ties from bread/lettuce for the carb to carb linkage, and tiny wire from Radio Shack wrapped around a small drill bit for the return spring. It works for me.
  23. Most excellent, Rob. I hope to see it in person in Tampa tomorrow.
  24. That looks interesting.
