  1. Clear silicone. I plan to do a tutorial with pics next week for everyone.
  2. Here's some of the cases I've made from wood & plexiglas. You can make almost any size case you want/need. I plan to make a few next week and will keep track of the costs and take pics as I go along.
  3. I looked through my Photobucket album and didn't see any pics of them there. Let me try some pics today and see what happens. I'd go out today and buy some wood & plexiglas but it's raining here and my truck is clean.
  4. I'm certainly ready for another jolt from a new MCM mag.
  5. Nice looking build.
  6. Howdy Bill and welcome. Too much neat stuff going here to mention.
  7. I like it.
  8. Pretty nice looking build.
  9. Excellent. How do we get one?
  10. Nice and SHINY :)
  11. Easy. Get a piece of wood. I usually use a 1 x 4 or 1 x 6. Don't use plywood! Cut to the desired length. I like to rout a 1/8" lip on the top side of the board. That gives the plexiglas a place to sit. I've also made cases where the plexiglas just slides over the side of the wood. Measure and cut the plexiglas. I use a special plastic cutter that gets pulled across the plexiglas and scores it. You don't have to go all the way through the plexiglas. I usually do 4 or 5 passes. Put the plexiglas on a sharp edge (workbench top) and snap at the score. Cut the 4 sides. Leave the protective coating except for the inside corners. Use tape to hold in place on the wood and run a bead of clear silicone caulk to the inside corners. Let the silicone set up. Measure for the top and cut. Peal coating away from the inside edge, tape in place, and caulk from the inside. Bing, bang, done. I'm planning to make a few cases in the next week or so. When I do, I'll take some pics and post them on the forum.
  12. Nice looking build, Wayne. Gets the beer there fast & cold.
  13. I usually make my own cases from wood, plexiglas, and clear silicone caulk from Lowe's or Home Depot. I think it's cheaper and I can make the size(s) I need.
  14. Nice pics, Doc. Thanks.
  15. I have no idea how far you are from grand Rapids, James, but Rider's Hobby Shop might be worth the trip. They have a whole row (40') of models, plus 2 glass cases of aftermarket parts, and as a bonus, they have out of production kits behind the counter. Since I was going home on an airplane, I didn't bother to check their selection of paints.
  16. I stopped at Rider's Hobby Shop in Grand Rapids, MI on Monday and bought 2 packages of BMF and an "Old Pro" Nova. Thanks for the tip on Rider's. Very nice shop.
  17. You have some obvious building talents, John. So what are you waiting for? Get in that hobby room and make it fantastic!
  18. I like the after pics much better. Nice build.
  19. It's always been a good time to be a modeler. I can't wait to get my hands on that Cutlass and the '50 Olds. The Olds might my first un-shiny build. I kinda sorta remember a kid building one years ago. Everything was done except the paint. He was waiting to get some funds to do a proper SHINY paint job so he drove it around in black primer. I have to start trying to remember what engine he had in it.
  20. Get out of town !! How did I miss this build? Holy cow - it's spectacular, amazing, and holy sh - beans. We used to go mice skating behind the Clark station on Roosevelt Road in Oak Park, IL. What memories this is bringing back.
  21. The old version and the new version look spectacular, Wayne. And SHINY :)
  22. I want the Cutlass.
  23. I think I saw this one at a FAST meeting, didn't I, Wayne. Very nice and very SHINY :)
