  1. I think with this motley crew, if they didn't like ya, they'd have already told ya...
  2. Another update on my plaything: Louvers going on! The louvers were molded in a single piece which I sanded and trimmed individually and placed them one by one on the belly pan. Have the pan done but still need to do the rear panel. Then, played around with making my own joints out of 1/8" plastic rod, a drill and some files... Now just gotta learn to make 'em exactly alike one-another...
  3. Looking good so far! For the tinted bubble top, you could try to use Rit dye. I would certainly try it on some scrap windows first and don't use too much heat as it could melt or distort the bubble. Keep us in the loop on how you did it! I'm one of those that like small mounting points as it is more in scale with the model.
  4. Thanks for all the props, guys! Lots of inspiraton there. In the same box is a poorly chopped 55 ford that will also become a roadster truckster. Will keep everyone in the loop on these ol' characters. As for the smooth hood, the only thing that will break that is the blower hangin in the wind. See Charlie Brown, there is life after glue bombs...
  5. This was just a spur of the moment plaing around thing. I had a F350 Truck body without a top thanks to a young, inexperienced attempt at chopping many, many moons ago and a saw and this is what I ended up with: Engine is slated to be the parts pack 427. Body was sectioned down the middle to the tune of about a foot in the back and a foot and a half in the front. As a happy coincidence, the left wiper bottom lined up with the right wiper top!!! Took the bottom off at the belt line and sectioned the hood into four pieces, then glued em back together. The grill is a '53 Ford unit minus about a foot on either side. Wheels & tires are undecided but those in the pic are lookin pretty slick. Bed is the chunk I cut out of my '34 roadster pickup with a fuel tank from a small lighter. Windshield will be a short, frameless plexi unit. I was thinking some kind of bucket interior but may just go with bomber type seats and pod style gauges on the column from the '58 impala. So far, it's been a lot of fun and I'm likin it. Comments always welcome.
  6. Just a little update. Getting the frame worked out, got the roll cage started, the back firewall, the scoop done and did some more refining on the body and belly pan. Comments always welcome! This was the frame before I cut out the remaining center supports. Top cut out. Found my scoop! In the car. Thanks for looking!
  7. Just wanted to throw in a few of mine. Would love to see kits of these... These are all 1/24th-ish: And now some 1:43rd-ish ones... All of these are the NewBright Convertibles that I took apart and slammed to the pavement. I have many more but they are tucked away in cases.
  8. This is the color for these birds! Nice lookin' Bird!
  9. Awesome looking '53! One of my favorite Corvette bodies. Any chance on getting a closer look at those wheels? Who made the wheels?
  10. I've had issues in the past with the paint peeling off the plastic. Doesn't seem to stick once it's dry. Maybe it was some foreign matter on the plastic but that's why I quit using it. Maybe they changed their formula?
  11. There is no way I can argue that it is not hot here. It's broken tripple digits pretty much every day since March... But, that's the price you pay when you live someplace that only has three days of winter....
  12. I don't know what it's called or if it even has a name but I call it chaos theory. Ever notice that if say, you drop a tool or part while your working on the car, it will bounce/roll to the least accessable place under the car, or if you move your corded dremel that cord will loop over and grab something you couldn't lasso with the cord on purpose if you tried a hundred times and then, drag it to it's death or off the bench or into the black hole. You know, how something unique happens that you couldn't repeat no matter how hard you try. Sometimes it's amazing, sometimes it's annoying, but always, it's amazingly annoying...
