  1. Just a little more happening lately....... Tried my first attempt at wiring............. A second loom is in the works, as this one just doesn't quite do it for me...... And just a teaser of the motor in place.....Still need to sort a few issues yet..... Yesterday I did some final testing/fitting of the last pieces of throttle linkage....... I'm waiting on some more supplies (cable ties, etc) so I can secure the wiring in place, so updates will slow for a while..... More as it happens guys cheers Greg
  2. My very first thought when looking at that first pic..... Nice work and superbly detailed.
  3. Oh dear........I LOVE where this is heading too.................... You guys are gonna have me stepping up to these 1/8 before I'm ready................... Great work, subscribed.......
  4. Enjoy........... Enjoy ???.......................That's an under statement....... Dave, truly remarkable work mate.......10 thumbs up from me....(feel like I have 10 thumbs most of the time. ) Now, small favour.........replicate ALL this in 1/12 per-leeeeeeease !!!!!!!!!!
  5. Guys, this is ALL just purely hypothetical........ I was at our Aussie version of the WinterNats over the weekend, and one of the vendors on site had some 1/16 Funny cars...... Eye popping detail.....but diecast..... Not wishing to put die-cast down, but I still prefer the challenge of building.. The vendor mentioned that they were OOP and no more were being produced.....?? Not sure how accurate that may be..... BUT.................. With Revell gaining a bit more momentum with re-issues and such....Do you think there is any chance we may see some NEW Drag kits produced in the foreseeable future....??? I'm thinking BIG here......( I know, it's a BIG ask............. ) I would love to see some headway start with Pro Stock. In 1/16 or better still......1/12............???? I'm not sure which would be the most popular Class in the U.S. but I am a huge fan of P/Stock..... and would pay what ever $ the manufacturers decided they would be worth....NO questions asked. In the mean time......I'll just continue to dream........one day I'll snap out of it I guess......OR, have a go at making my own....................... Your thoughts, fore, against.......all welcome..... You never know, if we wish loud enough, someone important may realise our dreams......some day.
  6. Looking ser-weeet Wayne.....Two GIANT thumbs up mate. That paint scheme looks killer, and the motor matches. I likes it a lot.
  7. Truly fantastic detailing Joseph..Two thumbs up mate. This will be a fantastic build when done.....I can feel it in my bones.
  8. Yes, managed to watch most of it down here in Aus......First time EVER, we have had full coverage (free to air), hopefully not the last.....truly a great spectacle... Was sad to see the Vette's have drama's, but that's racing I guess...Congrats to Audi.
  9. The last couple of days I have worked on the fuel and brake lines...(a week off work helps.. ) At the rear, the fuel supply and return lines connect to two rubber hoses.....I made tiny insulators to fit over each line too.. Towards the engine bay............... I also made a new fuel filter and bracket....the kit part looked a little small.............??? Engine bay taking shape. Fuel filter installed, along with two new brake proportioning/distribution valves.... Working on the brake master cylinder/booster right now....it will then go in and finish connecting the brakes. Then I just need to nut out how I intend to add some realistic wiring looks....... I'll let you know how that goes................. More soon guys... cheers Greg
  10. It was time to add some detail to the SU carbs.....They are nice enough as they were, just needed some extra fuel connections... Oh, and I added a choke assembly to them as well, as it would appear to be a common feature..... I made a new fuel rail from .7mm solder. It is held together by two fuel blocks and two brackets, which bolt it to the cam-cover and front engine plate. Once this and the carbs were added, it was starting to take shape nicely.....Plus the addition of a few vacuum lines..... The air cleaner.......I think this is where I got distracted and went nuts...... I made the top removable and made a foam element for it......but the tight confines in the engine bay mean it will either stay on or off....????? With the air cleaner added, some plug leads and some finishing off, this is where it's at.....still need to finish the starter motor too..... Continues........................
  11. Well.....long overdue update time again......... 240Z "Showroom stock" Yes, you read that right.....I have started on my second big Datsun. The first one is still a work in progress, but I decided to get this rolling too.... A lot of work has been completed over the last month or two.....Here's a start...... I had saved a few of the major components from the first build, especially to add to this one...main items being the fuel tank, spare wheel housing and interior parts.... As it turned out, that was the easiest part of this build.................. The voids in the front chassis rails got smoothed, I added the top of the firewall (after it was carefully cut from the body), added some ribs and bumps, plus a new hood latch. From there on in....things got a bit tougher....... First challenge was to fabricate an exhaust system, as most of the key items were already in use on the first car.... My first design was a twin-pipe duel tip........ As happy as I was, most of my reference showed that a single pipe system would be much more accurate......so I then made this..... Attention was then directed back to the motor. It had been assembled and painted some time ago...... I needed to make a heat shield, this was cut from .5mm sheet, added some ribs, a couple of holes, and it was ready to bolt in place. Continues......................
