Cheers Ismael.. Hey, I'm hearing ya.....Decals and me....we just don't mix well..... I'm off to check out your in progress, thanks. Greg Part 2 Great work and tip on the recycling too Izzy....I waste way too much tape.... The way you did the stripes has made this much more special Ismael......sorry for thinking they were decals mate. Great build.
-
Thankya Dave. Yah, the decals were a bit challenging.....but they're there.....
-
...Fantastic..... Very nice work you have there...I saw the effort you put into making the "T" top....it all paid off, big time. Looks gorgeous.. Nice and clean too....I like it.......I like it a lot..... Thanks for sharing with us.
-
Awesome..... That's an amazing paint job man, glass smooth by the looks of it. Are the decals your own work Izzy, or a custom job from Keith or someone else..? They look great. Thanks for sharing with us mate.

Hey, thanks a lot for the very kind responses guys.. Bill, aye...I wasn't overly happy with my attempt at overspray to start with, but I'm going to blacken (sound deadening..) the tunnel and wheel wells as Rob suggested and see how it looks. I like your idea of displaying a motor separate too......may have to piece one together....... Rob, yep...those little suckers (decals) took some convincing that they belonged on this car... ... I had to cut/shorten/overlap the side stripes just over the wheel opening. Seemed the obvious place to do so, as the bottom edge is the wheel opening....Also, if I do another (and that chance is high... ..) I'll be smoothing the rear deck lid......that pesky little character line that runs down the center.....I really wish I'd shaved it off this time. I guess my decal set may be going off...had it for some time.....but no matter what I did, I still don't think it laid down properly...... Thanks for the heads up on the decal sludge too mate....I'll give that a go..

Ok, she's back from the GraphixGarage, all dolled up and ready for clean up before clearing..... This is how I've envisioned one may have looked, had I gone full tilt and ordered it with the works......The only way to fly......( IMHO... ) Decals are from Revell's recent Chevelle kit, the MOTION SS 427 decals on the front fenders are a mix of Revell and Keith Marks. The indicator decals are Keith's also. Anyone care to share their trusted method of cleaning up residue left from decals and decal set....? I'll still need to do some touch ups with the black paint once I get it all cleaned, then lotsa clear coat... BMNova....>>> Cheers guys Greg

OMG Marcos, this is looking fantastic mate. I thought it looked great before polish....... But this is awesome. Look forward to seeing it done man.
-
..NOOoooooooooo........NOT the MOTION........... Nice work mate, the weathering looks pretty darn convincing to me. I do like it.....

Reckon I gotya covered Chris, PM on the way mate.

George...this sounds waaaay kool mate. Hey, if ya want, can you email me any pics you take.? I can host them for ya man, no problems.. I got loads of space, an I'd do that for you, for bein a mate. Yell out if'n ya get a chance man, I'm keen to see this beast in the makin'...... I'm havin a "flexi" day off work today, so hope to get some done on mine sometime....
-
Awww....Now ya gone an dunnit George........ With ALL these inaccuracies popping up on this new tool....ya gotta go and point out another one............ Good to see ya finally got yourself a couple of 'em mate. To be perfectly honest, the small things which have been pointed out so far, have had little or no adverse effect on an Aussie who has never been close enough to a real Nova to know the diff'rence... Kinda sounds lame, I know........but it prolly makes it easier to build in my case....... I've had 3 of the older Amt kits over the years.....I'd buy one, open it.....try to figure out what to do......sell it.......few months later, but another, same routine.....sell it.........continued, till this great new kit arrived from Revell....I just love what they've offered us, even with the slight inaccuracies....but hey, I am an Aussie remember....... Now hurry up an get some pics up for us......you building a replica of something dear an close to you...?
-
Aye....that does suit to a degree, don't it........hmmmm...and yes, I do have one in my stash Rob..... I was also wondering how a 70 Camaro spoiler would look......haven't tried that yet....?? May look into it... Really like how "goldie" come up too man, looks great.
-
Cheers Hans. Mate, if and when you do get to visit down here.....I wanna know, alright.. ....I'd be disappointed to find you've been, and we not got a chance to catch up man. Hey, I just realised my pics didn't work..... , so to save everyone from searching for them.....here they is.....
-
Aye...I thought she was sittin' a little nose up.....you forgot the motor, didn't you Rob.... Great build mate, absolutely LOVE that colour.....and the pin stripes just set it off beautifully......Two thumbs up man.
-
Small update.... Got some paint rattle canned on this morning. This is Tamiya yellow, not their Chrome yellow..sprayed over Tamiya fine white primer. No clear as yet.....I'll leave it a couple of weeks, as I want to add the stripes before clearing, make it all nice and smooth.... Follow along here if you wish..... More soon guys..
-
Thank you Raul. Cheers Lyle....yes, that's the kind of opinion I'm drawing on these cars...."what ever ya want, as long as the pocket is deep enough.....".. Lets see....1969, nah..I was only 10, and def'nitly would not have had enough money on me....but I woulda thrown the chequebook into it........ ....( I wish...) That's why I want to create this one, as I would've done back then.....all the best parts and options available...... Brian, A small amount of scratching with parts, but mostly p/etch etc.....I messed about with the "fly eye" air cleaner, hogged it out and made the small bracket from aluminium strip. There's a p/e mesh to go on it. And I messed with my own alternator bracket, till I got it looking "right"....then used ground down dress making pins to bolt it to the block.. Cheers guys.
-
Kool, thanks Jeff.. I had a dig thru my parts stash last night and found some stock "looking" ones too.....so my "stock" build has started as well..... ( I love this new kit...)

