Brian, Another fantastic COPO graces our pages.....thank you. Super job on the motor mate, and I don't mind this colour too.... When (?) I get to build one I'm not decided on a colour yet...it will need to be something which I can get a close match with to one of Tamiya's sprays....and their colours generally aren't really close to "factory colours"... Overall appearance and application looks 110% mate, great work. cheers Greg

Oh Uwe.....What have you done..? You stole my heart...... Absolutely beautiful build mate. B) May I borrow your idea for a Superbird I have in my stash...? It has been sitting, waiting.....waiting for the right inspiration for me to build....I now have that. cheers Greg
-
Thanks very much Michael, Brian and Uwe.. cheers guys Greg

That's clean...... B) Great work mate. What brand kit is this..? I have a Tamiya I still need to finish.... cheers Greg

That's a pretty nice looking hinge Bill.. One could also apply this technique to a door where the leading edge swings inside the fender ? Loving the progress mate. cheers Greg

My Datto arrived last Monday, man am I ever looking forward to tackling this big mutha.... Beside a Fujimi 1/24 version of the same... Also visited my local hobby store ( 2 & half hour drive each way..) to see my ol' mate Andy @ Scaleautomobilia.. Walked out after spending $70+ with two kits and some supplies under my arm... Grabbed the new '60 Starliner and a '62 Catalina 421SD, both excellent kits.

Thanks heaps guys.. Jody, Um...yeah, we won't mention the drive shaft, ok ...?..... I kitbashed a few bits off an Amt BM Camaro, mainly the chrome rocker covers, air cleaner (yet to add) and the headers for the sidepipes. The L-88 scoop is off the Revell 69 BM Camaro. Oh, and of course the wheels and M/T's are from the 70 kit too. Rob, Yeah, I have a 6" cowl scoop to suit the Amt Nova...goodness knows why, as I don't have the kit.. but I did try it on this just for an idea..I found it was way different, hey.. I used the Revell BM Camaro hood for this one. Cheers Peter. Yep, I understand what you're saying mate, not everyone's idea of kool is big loud striping...I'm kinda a fan of it I guess... Thanks everyone Greg

Dang....you're leading us on another fantastic journey Marcos....... Glad you gave us a heads-up on the panel lines and fit issues man, I'll be careful to look for that when the time comes. I've only had mine out and oggled the parts so far....too much going on yet to start.... Look forward to some more inspiration from you soon mate. cheers Greg

Very nice start mate. Motor looks superb as do your brake lines..I've not had much luck making brake lines from braid... The deep deep blue really suits it well too.....nice choice. I must get to mine soon.....I weakened a week ago and got this along with a '62 Pontiac..... For the age of the molds, I was very surprised at all the great detail they have. Look forward to seeing some more soon. cheers Greg

Thank you all very much guys.. I'm glad yous all like her.. Erik, The carburetor is one of Perry's rein items. I don't think they sell small parts online these days, but you might spot him at some model show.. It is one of the better carburetors on the market that I have seen.....great to detail. The finish on this one was easy....I made sure I got good coverage with my last three coats of clear, each was sanded with 2400 between sprays. The last coat went on very smooth and after it was dry I just used Tamiya polish on the roof and sides....then just buffed it all with a soft cloth. DrOlds, Ah, yes, just saw your great Yenko Nova and was hoping you had some more pix....Hope you have some luck resizing mate. Look forward to seeing them. Daniel, Hey, thanks heaps mate..Your gracious comments and request are wholesomely received man. I do really need to get my outdoor setup working again, hey.... Or set up a proper indoor on plain cardboard......Let me get back toya on that. Hi Clay, Mate, nope......I thought about stripping and redoing the whole thing....but didn't have spare decals. Very careful placement and camera angles help a lot....... Thanks everyone Greg
-
That is a very kool looking build.. Did you use the decals from a Yenko Camaro ? Nice work. Would like to see some more if you got some pics.. cheers Greg
-
Thanks Dirk. And THANK you George.. Man, I gotta tellya, it feels good to knock one out so early in the year.. cheers guys Greg

Hey guys, Well, she's on the shelf. After nearly losing heart with this thing over paint/decal issues, I went ahead and finished her off regardless... One thing I learned from it....give the decals longer to air out before clear coating..... Anyways, done now and I'm happy enough to display her next to my other muscle cars. There are a couple of areas to be tidied up, like painting the drive shaft...oops, add some duel sports mirrors, paint the exhaust openings... I'm onto a 69 Camaro and another 69 Nova, both painted and well under way....need to get'em done soon so I can start my 1/12 Datsun 240ZG Thanks for dropping by, hope you like her. cheers Greg

Now that would scare the pants off'em at the traffic lights...... Neat concept, fantastic execution and yes, I'm surprised it fit so well.... It's a great clean build too mate, nice work. cheers Greg

Beautiful...... One of the more accurate ones I've seen built Chris, fantastic work. Love the engine work and those COPO caps really make a difference....I need to get some of those. cheers Greg

Diggin' the R-34..... Nice clean build mate. Maybe too many decals for my liking, but I still do like it. Good work. cheers Greg

G'day Jeff, Mate, I'm probably not a whole lot of help to ya, but here is what I've done (partially done) on a couple of mine.. This 69 Camaro I started years ago, I grafted the backhalf from a Revell Chevelle. "Max Rat" was the kit. It has been reissued several times I think. You may be able to check out the hobby shops on your next trip to town or check ebay..The issue I have is green on the box. Gives a nice stance once she's installed.. The other alternative is to search ebay's resin section. I got this one to suit a 70 Camaro I'm working on.. If you wish to make the whole tubbed area yourself, the satisfaction when complete is a beautiful feeling... I've only done this once, on my 69 Charger.. I moved the rear frame rails "inboard" by cutting just inside each one. Remove the center section including gas tank. Move the rails inboard to new location and add square rectangle plastic/styrene to make frame. I had to mocked up the formed tubbs several times before I was happy enough to add glue. It takes plenty of patience, measuring, checking..re-measuring, more checking...but worth it. On a 69 Camaro, just make the section between the rails flat, or you may also want to narrow the fuel tank to suit.. A better option, and one which will give you motor options as well, is to get a Pro street/Stock of Sportsman kit..the 55-57 Chevy kits kitbash well... I have seen some guys do beautiful work putting one of these tubbed chassis under Camaros and other makes.. Check out the drag racing section for some more ideas too....even full race car ideas can be transferred to a street project.. Hope this helps out a little Jeff, good luck mate. cheers Greg

That's a fantastic start Irv. Love it.. Looks great in red too....may need to do one of mine in red. Did you do much to get those tyres under the tail ? Looks wicked at that height. cheers Greg
-
Great start Wayne.. Knowing your ability with plastic and a sharp #11, I'm going to keep track of this one...it's gonna be wild. cheers Greg

Thanks Rob. Yes, sidepipes will be going on her mate...the motor and L-88 scoop come from my 69 B-M Camaro.. I have another 69 B-M Camaro waiting in the wings, decals are on the way.. I have the pipes from the same Camaro lined up for this.....s'long as I don't change my mind...... Love the sound of a phantom B-M '70 Impala..can't wait to see that baby. I love anything Motion related...
