Nothing like a 2 day build to feed your soul
stump replied to ismaelg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hey, that's pretty kool Ismael.. Maybe I need to try something along these lines man.....I have all the inspiration I need right here on the forums, it's the enthusiasm I'm lacking....I'm always too tied to jump into one of my projects after working all day... I really like how this one turned out mate, and can't wait to see your detailed version... One thing...wont your sister get envious of the extra detail yours will be getting.. Well done man. cheers Greg -
Re Tamiya new GT-R Um...I know this is going to sound very negative.....but why.....why cast the engine bay/motor (top only) as 1 piece....?? That's just nuts...... ....(This is my personal opinion only....) I mean, why bother at all......leave it as a curbside if you can't be bothered adding ALL the details...... .. I guess it's no big deal to a lot of builders, but I'm not a curbside kinda guy..... Tamiya have gone as far as I'm concerned......sorry guys..... Thanks for the link Antonio, least it saves me buying one to find this out....and saving over 50-60 AUS $..... (Flame suit on..... )

This was also one of my concerns Len, but after talking to Bill, and seeing the results, I think it come out looking pretty darn good, hey.... I wonder if Revell have changed the mixture/properties of their plastic...? I'm still not a fan of automotive sprays though...as I still use rattle cans and always seem to get 1:1 size orange peel.. The build up is looking great guys.. I know I don't need one of these yet (too many other things to build) but I can't wait.... cheers Greg

oohw..That's a not often seen style for a Pro Stock/street....Very neat. Great start, look forward to seeing some more progress Jim.

Hey Gregg, there's a lot to love about living down here, beleive me..though, I guess I'm biased..... Hey, I know a guy who did that......(Monaro conversion..).. As soon as the first release from P/L's arrived down here, I got in and made Monaro front and rear facias, plus a RHD dash.. They are still available (cast in white resin)...let me know if you're interested....(sorry Gregg..shameless free plug...) cheers mate Greg -
Hey Marcos, that has a killer shine mate....very, very niiice..... (LOVE that colour..) Also, neat engine mounts....I like that idea, very kool. Love the rake and attitude of the build too...going to be one tuff Cuda.. Thanks for the update man. cheers Greg
-
Thank you Marcos. Mate, yeah..I really want to get back on this badly....I'm hoping to in the coming weeks... Just need to sort a couple of jobs around the home first......home renovations...well. home painting anyways..... All is packed away, rooms stripped....ready for painters to cut loose..... Once things settle down and I can bare the smell.......I'll be back at the bench... cheers mate Greg

Hey George, no worries mate.. Glad you dig the Motion....it's one of my favs...won an award or two with her.. Yeah, we have the odd creepy-crawly down here.....where I work (timber yard, making floor boards) we get a LOT of redback spiders...not very big (read=hard to spot.. ) but they can knock you down if you get a bite...also had 4 large Eastern Browns, each of approx 2 metres, made our yard their home last year..They're our deadliest snake we have..and have been known to CHASE people.... But on a lighter note..the cute/cuddley ones out number the nasties.... Hi Gregg, nice to meet you too mate.. Thanks again George. cheers Greg -
..Thanks Nick. I was wondering if I'd get a bite... Mate, yes it IS a lot of fun to drive, and drive hard.... I've had it just over 2 years.....don't know why I didn't step into one long ago....

Ok, here's my daily driver...I don't have a "toy" at presant.....

Hey George, Not a problem man.. lordairgtar is spot on re the address, (thank you sir..) New South Wales it is...I'm on the northern tip, only about 45 mins from the Queensland border....you know, Surfers Paradise, GIRLS, Indy cars, GIRLS, V8 Supercars, GIRLS.... Didn't make that too obvious I hope.. And yes, Dragalogalong, which is just down the track from Wheelabarraback and Wikickamoocow...are all good Aussie slang.. The Motion Camaro is my dream car....still LH hook...unfortunately, it's too small for me.... It's an Amt I painted up some time back....I want a real one, one day...... And George, whenever you're ready to take the move downunda.....we're mighty friendly folk.. Thanks for the Q's mate. cheers Greg -
Welcome Dave.. I've just moved in here myself, and I must say..I like it here..

Question about the "new" SA forums...
stump replied to Blue coyote's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Sounds like you're getting the same screen responce as I am..... I use Firefox, but others using it are still getting in.....maybe something to do with setting, but I'm not altering mine, just to get in there.....my system is old..('puter) and I know there is a newer Firefox 2 available, but mine is too slow to update... I have been in and had a look around using IE, but it all looks too "advertised"......and still a pain to navigate..... -
Thanks Bill, you got mail. cheers Greg
-
Ah..all good, both Bill and you're doing us a great service, and I (and I'm not alone..) appreciate your time Len. Thanks. One thing...the wheel attachment via a steel pin....it is a good tight fit..? Seems reminicent of a similar style used by Japanese manufacturers over the years...They slid the pin into round plastic grommets recessed into the backs of the wheels....Just curious..Thanks. cheers Greg
-
Oh man...the more I see you work on this Len, the more I need to get my hands on a couple.... The overall fit and finish looks spot on judging by what I've seen so far...Thanks. cheers Greg

DUDE...THIS ROKS..!! Seriously nice detail you're applying to the build..I like it a lot.. I kinda liked the paint scheme you used.....but you gotta do what feels right for you....BRING IT ON !!! I'll be watching this one. cheers Greg
-
Bill....absolutely beautiful work mate.. I've really missed seeing your builds....thankfully I found MCM just recently.... I guess when you (me) get stuck on one board or the other, you don't tend to search out an alternative...now I have......I am here. Your attension to detail on this one is "as expected"...Can not wait to see more progress. (LOVE the colour choices too..) Coffee is brewed, snacks at my finger tips.......I'm set and ready.. cheers mate Greg

Thank you Bernard for your very kind comments. It's extremely satisfying, but also very humbling at the same time, to hear such about my work mate. I have picked up tricks and techniques from various builders over the years, two of whom are Bill and Frank. I simply use their ideas and adapt them to what I'm working on.. If some of what I create rubbs off on someone else, that's more satisfying than building it myself. Stay tuned Bernard, hope to update before too long.... cheers Greg
-
Bill, thank you very much mate.. Yes, I have folders full of helpfull detail pics, thanks to Frank..plus some great links to his resouces..He's a great guy. Bill, the fantastic work both you and Frank do have been my two major influences in my recent years..I thank you both. To me....it's the difference between "building a scale replica", and "assembling a plastic model kit"......worlds apart..... I've deviated away from where Frank is going with his, only slightly, as mine will be a "road" car, not race. I still have far to go and hope to get back to it before too long.... Thanks again for stopping by, and if you feel there is something that could be improved......I'm all ears... cheers Greg
-
Thank you George. I'm glad you like it mate. It is a bit like assembling a 1:1 too..My nephew always says I have too much time on my hands...lol.. I reall hope to get some more done pretty soon. I have the paint lined up, and have received my custom decals from Keith Marks, so....it's looking good for a copletion....something I haven't achieved in a while... Stay tuned George. cheers Greg

Ok, kool, thanks Bob. Yeah, it's probably nothing that Jim will be able to help me with in any case...I threw the question at him re; Mozilla vers. IE. My problem was opposite to yours by the looks..I could get in using IE, but couldn't with Mozilla...maybe it's a "cookie" thing..? Anyways.....I like it here.... cheers mate Greg