My 1969 Nova SS350, more progres! engine, interior!!!
stump replied to Daniel Lynch's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Now, that's... looking real nice Daniel..... Beautiful colour of choice too, and the "stock" motor looks spot on....I'll be doing similar to one of mine. -
Thankya George, I don't feel so bad now...... I'll certainly holla if I need anything mate. Cheers Rob. Mate, I think the manifold was in some of the old Amt "Stockers"...(??) The one's which had the older bodies, 30's Ford's, Chevy's...tube frames, etc......I believe Best Resin also offered them in resin. Hey. I like the idea of just blackening the wheel wells and tunnel.....I shall give that a go, thanks mate.
-
That's a darn fine build mate, very clean.. It is just so.......70's........Love the whole package.
-
Heya George, thanks man. Ya want the shotgun seat..? You got it mate....first "test" run should be a hoot...... Aye, I'm good for parts so far, thankya George I know I can always count on you if'n I get in a bind tho mate, cheers. The couple of doner cars, which selflessly gave their parts to this, will still get their time on tha bench......I have plans............. Did I tellya I now have 5 of these things......is that being greedy......??....... Thanks George
-
Hey guys, got a start on this the other day.....Shhh.....I still have about a dozen other projects on the go, but had to clear the bench to get this one going...... A BM version of this Nova has been on my "want to do" list since I first read that Revell were going to release a new tool kit for us....Thank you Revell. I've been some what puzzled whilst researching these beasts.....I know they were rare in the beginning, seems even rarer these days... I guess currant owners can be quite protective of their rides, and I have no disrespect for their secretiveness, but it makes it tough trying to find good reference..... The couple I did find, are what I'd call....tame......but only in appearance...not saying the performance would be tame..... I was expecting the big bold triple stripes, L-88 scoops, side pipes......things I'd thought were synonymous with Baldwin Motion.....nup, none of that.......Plain Jane is all I found.... Undeterred, I did the next best thing I could think of....I emailed Joel..........yep, you heard right....Extreme.....maybe, but I wanted to find out, didn't I.......... And Joel was more than helpful, a genuine car nut, not unlike ourselves.....Seems the stripe package was not that sought after for the Nova's, not like the Camaro's and Vette's at least.....not sure why.... Anyway, enough ramble, lets build....... This will be a replica of what I would have ordered back in 1969.........had I had the $$......( I seriously doubt that.. ..) The body has had the inner wheel arches shaved at all corners, ready for large M/T's riding on fat Cragars......The L-88 scoop is from a Revell 69 BMCamaro. I removed all the scripts, front fenders and trunk, as well as the vents from the front fenders......It has all received a coat of primer since the pic.. The chassis has the holes for the standard exhaust filled, I re-directed the fuel tank (not something I want to do too often )..The resin 12-bolt is a Perry's item, it will get the finned cover. It adapted to the springs quite easy...The whole shebang got undercoat, then "overspray"......not 100% happy with my rattle can attempt at that......may do it all in black, like sound deadening...... This is where I spent too many hours at......the engine shop.......I really wanted to throw the parts catalog at this one, as I would've in '69...... 427BB, again sourced from Revell...from the same Camaro which donated the hood......Rocker covers from Amt BM Camaro, along with the "open element" air cleaner. Only got the base in pic, it has a photo-etch screen waiting to go on too..Headers are from the kit, I separated the middle pipes on both sides to resemble BB style. Hi-twist mount manifold is from my stash, Holley is from Perry's with linkage, fuel lines and spring added. I made the alternator bracket from thin flat sheet and it all "bolted" on to the block. Dizzy is a MCG item (last one I had.. ..) and pulleys from Detail Master. That's it for now......was hoping to get some colour shot on the body today, but was late getting home.......maybe tomorrow...... Follow along here if ya wish....... BMNova......>>>> Thanks for dropping by, hope you enjoy this wild ride...... Greg

######....those seats look comfy enough to sit in....Looks great Rob. Hey, you did a fantastic job on the slapper bars too man, very kool addition. I'll be using the kit ones, as they're what I'm more accustomed to seeing..they will get some minor mods tho...(thanks Lyle) Haven't found that Hurst shifter yet....been thru most of my stash boxes, but still got a couple to search thru........If it shows up man, I'll get a pic to you, see if it's useable for ya.
-
Beautiful beautiful work mate.. I like the way you add the over spray under the fenders....looks very convincing. Overall, this build is shaping up to be a show-stopper....the motor is excellent, the paint...flawless.......detail..........bitchin' !!! Plus, it's all great reference for when I do mine..
-
I said this elsewhere....Looks like she's driven straight off the box..... Looks great Walt, beautiful and very cleanly built, excellent.