  12. Awesomeness as always Hawk... You are definitely the Master when it comes to these Camaro's.....Two thumbs up mate. Do you know where the guy got the rims and tyres..? They look similar to the ones I made but the tyres are different....I like the look of these a lot..... cheers Greg
  13. Fantastic effort going into this Bill...If I had 10 thumbs (sometimes feel like I do...) I would raise them all for ya.... Now, hurry up......I want you to start on that 1970 which someone already pointed out......... Keep her going mate, she looks awesome so far.
  14. Looking good mate... Two thumbs up from here. It's easy to get hooked on these large Tamiya kits I know....I now have 3 Datsuns on the go..... Plus I want the 934 Porsche as well..... Keep it up, you're on the right track with this one.
  15. Hey Doug, Christian is right...one of Tamiya's excellent 1/12 Datsun's makes a good starting point. They aren't cheap these days, but if you hang out for a while, bargains do show up occasionally...a mate in the U.S. sold 2 recently for only $100 (the pair, not each) Then there's still plenty of work to do, the motor being the most involved.... Mine isn't based on any particular car, but I did base the motor on a rare OS-Giken equipped power plant. Not the regular 2000cc 6-cyl motor. Good luck in the search and best wishes for the project.
  16. ######.......Dave, this will be AWESOME ! The body mods alone must have had you tugging out chunks of head hair......? FANtastic work man. I love the tyres and your way of making them....too neat. I'm hooked and WILL be following.
  17. Hey, thanks Don. Glad you like some of my work too mate. Well, now I have my breath back, all I can say is.....I can't wait to start collecting some 1/8 stuff now..... Too kool for words...... Of ALL the muscle cars of all time, the 70-71 'Cuda would be my second fav......a close second behind the 70 1/2 Camaro... So unless you tell me you are going to start on one of them (did I hear someone say Motion... ) I'll start saving for one of these beauties..
  18. Thanks JB and George.. JB, yes. I actually trimmed approx 1.5mm off the top of the head itself, then approx 2.5mm off the cam cover. It really looks a lot closer to the 1:1 version now...so I'm glad I had to do it...... It also gave me an excuse to add the OS logo, which I wasn't going to worry about. George, yeah.....figured it was high time I got my butt into gear.... Goin' alright mate.. How you doin' these days..? All good I hope man. More soon guys... cheers Greg
  19. OMG !! Someone please pass the respirator.......I thought I just saw a 1/8 'Cuda................... Tell me it ain't so.....I still have too many 1/12 to finish. I better start saving.......seriously quick.........
  20. That's just.........um, that's just NUTS......I LOVE it...... Where's the thumbs up smiley when ya need it..... Nice work.
  21. Hey guys...back from a mini hiatus.....purchased a new set of wheels and been having waay too much fun driving.... So after some 2......um, 5 months break, it's time to get busy once more... Most of what follows has been finished a while.....just never got around to posting..... sorry.... The rocker cover has been finished........twice. Hood clearance issues with the first version saw about 4-5mm of fat trimmed off the head and rocker cover... This was the initial trial fit..... Also, note.....the engine tilts the opposite way to what it is supposed too.....on purpose. I swapped engine mounts, cut off the tranny and re-aligned it. This also involved re-modding the sump to slant the other way....Whilst at it I made a sort of race style sump.... This is how the rocker finished.....well, almost. Still some detail painting to do..... Started adding extras like the water bypass hose..... Nestled in for another trial..... New headers from 3.2mm solid solder made to suit. The water pipe along the head is fitted too..Lots of tiny bolts....... That's where we're at for now.......I'm also working on my "stock" conversion of the Safari car, so updates may be slow...... Thanks for stopping by guys. cheers Greg
  22. Hey,

  23. Hey guys, Figured it was due time to get yous up to speed... I got pretty busy over the Christmas break....aaaah, 3 weeks annual leave sure pays off....... First off, I tackled the rear duck-tail spoiler for the hatch. Relatively easy sheet plastic and 2-part putty.... In place on the hatch. It will bolt on from beneath as on the 1:1 variety..... Attention was then directed towards some interior work.... Tamiya supply a beaut pre-molded rubber like interior tray which does look good.....but I had plans for something just a little bit wilder.... After finding several good reference pics, I did this....... I know the holes are not entirely accurate......it's all about saving weight.................... Rear floor area was smoothed and new boxes behind the seats were built up from plastic sheet.. Next was the installation of a "safety" item.................... Since the interior was shaping up ok, I decided to send the motor to the "shop"......................MAJOR overhaul time. The head was stripped down......................... The order went out for a new head as the old one was warped from an overheating drama........ The apprentice come back with this....... Hopefully with some more sanding and trimming this will resemble an OS Giken Twin-Cam head. I managed to keep the height pretty close, thanks to a buddy from another board. Beside the standard motor they almost look similar.... Work has continued today on the rocker cover, it should be close to done by tomorrow..... Hope you like where I'm heading with it.....it has been a blast so far... Many thanks guys cheers Greg
  24. First purchase for 2010.... Only ordered these this morning, about 2am... but they should arrive pretty soon from Taiwan. Both are big scale 1/12.....Ahhhh..more FUN. And I think these are kinda rare....?? but HELLA KOOL..... Something for when I complete the Datto, which is back on the bench.....
  25. Ready for a BIG year.......Bring it on !!
