Hey guys, Just thought I'd give you an insight into the Aussie modelling world. It's on a much smaller scale compared to what you guys have, but still a fun event.. This Show (EXPO) is an annual event, attracting some of our most talented builders.....held during August in Brisbane, Queensland, it is what I claim as my "local" show. QMHE 2009 I'll update with loads of pics after the event if you are interested guys......stay tuned.

Oops..sorry Gregg. I slept through the News, so no forward update on the Tour D'France...... Yes, low to mid 200US is what I thought.....? I think postage (from China to Aus) was 35US....so that also needs to be added into it.... Still.....very very tempted......NEED to finish lots more before I think of buying more though.....

Ok.....it's Saturday down here already...... I've noticed these things popping up quite regularly on ebay of late.....starting from $145 (?) Is this not a lot cheaper than first priceing guesstimates....? I thought originally they were going to be over $200USD......?? I still haven't bid on one yet...I'm waiting for you to give us some detailed build review Gregg..

Back atcha...
-
Yeah, they ain't cheap.....but you do get one heck of a motor to display.... A couple of guys have already talked of just displaying it alone.....It could easily stand by itself as a "build"....

PM sent Dave..

Well, this ain't so much of a "start" just yet.......that will follow. The R-34 GT-R Skyline has been a favourite of mine for years. I got this Z-tune kit some time back as well... Plans were made, a doner R-32 was also sourced for the motor (don't know why Tamiya dropped the motor idea... ..) and the whole thing fell flat...lay dormant as they say... Fast forward to today......I am pleased to say, the R-32 doner kit will see completion as well.....some day........ The reason for this.....I received this in today's mail................... ....Yep, my first thoughts too.....this motor has it ALL......... Multi-piece white metal motor components, gorgeous full gasket set, inlet and exhaust manifolds, twin turbo (identical 1/24 scale) and includes a radiator AND huge intercooler..... The photo-etch set includes all gaskets for inlet and exhaust, cam gears (for race option) labels for turbos, RB26 script and loads more...... Be warned though.....they don't come cheap..BUT, the quality and quantity more than make up for that..... If anyone wants info on this masterpiece, hit me up...I'd be more than willing to pass it on... I really can't wait to get the ball rolling again on this build. cheers Greg

Thanks Jeff.. I really hope to get back on this shortly..... With the weekend getting close, I'll be looking for fine skies........

Thanks Karel, Al and George....... Al, yeah, I'm well on the way to that big "fruit farm" for ol' nutters...... ......... I haven't touched it for over a week....just been too busy with life. ....and I'm anxiously awaiting word on my wheels and tyres.....they got sent away for casting 2 weeks ago.. cheers guys Greg
-
Good stuff Karel.. I'd love to see some of your other work mate, even some Sci-Fi would be in order..... cheers mate Greg
-
Ok George....I went "real"............... Though, it does appear to be a re-touched pic of some kind...? Dealer brochure pic ? Quite possible.....which to me, makes it look a little toy-like.....?? Can't recall a model of one either, but that don't mean much......
-
Hi Karel, and welcome aboard mate. That's a sweet looking ride you've assembled there man.....very neat, very clean......I like it. Look forward to some more of your work, it sure wont be out of place here. Hey, you going to QMHE in Brisbane in August...? Might spotya there if you do.. cheers Greg
-
Thanks Brandon and George.. Brandon, not sure there will be much more Nizmo stuff go on.....I was searching for a tiny Datsun logo amongst my decals, but spotted that label first and thought, that'll do... Can't wait to see the work on the 1/18 builds mate... ..an don't worry, I wont mention the Jaguar.... That's gonna be wild...I LOVE it.
-
Ooh......me me me me.........please. Aye, I'd be a definitely interested party to this....Have you given thought to different induction set-ups as well....? Thinking Dominators.... I have a 69 as one of my next large projects, but I need to find, or scratch up 2 big Dominator Holleys.....Soon as I get the big Datto done. I've mastered a set of 1/12 Watanabe rims and tyres for the Datsun, but they also fit very nicely under a Camaro....it has been tested.... Oh, and welcome.. cheers Greg
-
He he hehe....... Hey, I'm with ya now George.....I can see ol' Harry is mighty good at these.... I'm gonna need to flip my monitor upside down for the next one......give that a try..... Thanks George and Harry....
-
.......Luckily, there doesn't appear to be a redface smiley.........OOOPS...........missed again........ I wont be beaten a third time Harry.....Mwhahahahaha...................
-
Funny.....that was my very first thought too Jason. I'm hoping it will look better in the flesh, or plastic in this case... Gregg, thanks for giving a rundown on the contents along with first impressions..... I'll definitely still spring for one....though, I may hold off a while like Pat....wait for a clearance sale..... Any ideas as to numbers they hope to produce...? My luck I'll hold off and only see 'em on ebay in 12 months time for some ridiculous amount.......
-
I believe this is the one you need Eelco.. Ebay... Pic supplied off Ebay.

Niiiiiiiiiiice Thank you kind Sir. Lots of goodies in there......a little intriguing the way they chose to do the motor...... 4 parts, top, bottom and 2 sides......different. and did I see the half-shafts molded as 1 unit each ??? What, no universal joints.....Oh well, something for the scratch builders...... Thanks Gregg.......I thinks I better get my order in.......PRONTO ! cheers Greg
-
Thanks Brandon......I hadn't considered the problem with trying to play the PS1...... Well, I haven't got to the roll down windows yet.....but I have managed to get a bit done..... Got thinking about fuel.......an this is what I come up with.......NIZM-O label is from a 1/24 Tamiya GT-R....... Still need to fab up a hinge for the fuel door....but all the innards are in there.....lots of hoses to add as well... And just added some extra detail to the rear brake backs...the brackets will have the cables attach to'em.... That's about it for now.......ol' life has been gettin in the way lately........More soon. cheers Greg

Mate......that is just NUTS ! I love it, great work. F-1 are one of the harder subjects I feel....just because everything is so exposed once you remove a layer of plastic or carbon fiber.... I think you did the kit a great justice.....Very cleanly built. cheers Greg -
Great work Al... I just love the "ratted" look.......Very impressive mate. cheers Greg