  13. Don't the ones in the '69 Chevelle from AMT have separate caps and lug detail, and the holes are molded open?
  14. Z the bad boy so the body is a few inches off the pavement
  15. Hello my model brotheren! I appologize to any of you that have seen this on other boards but wanted to bring it here too as I am having so much fun building this one! I am participating in a Community Build Project to bring a Hot Wheels car to 24th or 25th scale. To further challenge this build, it has to be old school. It is on the TRaK (Traditional Rod and Kustom) board so all items used have to be dated prior to 1970 and be in line with that style of hot rod or custom. Started with the ZZTop '34 Ford I got in a lot less engine, wheels & tires (didn't need those anyway). To recreate the Sooo Fast, I needed a mid engine, rear transaxle. I used the Parts Pack DeSoto Firedome and mated it with a GT40 Mk IV transaxle, staying under the pre-1970 timeline for parts. The track nose is from the A pickup and was modified to match the hot wheel. You can see through the stages where I am going with it. I just got the wheels & tires thanks to my friend Sakari in Finland. I don't know if I want to keep 'em chrome or make em look like brushed aluminum. Any opinions??? Thanks for looking and comments always welcome!
  16. Most of the people I have delt with as both a seller and buyer have been good, though I have not dealt with this seller. As for the ebay bit being two sides, I have to agree whole heartedly. When I was a seller, I learned very quickly to just put in the extra few cents for tracking. I could always tell the buyer when it got to their house when they said they didn't get the item. Oh, and bad buyers, they are out there. One tried to sabotage one of my high value auctions by opening an account, selecting a buy it now auction and leaving immediate negative feedback saying they never got the item and I ripped em off and all that. Luckily, I've only had to deal with one real jerk and he, I believe, was responsible for that sucker-play (both profiles listed little towns in Oregon as home). He then bid on and won the high-dollar collectable and posted bad feedback that he said he'd retract if I refunded some of his money (blackmail?)... So, the next time I put up high dollar collectables that I knew he would want, I banned him from bidding. I also noticed he changed his name, possibly in an attempt to bid on the item I was selling??? This Jerry guy appears to not be too knowledgeable in the resin casting department and as long as the ebay rules allow him, I don't think he will change.
  17. I love the look of these. I did this one last year: Had lots of fun with the weathering and details.
  18. I have a couple of builts that do have the motor in them DeTomaso Pantera Lotus Europa Niether of them have more than a few feet on the odometer. Wasn't willing to let them go... Built more for the curiosity of it.
  19. I think all of us gearhead have little broken bits of memorabilia. I have chunks of a piston and the valve spring (now in 3 pieces) that caused my 289 to become a boat anchor, amoung many other broken bits in a little jar in the garage. Broken second gear band of a C4, etc, etc, etc... I think my brother still has a chunk of his powerglide he blew up at 100 mph ('66 GTO + 389 + 2 Speed Trans + 4:11 gears + 100mph = SOMETHINGS GONNA BLOW!)
  20. You could always Ferrari-ize it like that Citroen 2CV in the general section a few weeks ago... Okay, who am I kidding... Gas the darn thing... What about SOHC-ing it to them with that big-ol crate Ford?
  21. Is this the "Exploded" view? Sorry, had to say it. I feel your pain, my friend. Been there, done that...
  22. Didn't the 33 Ford Sedan also have them or were they different? What about that mid '60s Nova? I thought it had them too. Or am I mixing up Edelbrock and Weiand (I forgot how to spell it)?
  23. I see nothing wrong in what she is (barely) wearing... btw, where's the car?
  24. Tell me again, why do we have to make every model a hybrid? And what do you mean, we can't make muscle cars, hot rods and big trucks? Oh, and this soy-based plastic-like stuff we have to make the models from sucks. It melts at room temperature...
  25. Awesome build! Great weathering and details. I like how you used old axles as surfboard racks on the roof! You got the look down and asside from the aformentioned mechanical issues if it was a 1:1, it looks the part and besides, I don't think there are many potholes or speedbumps on your shelves, are there? I have some cars that would not be feasable in 1:1 as they are practically groudscrapers, same as yours. This I learned early in my model building hobby: We build to make ourselves happy. I learned this at an early age when I was trying to help a friends younger brother build a '34 Ford Pickup as he was gluing the exhaust manifolds on top of the air cleaner. My friend stopped me and told me his brother builds a model the way he sees it (not the way everyone else sees it). From then on I tried to respect what other modelers build. Some of us build for look, some for accuracy, and some try to do both. This car's got the look down!
