  2. Retired in 2011 at 55 years old when I reached my 90 factor. Good job, union wages, 99% indoors and no heavy lifting with all the unsupervised OT you could wish for. With only being 55 I wasn't obligated to go but new technology was coming into the department that would reduce the staff from 6 down to 3 so they really, really needed me to go so they had to buy me out on top of my full pension.
  3. I got a temporary crown on Tuesday, so far so good. The only instructions were nothing chewy or sticky and use caution when flossing. Mine is a bottom tooth, they said ok to floss down but don't pull up, slide the floss out sideways. They're temporary, they need to be able to come out, you'll be thankful for that when the time comes to place the permanent crown. It happens, nobody needs to be blamed.
  4. I stocked up on TP this week ..... because it was on sale!
  5. I've been looking for a location around here without success. There have been a couple of times in recent years where certain solar activity has made the Aurora Borealis visible much farther south than usual but try finding a dark enough location to see it. Last time I was out looking I needed the cars navigation to get back to familiar ground.
  6. Great point, heart disease is rampant in my family. This is occurring very sporadically and seems to be triggered by certain things. Caffeine is the main trigger, hot coffee and ice cold Coca-Cola.
  7. Apparently I have reached the age where heartburn is a thing.?
  8. Amazing story, heartbreaking end.
  9. While vacationing in Orillia I just had to take a side trip to Edenvale. This 1:1 replica has bounced around over the years but seems to have found a permanent home here.
  10. Perfect storm, two people that really wanted it. The guy that lost out was "out" three or four times by the time it was over. I think that same car sold a couple of years ago for considerable less, like under two million. Edit 1969 Dodge Hemi Daytona Destroys Auction Record With $3.3 Million Sale (msn.com) Sold for $1.32 million in 2022.
  11. Anytime I don't have to build an engine is fine by me. Even on builds with engines I'll occasionally borrow one from a previous build instead of going through the process again. I don't display anything so previous builds are donors for future builds. There's only so many times I'm willing to build the same Nascar engine or 426 hemi.
  12. We have cameras at 10 major intersections, soon to be 25 that sends you a $325 ticket if you run a red.
  13. Reminds me of my early days as a pipeline draftsman back in the mid 70s. I was on a job site on railway property with our senior draftsman and he asked me if I had ever seen the Roundhouse. There wasn't much left of it by then but the turn table was still in place.
  14. Just prior to the accident I was reading that John has been looking into the nostalgia funny car class.
  15. Tougher than whale bone. Amazing how little came off the car.
  16. These big box stores perplex me. I watch a lot of true crime programs and it's amazing how many perpetrators are captured on video at one of these stores. Somebody has gone missing in the community and the perpetrators are buying a shovel, tarp, garbage bags, rope, gallons of bleach, bag of concrete/cinder blocks/ bar bell weights, jumbo sized cooler/storage bin, rubber gloves, hack saw and blades all at 2:30 am and nobody suspects a thing.
  17. Oilers still have a pulse.
  18. Things change, things die.
  19. Next door neighbor brought home a new daily driver, it's a Porsche EV, looks to be the Macan. Looks good next to his Ferrari F8.
  20. 96 pages, mostly pictures for $10.
  21. He was extended the courtesy of turning himself in at an agreed upon time. When he failed to appear he was considered to be a fugitive from justice and on the run.
  22. Look out below.
  23. Pretty sure that once you buy the kit it becomes yours to do with as you please. For me paint or polish comes down to how much the build means to me. If it's just 1 of the 1200 on the pile and I select it when the time of year makes painting outdoors impossible then polish is fine by me. If it's a kit that I purchased with a specific replica or memory to capture then I go all out and paint.
